I have a quick question about the way time zone's work on the website. I live in Australia and while it's the 1st of August here it's still the 31st of July in America. So if I found a cache today it wouldn't give me the souvenir. Have I got something wrong in my settings or is that the way the website works. Thanks!!

Purely depends on what you want. Kathmandu tends to be a bit pricey but is always on sale. I personally got stuff for a recent camp at mixed places after doing comparison: Sleeping bag at Mountain Designs Tent at Kathmandu Backpack at Kangaroo Tent City (It's in Chatswood) Anaconda for bits and bobs (Heximine, Matches etc) Bear in mind that Anaconda Will Price Beat so look online and then go to the one in Belrose (assuming I can approximate your location) Good luck Thanks for the quick reply. Some people may be very amused by the entertainment, some may get annoyed at strangers poking around near their yards, not to mention the extra vehicle traffic. Is there lots of parking available on your street? It's a weird street. Houses only occupy one side of the street and the other side is a fairly decent look over a valley. I was thinking of putting it there. So across the road from any house at the back of suburbia... so not much traffic to begin with. Does that make sense? Is it public property? I believe so.

So I'm thinking of putting a geocache at a location near my house. But a part of me is saying that the location I want to use it too close to my house. So what do you think? How close is too close?

As I get more and more finds I love seeing the smileys start to eliminate the cache symbols. But what I want to see more it other peoples maps - what do they look like? Take a screen shot and put it up (especially if you live a bit north of Sydney I'll upload mine (when I figure out how) I'd love help with that haha Thanks!!

So a few years ago I sent out a travel bug... it failed and got taken by a new cacher after 14km. Then a few months ago I sent out a new travel bug http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=4370960 with hopes that it would be more successful. Now it's in the hands of the first person to get it and they aren't placing it in a new cache and not responding to my messages. So here's the question.... should I send quite a blunt email with my thoughts, or should I just be patient?

Could someone explain what you mean by Q cache and X cache. I have never heard of this terminology before

I carry a very small swiss army knife on my keyring and this has helped me a few times. It has tweezers which I always find very useful to get out the logs sometimes. Edit: I also carry a torch - this is sometimes my iPhone - because micros can be hidden in dark holes sometimes.

Both of these ^^^. There is one that is driving me nutso, though. It's near my home and I've been there three times (although the first time was actually without my GPS...but I thought I knew where it would be)...and still have not found it. In the meantime people keep finding it and saying stuff like "easy find" or "quick grab"...just to rub salt in my wound, I think. I even emailed the CO to see if she could narrow my search (not give me the answer, mind you...just tell me if I'm in the right area since there is a lot of landscaping and terracing there) but she has not responded. This one really is getting to me. Yeah, I know that feeling. There was a cache exactly like that for me too and looking at the cache page there were only 3 DNFs and I was all 3. I eventually found it - not knowing how I missed it.

Does anyone else have a little but of OCD when it comes to DNFing a cache? Once I DNF a cache I feel like I now MUST find it eventually. Should I just get over this?

Don't tell that to drneal I'd love to visit drneal! Really! :anicute: You could attend an Event where drneal will be present. He usually brings his album containing his 20 coins with him so people can make a few discovers. He probably also have a few more in his pockets, 5 at the most Well, I could. If I could. There is just the small matter of a few thousand kilometers of water and land mass between me in Germany and him in Pennsylvania, I'm afraid. His event is just: I actually live in Sydney Australia :S haha.

Some collectors go for certain coin 'types' ... events, nature, fun, visual appeal, shapes, color, etc. It's up to the collector. Unlike just 'pokeman' cards, think 'trading cards' overall. You can collect any or all offered for any purpose, or you can select one sport like baseball, football, hockey. Or ... like comic books. Collect anything that's in print, or select one adventure series to follow. Some coins will have only one or two 'versions', while others like the 12-12-12 multi-event coin, there were 67 (iirc) versions made. Only a few people have tried to obtain all 67 different ones, while some settled for just a few and others have just one as a remembrance for the event. The other consideration is cost. A single pokeman card didn't (?) sell for $10-20 plus shipping. A complete set of 67 versions of 12-12-12 coins would run well in excess of $1,000 at retail. If monetary is not a factor, I'm sure you could spend a thousand or more per month worldwide just on 'new' releases. Develop a taste for past coins and it could put a serious dent in ANY wallet.
