1. Your link is munched. Its coded like this: DLA2014 and should probably be coded like this: DLA2014 DLA2014
2. It doesn't make sense to post announcements for an event that has already occurred. Better to simply disable the announcement log type if the event's date has passed.
3. "I would like the functionality of the PQ interface on the website to also be available in the app"
4. A similar request was made more than a year ago. With no answers. From anyone. Which is weird. [FEATURE] Roadmap of possible implemenation of FEATUREs
5. Side game like ftf is a side game Not like FTF. Grid shows on your official stats page; FTFs do not.
6. GSAK is not free. You can try it for free, but if you continue to use it, you are expected to pay (as you should). The author has put thousands of hours of development time into it and deserves compensation! GSAK is free -- it says so right on the homepage, in red letters: http://www.gsak.net What costs money is getting rid of the nag screen that appears for increasingly long periods of time before the program runs. And its worth every penny. Concur. All they'd need to do is add an import/export feature that would allow you to dump out or paste in a list of GC codes. Yes. It is easy to find a workable XP install key;[...]Doesn't one need a copy of MS Windows XP in order to use a workable MS Windows XP install key in order to run MS Windows on VirtualBox? I think you mean the install disk? You can download an ISO image of the OEM install CD from the internet. You'd create a Virtual Box machine, mount the ISO file and boot from it.
7. Yes. It is easy to find a workable XP install key; when Dell or HP loads a computer with their version, the 25-character key is from the "OEM" image that they load at the factory and is not unique. It will not match the 25-character key that is stuck to the side of the machine with the Microsoft hologram. Long-story-short every desktop computer has a valid, unauthenticated key that can be used to do an install of XP. This is something I have had to do multiple times to get very old software to run in Windows 7 (before they provided a single-licence "XP mode") and now inside Hyper-V in the detestable Windows 8. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the alleged upgrade to the PQ interface from whence it should come. Since there are no expectations being set, I have none. Besides, it is fun (and my job) to pick up others' slack. EDIT: Ringboned myself. DAMMIT.
8. Could a Wherigo do this? Or are they going to kill that too?
9. Sorry, but I don't want to walk in the woods seeing names and hearts etc carved in trees, living or dead. It's defacement, period. (Edit: typo] Some peopke might say the same thing seeing a bison tube hanging off of a tree branch. As I said, it is all subjective. That kind of subjective won't last long in the geocaching community. I have a hard time thinking of anyone that is active in the game who would say a bison tube hanging off a tree branch is defacement. They're in the wrong hobby if that's how they feel... There is a new(ish) law here in Calgary. We could face a $500 fine for haniging a bison tube off a tree branch. Our reviewer now asks every new cache to describe the hide (if it is on city land) to insure that the cache is not in a tree. Say wha?! Do you have a link to the law? http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Parks/Pages/Planning-and-Operations/Tree-Management/Tree-protection-bylaws.aspx
10. Steal anhydrous what? from where/whom? Why don't you post the link from your local police? That would be a start. Anhydrous ammonia which is used, I believe, as part of fertilizer. http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/methnet/fightmeth/farmers.html#theft_prevention
11. I am surprised you would ask this question, since it has probably been answered a couple hundred times since you arrived in these forums. Maybe this time you will read it... People who are not into the FTF race abject to it because some FTF hounds engage in activities that have negative impacts on all geocachers, whether they are FTF hounds or not. Examples: Entering parks outside of legal hours Leaving taunting or other inappropriate content in logs Engaging in unsafe activity in pursuit of FTFs There. Was that clear enough for you? Do people enter parks after hours to find a cache even if its been found before? Yes. Do people leave inappropriate logs on caches that have been found before? Yes. Do people engage in unsafe activities perusing a cache even if its been found before? Yes. You should be bashing Geocaching as a whiole, not just the FTF side game. Oh, my. That logic is so bad it makes my head hurt. There is actually a name for that logical fallacy: it is a form of modus tollens. You are asserting that since not all bad behavior from geocachers is a result of the FTF race, then none of the bad behavior of geocachers can be a result of the FTF race. Sorry, but that is Just Plain Wrong. Sorry, I think you are drawing the wrong inference from his assertion. I think he is asserting that since not all bad behavior from geocachers is a result of the FTF race then some of the bad behavior is not a result of the FTF race.
12. From the customer-purchasing-products-and-services analogy perspective, what is lacking is a receipt. This feature would provide that: (maybe I should post in the Features Suggestion forum instead of here?) If the aforementioned feature were implemented, the D/T chart generators could be programmed to query the user's log entry instead of the cache itself. This would make it a lot easier for COs to increase and decrease the ratings based on season or other variables, and not have to worry about flattening someone's fizzy. Yeah I know, it could be abused blah blah blah but I suspect that quantity of grief would be fractional to what is currently happening with the system as-is.

14. You are assuming that the log entry quoted was the incident involving you. Are you sure that it isn't possible there was another cacher and another archer?
15. That will lead to abuse. I wont be in favor of that. I just changed the ratings on my 10 oldest caches and you can't do a thing about it. Which abuse is worse I wonder?
16. This is why, if possible, there should be a feature where the D/T rating is encoded into the log entry at the time it is entered.
17. Groundspeak isn't the only geocache listing site. There is a possibility that the cache isn't even listed here. If we knew where you were talking about, we'd know for sure.
18. It is possible to insert a link on a cache listing that is not actually on the geocaching.com website, images for example. Most really dangerous stuff isn't allowed (I don't think you can embed java code for example) but ANY reference to a known-to-be-dangerous domain name will get stopped by what looks like Google Chrome. EDIT to add: I downloaded as text the source of the cache page and it definitely references images hosted on the enigmachaching site. One is a JPG which should have been uploaded to the page's gallery but the other is a GIF file which isn't uploadable to geocaching.com and which might be an animation which is relevant to solving the mystery.
19. Most new browsers will let you right-click on a link and then select "Open link in new tab" or "Open link in new window"
20. You mis-spelled "Marauder's" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_objects_in_Harry_Potter#Detectors
21. A technological answer would be a feature where you would be able to have privacy settings that would allow you to hide your logs from everyone. This has been suggested as a feature, and appears to have been taken under consideration: SUBMITTED (24896) - [FEATURE] Request for Private Profile Page
22. I think all it would take is for China or another space-endeavoring nation to announce plans for a manned Mars mission to start a new space race.
23. There's an add on that does almost exactly what you are describing. This thread describes a procedure to install Canadian topographical maps using something called Geocaching Map Enhancements. One of the benefits of the add-on is a button that will produce a listing of caches you describe, ordered by their distance from the current centrepoint of your map view.
24. Its a feature. The \ character is used to "escape" the following character. In this case, the ' can't be entered on its own in the Picasa server without causing problems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_character
