  2. Being sorta new to geocaching. I don't know if this story helps or not but it sure gets a chuckle out of my husband some nights. I have hid one cache was planing on 2 the daughter found a sweet spot in a near by park, where I get off the bus from work everyday. well we listed it for review we got back a note that says we have to move it because we are 80 feet from another active cache. So I went to the site and bingo there is a PM cache about that far away.So I went through and the next closest PM cache is about 20/25 miles away.(we travel by bus) So I didn't want to fork over the cash for the one near by.I have not sent any nasty emails to the CO. no point in that. but I have been a little late some nights LOL!!

  8. Ok I am new, very new to geocaching so far we have found one micro cache one letter box I started with 5 traveler tags (still have 5 they wont fit in a micro) then I found out they (traveltags) are not trade items ok fine live and learn so after reading the posts here I have now got to trade compasses/keyclips, very nice scarves for the ladies for the kids I got some matchbox cars, some leather coin purses to stitch up, some fun foam visers, some hello kitty items. from what I am reading here I guess I will be a good trader (I hope) if not please let me know thanks :-) jen
  9. we found our first cache today (GPS hasnt come in the mail yet and we couldnt wait so we winged it) and we found it !!!! anyways it was a micro cache so alls we had to do was sign the log book we did now when we get the gps (within the next few days) and we go looking for the big ones my question is what are proper trade items and not geo-junk (which I asume is things like army men and such) I made 5 travel tags which are key rings that I designed and made with the travel #s they have no real mission just to travel I made them for my daughter to see how far they go friends want some just to have they liked them so much so I know they are nice so im wondering if these will be more kept then moving about I read in another post that travel tags are not real trade items so any help will be great !!!! TIA Jen
  10. HI my name is pscreem (jen) I have been lurking here for about 2 weeks now a co-worker had told my 13 yr old daughter about geocaching and she wanted to give it a try (she was pretty much crazy about it) I had heard of it before thought about it never looked into it we told my hubby (dad) he thought it would be cool so we came to this site found out there was some pretty close to us so we are waiting for the GPS to come (internet order) but we couldnt wait we gave a first one a shot the other evening went looking at a trail by the local collage we didnt find the one we were looking for we did find a letter box which made my husband a true believer ( we did learn when we go out bring a can of off LOL) we couldnt deal with being eatin anymore and the fireworks were gonna start soon so we gave up on that one for another day but today we are going for another so wish us luck !!!

  12. hi everyone, this is going to be my daughter, husband and my new hobbie this summer we have our bikes and gonna do this (dropping a few pounds wont hurt me either) please no one look for those :-) I have heard about geocaching off and on for a few years now question # 1 my son got us a GPS Garmin foretrex 201 (I hope this is a good one I have no idea any help here please) he is in germany and having it sent to us he ordered it on-line so we havent got it yet to try it he is in the army and thought this was a good one even though I don't think he understood the whole geocaching thing but thought he needed to buy it what a sweet kid question #2 my daughter dicided that we should make keychains ( i had made one for my son once with his daughters baby pics in it) these are really very nice but she wants to number them and that way people can post what number they find I think its like a bug but if we run into one of the bug caches is this gonna be concidered as one or does it have to be one of the "real" bugs I ask because there is 3 in our area thank you every one for any help !!!! jen
