  1. I would love to do a backpacking trip. Count me in if the weekend is right. I am busy with my son through wrestling season (beginning of March). I do most of my trips in PA. Gifford Pinchot and Thunderswamp are the nearest. Pinchot has two caches along it trail. Never tried Harriman or the Catskills. Let me know. GeoGuru

Another needle in the haystack that is a multi stage cache, well worth the effort even if it is not found as the views are terrific. Hey, in this case, I'm happy to be wrong GeoGuru! Much has changed since that post you quoted ... as you know, I decided to go after your Buck Mtn. cache and snagged it. Hope to get to your new cache before too long! Good luck BassoonPilot. GeoGuru
  4. quote:Originally posted by BassoonPilot:I think GeoGuru has quit geocaching because his three "needle-in-the-haystack" caches weren't well received. I found one of them (Rocky Mtn. Micro Challenge) easily, the second one (Monroe Ridge Micro Challenge) gave me a devil of a time before I finally found it months after my initial visit, and I opted not to go for Buck Mountain ... although the cache is temporarily archived, knowing how well he hid these things, it's probably still there ... give it a shot, Brian ... it _could_ be the hardest cache (to find) in NJ! (Harder to find than "Alluvial Material?" ... I don't know; give them a shot, Brian!) [This message was edited by BassoonPilot on October 21, 2002 at 04:46 AM.] Naw, haven't quit yet BassoonPilot. Just have been busy. Just put a new one out today. Another needle in the haystack that is a multi stage cache, well worth the effort even if it is not found as the views are terrific.
  5. Has anyone taken their GPS on an airplane? Do they allow you to use it in flight? Is there any problem getting through security with one? Any info would be appreciated. Planning a trip to SC and would like to add some caches to my list. GeoGuru
  6. Is there a way that I could prevent a charter member from seeing the web pages of caches that I have hidden? The reason I ask, is that I have a cache that was completely ran-sacked by another cacher (by his own admission in an email to me). When I say he left no stone overturned, I mean he left them all oveturned. The place is a mess. He couldn't find it to boot. I was there today and tried to return the place to normal, but I think he actually dug some of the stones out of the ground. As you might expect, I was deeply saddened by what I saw. I have a "leave no trace" approach to hiking and to this sport and I expect others to do the same. I am thinking about placing another cache and would like to keep the location of it hidden from this member. Is this possible? GeoGuru
  7. Where can I found the Members only caches. Can I do a search for members only? Does anyone know. GeoGuru
  8. quote:Originally posted by PeterNCrystal: eryone wants to find, but noone wants to hide any caches. What's going on here? We really need to see some more adventure around here, come on... we are The Pocono Mountains. There is so much beautiful, scenic area around here, it's almost impossible NOT to know a place to hide one. I will be putting up 3 in the next month or so..... Anyway... I have faith in all of you... Also, i was thinking of starting a club for us in our area, if anyone is interested-----Email me- oo_drinkinpro_oo@yahoo.com Crystal ------------------ I spend a lot time in the Poconos in the summertime. I would love to more caches out there especially near Promise Land SP, Tobyhanna SP and Hickory Run SP. When I get out there this summer I will be placing some also. GeoGuru
  9. I am in northern NJ also. Intersection of I-80 and I-95. Spend most of my time in Ramapo/Ringwood area. GeoGuru
