  1. Try this route list: https://www.geocaching.com/plan/lists/BM7VZPR
  2. You are more likely to find the locals hanging out on nevadageocaching.com There are parts of Red Rock you don't have to pay to go...
  3. There will be an event in June, the new caches along the highway will not be published until just before the event. I'm sure that after the event, there will be a bookmark made for these.
  4. Welcome, Elmbaek! Las Vegas always welcomes out-of-towners. The best way to meet up with local cachers in Vegas is to post on our local forum at Nevada Geocaching.
  5. You may try the Nevada Geocaching forums, more locals hang out there.
  6. Hi Kathy, Your best bet to get in touch with Nevada cachers is through their local forums at http://www.nevadageocaching.com. A great cache (and probably safer than any other) has to be GCQ596 (A Special Memory). Check out this cache and some other local favorites at this bookmark: Vegas Local Favorites. Have fun and good luck!
  7. I would suggest the Red Rock area. Its close to town and very scenic. Lots of hiking trails, lots of caches. The cache closest to the Visitor Center is GCVZDC Red Rock Travel Bug Resort. You might also want to check out the Nevada Geocaching Association site. The local cachers are usually willing to show visitors around. Enjoy!
  8. Sorry, but "Support our Troops" is one of the agendas specifically not allowed.
  9. I've created a public google map called GeOrg Directory that anybody with a free google account can add to. I've started it with the 3 groups I frequently associate with.
  10. I think this thread is meant to be for forming caching groups outside of San Diego!
  11. Sure, be happy to go out caching with you...if I'm home! I'm Air Force, currently in Iraq, doing a year... Lot's of great cachers in Vegas, though, just check out the NGA Now I know who to contact next time I'm in Iraq! Woo hoo! I laughed out loud on that one, thanks for brightening up my day!

  13. Ditto with San Diego Cache Events Yeah, that's a great thread, if you're in San Diego!
  14. Check out the Nevada Geocaching Association and the Great Basin Eastern Sierra Geocachers, two Nevada geocaching groups. If there is a local Ely cacher, they can most likely be found on one of these.
  15. That one is good, but this one is better: A Special Memory
  16. Your best bet if you're having trouble getting started is to contact a local cacher to show you the ropes. Most cachers are great people and many will go out of their way to help a friend (or a stranger)! Google a local group or association of geocachers. Get on their web page and join their forums. If you post there like you have here, you'll likely have multiple volunteers to cache with you.
  17. I second the nomination for MAGC - a global association for a global community!
  18. Go Nevada Geocaching Association! The NGA is a great association of Nevada cachers that offers great events like Meet & Greet Groundspeak & Garmin in Vegas. The community also gathers informally for weekend and impromptu caching runs. They offer area visiting cachers support before, during, and after a stay. When cachers are planning a trip to Nevada, they can contact NGA members through the Visitors section of the Forums or check out our Local's Favorite Caches bookmark list. The NGA works in cooperation with the Nevada Commission on Tourism and other local and State agencies to promote responsible geocaching. The NGA also promotes Cache In Trash Out by sponsoring litter clean-up of Nevada's highways and holding CITO events. Many caches by NGA members also promote Nevada's history of mining and its distinctive geologic features. Just remember...
  19. The Hysterical cache was definitely a good one, unfortunately telling you what it is would be a spoiler. I also enjoyed The Little House Out Back. I won't tell you what it is, but if you look at the pictures you'll figure it out.
