  1. I used to use my iPhone 6 and the Geocaching app to cache with. I was fantastic. Coords were always within tolerance and the compass was correct.I never had to resort to loading the coords into my GPS. I recently upgraded to iPhone 8+ (v11.4.1) and it is nearly unusable for geocaching. The coords fluctuate and the compass often point is in the wrong direction. I thought the issues were with the iPhone but, after talking with apple support and resetting several settings and turning other services off, I'm convinced that it is the Geocaching app. I've seen the other similar complaints above. Is there a fix in the works? Are you guys working on this?
  2. I'm thinking about placing a QR code based mystery cache. A search of QR code based caches reveals difficulty levels from 5 to 2.5. Special equipment is required (a cell phone with appropriate app) but who doesn't have a cell phone? What do y'all think?
  3. So are Wherigo caches worth anything in the Planetary Pursuit?

  5. Except they aren't all that challenging. If they had been active last weekend I'd have been done already.
  6. Some of the big pet store chains have "do-it-yourself" dog tag engravers. I've revived several travel bugs this way.
  7. Just be glad it's still moving and not lost yet. I like TBs and watch where mine go but, like lending money to family, once you put them out there, you pretty much have to pretty much consider them gone. The lucky ones last awhile but many don't and you have no say where they go.
  8. Why should I need a third party application to do all the things that Groundspeak should be doing in the first place?
  9. When creating a PQ from a List the options to include or exclude caches is greatly restricted. For instance, I find a list of local cemetery caches created by another cacher and I want to create a PQ from that list but exclude caches I've already found. That is not possible with the current options. Thanks.
  10. Chirp caches are fun and challenging but they are different enough from a regular cache to warrant its own type. Chirp caches require specialized equipment and most often require extra steps to get to the final cache. If a plain-jane multi is its own type, then chirp caches should be their own type as well.
  11. It would be great if cemetery caches had their own dedicated attribute. I find cemetery caches interesting and educational and would very much like to be able to search for them by attribute. Please consider adding an attribute for them. A cool little tombstone icon would be perfect. Thanks!
  12. One thing you can do is create a list of your solved puzzle caches and then generate a PQ of that list. Save the PQ to to your phone and the corrected coordinates will appear there just fine. I know this is not the ultimate fix but it works pretty well until Groundspeak gets around to fixing the app. (Instead of goofing around with silly things like Challenges.)
  13. I've now used the Geocaching app on my iPhone 5 to find about 300 caches. It works like a dream and has revolutionized my caching experience. Every once in a while I will revert to my 60CSx in heavy cover to zero in on a cache but other than that it works great. I log caches and trackables as I find them saving time and bookkeeping. When I find myself in a new area I can see all the nearby caches regardless of whether I've saved them in a PQ previously. The only caveat is that corrected coordinates for puzzle caches are not displayed when you search for nearby caches, but they are returned for pocket queries. Hopefully Groundspeak will fix this glaring mistake soon.
  14. I know about and like GxProxy but if you want to do it yourself, just go to a pet store. My of them have a self-serve dog tag engraving machine. You choose the tag style you want and the machine engraves whatever you want on it.
  15. I'm pretty sure that there is a calendar on one of our profile pages. Darned if I can find it. It's the same page that shows us our archived unpublished caches. Your Geocaching Details Now if it could also show future events that I plan to attend that would be awesome.
  16. I think that a calendar feature for GC.com would be a useful addition. The first, most obvious use would be keeping track of upcoming events but it could also serve as another way to visualize a cacher's history. Sort of like a geocaching diary.
  17. of this cache that the admins saw fit to change it? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ec-1f4d52f8c2e3

  23. Before I go and reinvent the wheel, has anyone out there written a gpx 2 vcf converter? Barring that, does anyone out there have a gpx parser they are willing to share their source to? Any language will do, except maybe haskell. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm fixin' to turn the wife's iPod into the world's coolest geocaching cache library. Anyone want to guess how many cache pages I can fit into 5 gB? And how long that will take to transfer via Firewire? ...
