  1. Hi there! I need some help... A while back I placed a cache in Manley Hot Springs, AK - I had planned on returning there with my church group at least once a year, so I thought it would be a fun outing for the kids. When I placed the cache, I was unable to get a location - for whatever reason, my GPSr was not functioning that day. However, I have used Google Earth to get a pretty close location of where I put it. If someone is headed out that way, and wants to check a cache for me - you'd get the FTF prize, plus my heartfelt gratitude. AND if you wanted to adopt that cache, I'd be even happier... looks like we won't be making it out that way for some time. Please email me if you're interested in helping. Thanks! Michael
  2. Sorry for the delayed response - I was doing something harder than Geocaching...finding a house to buy!!! The entire container probably weighs upwards of 50lbs... shipping is possible, but probably not practical. USPS would probably take it for around $40 parcel post. I'd like to avoid that hassle. Maybe I'll leave it on I-95 somewhere.
  3. Hi everyone: About a year ago I had a plan to place this mega-cache that would allow people in my area of NORTH CAROLINA (Jacksonville) to put together their own caches, thus increasing the number of interesting caches in my area. Unfortunately, that's about when I got sent to Iraq. And, now that I'm back, I am moving north - and I don't have room to carry this cache with me, and unfortunately, I don't have time to plant it. SO - does anyone want it? It's a metal waterproof footlocker (US Military) with several ammo cans inside, with swag and notebooks and pencils and more - and it's yours for the taking. For free. Let me know! Thanks! FatherPippy
  4. Active Duty Navy Chaplain, here, serving with the FMF. Oorah! I've got a WJTB that I'm taking to Iraq next week. Wish me luck!
  5. Funny story about "getting a hobby" - as I seeking an Urban micro, I ran across a very mean muggle woman (more like an evil siren, trying to get me off course) who asked me "Why do I keep seeing people looking around over there?" I told her that we were playing a "scavenger hunt" game and that sometimes there was something hidden over here as part of the game...ok, it was a little white lie... Anyway, she said to me, "I don't mean to be rude or anything," - and when someone says that, what they're really saying is, "You're not going to like what I'm about to say, but," - and she continued - "You're a grown man - why are you wasting your time with stupid games?" I said, "Well, different people do different things for hobbies, and this is mine." To which she retorted, in the most heinous voice, "Yeah, well, maybe you outta get a different hobby." That was my only DNF to date. I was so mad and I knew she was watching me. So I just bolted before I said something that I'd have to confess!
  6. I'm game down here in North Carolina and Virginia! Sure - this could be fun...
  7. IT was AWESOME! And inspiring. You guys have turned me from "Holy Caching Guy" into an evil twin brother "Devil Cacher" - there are now 5 Rocky Mount style caches in Jacksonville (thanks to ww8ball and jackcacheNC who supplied me with Nanocaches). Check it out! Good luck! FatherPippy
  8. Calling all Cachers: So, there are now 5 (soon to be 6) new caches in Jacksonville, NC. These caches are inspired by the Rocky Mount adventure that I had last weekend - so enjoy. I will be out of the area for the next week or more, so if you need hints, you'll have to wait. Good luck, happy hunting! FatherPippy JACKSONVILLE'S NEWEST!!!
  9. Well...I have noticed that people have been a little more combative in the forums lately...maybe it's the comet?
  10. I've noticed this a couple of times recently, and I feel like I've got to say something. This is in regards to THIS thread - but applies equally to every thread like it (several in the last couple of days) If someone shuts the thread down BEFORE you have a chance to post, it's probably better to just leave it alone. If you think that you've got some piece of wisdom to add, send it privately, please, instead of creating (and then LOCKING!?) a separate thread... Just my two cents. Keep on caching, friends, and try to love one another (even the trolls). edited to correct grammar and clarity.
  11. You purchase a new cell phone, and instead of throwing away all of the plastic ziplock bags (packaging) - you save them for MICROcaches... and then you look at your old cell phone and think...hmmm...that could be used as a cache container...
  12. OK FOLKS: If you're planning on coming, here's what I've got planned: Harambee Square Tar River Smurf Turf Use Your Noodle(multi-members only cache) - nobody has found this one yet!!! jackcacheNC made me do it! Rocky Mount #1 Rocky Mount #2 Caboose on the Loose Weather Cam Lake Wilson Cache Tar River Dam I tried to find caches that represented a broad range (multi, micro, normal, web) - and I tried to stick close to a small area. I'M OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS! If you've been to these before, please come prepared with alternatives. THANKS! See you tomorrow!!!!
  13. Would it be unhelpful if I said: "The real problem is that it was spotted..."
  14. I had tea, once, with the Archbishop of Canterbury...does that count? If not... I'm Batman.
  15. If I said, "Do unto others..." would that just be a cliche? Maybe I should say, "Cache unto others as you would have them cache unto you."
  16. Ok - so... Here's the plan: Date: July 3rd Time: 10am Location: Harambee Square by dream chaser I live in Jacksonville, about 2 hours South, and will be heading out that morning. If anyone wants a ride, let me know and I'll come get you *if you're not too far away* How many caches do we want to do? 3, 4, 5? More? There is quite a list of caches in the area, so we can do a hard target search...
  17. I'LL SECOND THAT!!! I'm currently suffering through the single worst case of poison ivy that I've EVER had... But finding the cache was worth it... Sad, isn't it. Thanks for NOT putting the cache there. Zanfel cream is now available for treating poison ivy after you been exposed. Its expensive but it works. More info on Zanfel I just want to let everyone know that I went out lastnight and bought some Zanfel. IT'S AWESOME. The rash was significantly reduced (and almost gone) this morning after just one use. No more itching either... And no, I'm not being paid for this.
  18. So...Rocky Mount??? July 3rd? Let's get a solid yes or no on this...I'd rather not drive a million miles. I can be there... ALSO - I'm putting together a HUGE cache - way bigger than a 5 gallon bucket - maybe we can find a place to put it. Anyone can bring some schwag to include, just bring it along! I'm thinking of making it a "Geocache toolbox" - complete with everything you might need to build your own cache...?? Anyway - ROCKY MOUNT!! Locations? Anyone?
  19. I'm a Navy Chaplain, currently serving with the Marine Corps (oorah!). I'm on my way to Iraq in August (to do some caching. don't tell my CO).
  20. Keep the guys in Kilts away from the Sheep... Oh wait...did I say that?
