People ask these questions, and then they get all bent out of shape when we give our two cents. I really do not want to see trash and spraypainted rocks and such. You might as well take your ideas of educating people and flush them. One cacher is complaining about graffitti, but turns around and uses it to guide people to a virtual with graffitti. Now if that isnt hypocritical, what is??? I may be losing my grip, but look ahead. That little park that you say is totally trashed. Why is that?? Because no one cares. So what do your kids have to look forward to?? Are they gonna look past all the trash too?? Sounds as if you have!! So quick to slam people, but so slow to take action.

So, graffitti bugs you huh Irvingdog. And you thought I was weird in my hate for litterbugs!! No differance! Just because it was a cacher maybe!! It will never stop!! Not without enforcement!! Seeker BP

I found a cache which was placed in a fake bird box in the middle of the woods. It had a removable lid on the top, and a tupperware container on the inside. It was really cool!! The hole in the front was just a painted black circle. I wonder how many birds got headaches trying to fly into the bird house?? Makes you wonder huh!!

What area of Ohio are you from??

Could care less about the items in the box. Can get the same effect from a box of Cracker Jacks. I too follow Bassoon's philosophy. I like going to an interesting area, hiking some peaceful trail, and seeing the scenery!! Cache In, Trash Out

I noticed it's OK for Irvingdog to voice an opinion or complain about something, Why is it not OK for everyone else. If you do not like what you read, move on! Its called freedom of speech.

Is there anyone out there that hates People who litter?? And there seems NO end to it. I have seen some very nice areas get trashed in a weekend. Well how about a volunteer team to hook up with cameras, camcorders, and camoflauge and sit a weekend and collect enough proof to stop some of this. Anybody out there interested in making a differance. I am very serious in my intentions and would like some help. Throw me some input and lets see where we can take this!! Seeker BP Ashland, Oh

Our team is a ragtag group of river rats and backpackers who have used the E-Trex for our travels. Now we have a sport which just adds to our adventures. If you see our logs, we all have our own accounts, but some are more loyal to this "Caching" than others. I for one spend every chance that I get to discover caches. But my team mates do not get credit for what I have searched for unless we do it as a team. Just cannot see myself taking credit for a find if I was not part of the team effort. As for dteec, I stand edited! You were very correct. I have since changed that quote!! As for headmj, you need to read a little deeper into my thinking like RUBBERTOE. Unless you are one of the many who are uneducated in the morals of the outdoors. Thats why I say teaching enviromental morals is important, from the start. And who's to say we were not dropped from spaceships!! Sometimes I wonder when I get replies such as yours!! All I want is a clean and simple life, but its so hard when you live with slobs. And the only ones to be offended by this would be slobs!! Seeker BP

My lifetime so far has been spent trying to find the most untamed enviroments to see and explore before they are gone. I have only been to one place in all my travels where it was difficult to see that a human presence was even there. We are all differant in our cares for the enviroment. One person is a litterbug, one likes to steal trees and shrubs to take home, some ride there motor vehichles over protected areas, some build fires and burn the woods down, and then there are the ones who couldn't care less about anything. I have to believe that times will never change, and no matter how hard we would like to keep our world nice, there will always be the ones who will trample the piss out of it. Education will never be enough, It may make some people aware, but only a few will follow eviromental guidelines. Enforcement of laws will not even stop people from destroying. Hell, look at the litter laws, Do they work?? No!! If I could make the world a better place I would, but it takes the complete help of all members of this human race, and that will never happen because not enough people care. Do your part, its important that you do!!! Why not make a litter law that gives a reward to a person catching a person littering on film. $2000.00 fine $1000.00 to the state, $500.00 to the litterer cacher, and $500.00 to a litter education program for the schools. Just a thought. [This message was edited by seeker bp (Team E-Trex) on August 01, 2002 at 10:03 AM.]

That Geobuddy was a first timer, and found that this was not his thing. Besides, with the amount of flack we gave him he is probably hiding in his bedroom. I think that everyone should be free to attempt this sport, but it will weed out the thumbsuckers!! Seeker BP

First off, CONGRADULATION's to Lil Otter. That is amazing!! I think going solo really helps. And to answer Bassoon Pilots question" favorite cache??" They have all had some great story, but my favorite was finding an old caretaker at a traditional cache which housed a virtual cache which was just down the road. This caretaker was very interested in caching and went along to find the traditional with us. When we opened the cache and found the envelope to the virtual, it was about a commercial plane crash which had happened even before I was born. It just so happened that this caretaker was the chief of the fire dept in that county. He was amazed, and I was amazed. Needless to say, he was exited to show us the crash scene and tell us many stories about that night. Thank you Mr Kennedy. That must of been a sight. And that is my favorite. SO FAR!! -
Well, I know its not that big of deal, but I am celebrating my 100th find. Been a member since Feb 2002. And this is still fun as heck. Looking to hit 200 in less time!! Any one else wanna gloat!!!! I am the Seeker, Therefore I Seek

I have seen many a things I would have never known existed in my own State of Ohio, and I contribute that to the many, and I mean many Geocachers out there!! Heres too Us!!!

Knowingly placing a cache in dangerous area?
Seeker BP replied to littlefrog's topic in General geocaching topics
Seems to me that this is another case of "I NEED SOMETHING TO WHINE ABOUT) syndrome. It is clearly stated in the cache description about the area and the problem. Maybe this cacher is hoping with all the great people that cache in trash out, that maybe some of the broken glass will dissapear with help from geocachers who carry garbage bags. Litter control can be accomplished many differant ways. Maybe by having traffic in and out of the area, this will keep the party crew from invading. So many reasons, not enough time. If it isnt your thing, dont ruin it by trying to make it your thing! Find the one that suits your desire. -
I was curious to know if there has ever been a roaming cache placed. Sorta like a travel bug, but the entire cache is retrieved and re-placed by the cacher who has found it. I have given this some thought, but would like some feedback on your thoughts.
