  1. I used a Garmin ETrex for two years with good results finding caches. I upgraded to a 60CSx last year and the difference was night and day! It has great reception in heavy canopy and in deep canyons. I get 19+/-ft sitting at my computer against a brick wall. Keep in mind, good coords are only as good as the unit that marked them!
  2. I agree, thats why I don't pick up too many bugs anymore. The last one I placed, went missing brfore the next log. Beginners tend to clean out a cache of whatever looks good to them, and havn't gone as far as to research what a TB is. bottom line is, if you play the TB game, sooner or later you will loose one. The world is full of folks who don't care about other peoples property. Don't let them ruin the fun. Three out of four of mine are still active. When they go missing....I'll close that chapter!
  3. I've not posted here before, normally at:.ncfoothills-geocachers.com but was searching lost TBs and thought I would chime in. I've been caching close to two years now and own four TBs that I hand carved myself. I've only had one go missing. When people take a TB without logging it, and place it on there desktop, it becomes a trophy to them. And just like a deer hunter, there is a much nicer one out ther somewhere. The life of a TB is uncertain once you shut the lid and walk away. If it goes missing, all you can do is hope it is spreading joy to someone. I would imagine "Thumber" is having a ball. I did, before I turned him loose.
