  1. I was under the impression it was not radak, baggie or no. But if a Reviewer would clarify I would be much obliged.
  2. Flat magnetic sheet caches are no longer allowed under the guidelines as TPTB believe a sheet magnet is not a "container". You may agree or disagree (I disagree) but that is where we are currently. Still even with those two problems I see perhaps a grounds to Archive but not Retract the cache. If you're going to quote guidelines, please do so accurately. They say no such thing. I am not quoting guidelines, as I said the guidelines do not single out specific cache types if they did they would be pages long. "Thou shalt hide clear film cans but not black ones, thou may hide match tubes, but not Altoids tins..." I am repeating what I have been told by a Reviewer. Under the current Groundspeak guidelines a cache must have a log and a container, a sheet magnet is not a sufficient container. I will repeat what I said above, I like these type of hides when used creatively, I believe they are caches. But I am not a Reviewer.
  3. Specific containers aren't mentioned in the guidelines, I have just been told that sheet magnets are not "containers" and a geocache must have a container.
  4. Excellent story and a fantastic hide from the looks of it. We need more caches like like and more new cachers like you. I hope you and your family have many more experiences like this!
  5. I think they are neat too when used creatively, and likely new ones still get published just because the cache type isn't mentioned on the page.
  6. 1. Wrong Forum 2. horrible horrible horrible idea. Sorry but geocachers draw enough negative attention without all of us getting arrested as suspected pedos.
  7. I have had excellent success with my iphone 4. The accuracy on the screen may not be... well accurate. I have been bullseyeing caches with it like shoot Womp Rats with my T-16 Skyhopper.
  8. I loved your story, keep us updated on the resolution.
  9. There are some older caches where the log (log book) was an actual log (piece of wood). Thus no container, and no log = no cache.
  10. I see two issues. 1. The use of the "?" Mystery/Puzzle cache type instead of Traditional. I think what you wanted was the "Unknown" or "Other" option under Cache Size. 2. Flat magnetic sheet caches are no longer allowed under the guidelines as TPTB believe a sheet magnet is not a "container". You may agree or disagree (I disagree) but that is where we are currently. Still even with those two problems I see perhaps a grounds to Archive but not Retract the cache.
  11. With a few notable exceptions, who shall for porpoises of discussion shall remain nameless. I prefer dolphins of discussion. But OT, yeah it is bad form to post about puzzle caches on the forums, cache owners take pride in their hides, so they are the best ones to ask for hints.
  12. No you can't have a cache page for anything that doesn't stay at a fixed set of coordinates.
  13. In Soviet Russia, GPS cache you! sorry couldn't resist.
  14. Moving caches were allowed at one time but are no longer allowed under the current guidelines. To much work for the reviewers to keep updating the coordinates, plus the need to vet every location it is hidden, issues with proximity,etc... You can still however have a Travel Bug that is a cache, it will just be tracked through a TB page instead of a cache page, I have moved several of these, even a few ammo cans.
  15. Late response so sorry for the bit of a gravedig but that sounds like an amazing day! I know I often wander off without water as well and have been close to the danger zone a few times, glad things worked out ok for you. And hey you missed a few caches, just sounds like a reason to visit a great park again. Cheers!
  16. No matter how much they eggs you on?He is such a hardcore cacher...he wouldn't even waffle...Orange juice glad he's so dedicated?I'm glad y'all have hashed this out. If it didn't work out this thread might have been toast. Yeah, they could have been in a real jam. My gosh what a bunch of hams.
  17. I have a BS in Geology, a MS in Geosciences with an Applied Geophysics focus, and work for a major oil company. Needless to say I love Earthcaches!
  18. That's not a geocache. It wouldn't be publishable under the current guidelines. I'm kind of surprised it even got published in 2002. "The original coordinates are 3 miles from the Lion Gulch Trailhead, which is 8 miles south of Estes Park on Rt. 36. But they are just coordinates. A Hike is the cache. "A hike with Tahosa or Denali41 is the requirement for the Cache. "When you are ready to try for this Cache you will have to make a date that it can be done on. So contact Tahosa or Denali41 by EMail, and we will go a hiking!" A hike is not a geocache. You've obviously never hiked with Tahosa...
  19. Yeah I have been looking for something like this for a long time, it seems so simple but I just don'tknow a program that will do it. Someone once told me Streets and Trips did something like this but I don't own it and would hate to buy it for just this one feature which it may or may not have. I think GSAK could do this, but I don't know of a particular macro.
  20. GC101WZ Is the most likely cache I can find. It is a multi but it says the final is an ammo can. It could have been replaced or it could be an archived cache. I didn't see anything listed near the coordinates and thereare only two multis and no puzzles in the area.
  21. Not going to be a big surprise but the paid iPhone app is waaaaay bigger and better than the free app.
  22. ....at Alice's restaurante. OT/ Move your cache a bit and resubmit, it really isn't a big deal.
  23. I don't think I have anything that hasn't been claimed but this is awesome I must say. Too bad you didn't need a plastic figurine of a California Raisin, could have hooked you up.
