  1. I have loaded some Topo 24k maps, some CN maps and the entire world map set. When I go to map setup and try to choose a specific map set, all I see is one map set listed is "June 2008". The way I understand it, is you have to load all the maps you want at one time because previous maps sets are erased each time. So how do I choose CN, Topo etc. I like the Garmin, but IMHO the interface and PC software is less than intuitive.
  2. I bought a handlebar mount (part number 010-10257-00) which doesn't work on the HCX. It comes with a replacement battery cover that doesn't allow for the extra width required to accommodate the memory card. I've looked at the Garmin site, but all I can find is the handlebar mount itself, but not the replacement cover. So what should I have ordered?
  3. Go to the Map page and hit the submenu and select map setup. You will see five pages along the top, go to the third from left, the one with the waypoint symbol and you will see some settings displayed. The top setting adjusts what zoom level, waypoints and poi's show up. I set mine on 20 metres mainly because the poi's get in my way. That did it, thanks. Believe it or not, I have gone through the manual several times looking for that answer.
  4. I have the clip, and I mounted it to the Garmin, but I really do see how it fits into the bean bag mount.
  5. Is there a way to keep a list of waypoints but to keep them from showing on the map by default. In other words, I want to keep a list of waypoints, but I only want the waypoint icon to appear on the map when I need them.
  6. I bought the portable friction mount (beanbag), and I mistakenly thought that is all I needed, but I guess I need some kind of holder for the gps unit. For the life of me, I can't figure out what is the other part (at buy.garmin.com) is that goes with it. Do I use the dash mount (010-10274-00) and slide it in the friction mount?
  7. I loaded CN 2008 maps for the western US, on the Garmin, then topo for Arizona and Virginia and then world maps. It's obvious I screwed this all up because all I see are World Maps, no topo or CN maps. What do I need to do to fix this so I can see CN and topo as well as the rest of the world maps.
  8. I want the backlight to come on automatically when I power up? Is there any way to do this without having to use the power button and slider to turn on the backlight? I just upgraded to 2.50 software and now on the default map page, I have the map pointer data on top with longitude and latitude. I can't seem to get this off. It didn't come up with v. 2.40 of the software. I have Data Fields set to "map only"
