  1. I will see Sarah at MWGB, in Indiana, maybe later today. She will be pleased to hear you like her geocoin so much. I cannot remember where her codes are stored but she will get you an answer I'm sure. Normally she is on here every day, but I imagine she and Strider and crew are in route now to Indiana.
  2. I always send another coin and the first one almost always shows up later and then I just tell them to activate it and put it in a cache. The cost of a coin is not worth any upset to anyone.
  3. How can I get one of those Jesus dollars?
  4. How about Kansas City? We are right here in the middle of the lower 48 and we have lots of caches and plenty of low priced hotels and great barbecue. We have some crazy little women here too.
  5. We went to see the movie last night and it was awesome on the IMAX. We loved it. Wish I could get one of these coins I would give anything to have one. PLEASEE!!!!
  6. I do not think there is anything you could legally do about it, but most of the geocaching community would consider it to be poor form.
  7. Wow. I had ignored this coin until this thread started. I just ordered a bunch of them. Too bad the LE's are all gone.
  8. Usually I use a new 000 bubble envelope and just tape the seam of the envelop. Never lose any. Sometimes I use used envelopes. Never tape the plastic flip never ever ever....yuck! But the best of all is I always fold inside a piece of paper usually a copy of the email
  9. More than one person wanted one really bad.
  10. I did that a few times when I first started out but now I just buy more than one and release one and keep one to look at and then sometimes I release it too. The paper ones eventually disappear and that is ok too. I guess people could release copies if the original gets stolen, but finding one is not nearly as interesting as the real deal. I love moving coins and TBs and even more creating them and putting them out. I just created some new TBs today. I do not think I have ever replaced one with the copy tag, but I guys I could. I have a drawer full of copy tags. What would happen if you thought one had gone missing and put out a copy and the the original popped up again? It would result in some strange mileage, huh?
  11. The one case I am aware of is also with a designer mentioned in another thread recently. In this case my friend had waited for almost a year and met face to face with the designer and was put off again indefinitely. My friend has just given up on ever seeing a design or getting his money back and is no longer that interested in doing a coin at all. In this case I think it might just be a matter of someone young and inexperienced trying to make a business out of a hobby and not being very committed to the basics of running a good business enterprise, like doing what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it and satisfying customers or else giving them their money back or realizing your reputation is your most valuable asset. There is a reason that the majority of small businesses go bust and these performance failures top the list. It is too bad too because everyone involved are really nice people, they just should not be trying to make a business out of it if they don't understand the basics of running a successful business.
  12. Looks like one of my coins, TB1VPP5, went through this cache back in February and ended up at Geowoodstock and has not been seen since. It has been over a month now since it was shown as left in the event. Who knows where it went...??? Oh well easy come easy go maybe it will turn up. Small world though huh?
  13. Let's give our fellow human beings the benefit of the doubt here. The vast majority of people are honest. There are a great many who are ignorant and don't know what a geocoin is, it just looks cool so they traded for it or a kid grabs it or who knows... Then there are those folks with good intentions who really mean to drop it in a cache and just forget or drop it down the cushion in the front seat or can't go geocaching and just forgot they had it. I have quite a few geocoins in circulation and I see it all. I long ago gave up on worrying about it. I keep putting out new ones and quite frankly I am kind of glad I am not getting all the emails I would get if all my geocoins and travel bugs were being properly logged and passed on to a new cache. It is already over 100 a day. I can't imagine how many I would have if everyone were perfect. Just remember the only perfect person is a perfect stranger and I haven't met that person yet. PS I love the genetic rationalization. Very Darwinian.
  14. This was my favorite post so far. What a story! Kind of makes you cheer for global warming and other population limiting phenomena.
  15. Today I picked up a nuvi750 and downloaded the programs mentioned here. They work great. Is the crash thing still a problem on the 750 when you activate the alerts? I checked no on that. Tomorrow I plan to try it out in the field. Thanks for all the help.
  16. Here is a pretty cool one here in Kansas. It is a plexiglass sign with the coins mounted on it so you can see both sides and discover them without taking them. It is called Icon Mania GCVQRE
  17. This is a very cool coin and many cachers including me have created geocaches where you have to use the coin to decypher the coded message in order to find the cache. They are great. I never leave home to go geocaching without mine, just in case.
  18. Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I will trade them too.
  19. Well, Jude and I got back from our California Pacific Coast Highway drive vacation on Sunday and yesterday picked up the coins at the post office. All of the KUBLue Kansas sunshine orders and trades have all been mailed out today and should be arriving soon. Hopefully you will have them before you depart for GW if you are going. Unfortunately we left all the money we could afford in California last week. We did drive by the hotel where GW will be held on Thursday and I was tempted to hide a cache full of Kansas sunshine geocoins nearby, but unfortunately I had already released all of them into caches along the California coast during our trip. hahaha Well, I hope those of you who still want some will write me and order some because I have tons of them left along with the regular 2008 ruby red slippers ones. I will mix and match so if you want some of both no problem just let me know what you desire. I am being easy here. Just put out and gave away some more today here in Kansas. You so much should see this little jewel. I love it to death. Who recommended I make a blue one back during the cointest for the 2008 design? I want to send you one for free. It was such a great idea. If you have ever been to Allen Field House during a KU game then your spine will tingle when you watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8laAlpFy57Y My seat is on the fourth row up from the floor on the Northeast corner near the student section. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
  20. I have a series of letterbox hybrid caches hidden along Indian Creek in Olathe with a unique geocoin attached to the cover of each cache using gorilla glue. One time a newby cacher pried them all off and logged them. When he went to log them he discovered they were supposed to stay with the cache and he mailed them back to me from out of state. I glued them back on and posted notes in the cache next to the coin telling folks to leave them and log them as discover only. Since then they have stayed in place except for the one that went missing. It has give much joy to cachers to not only find the cache but also get the icon on their profile page for each coin. Here is the first cache in the series: GC13W7E http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3e-e9375a05e520 Here is the letterbox story with clues: http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?bo...the_Silver_Beav
