Actually one of my favorites was when I was pretty new at caching.
I still didn't have much skill or confidence. Most other people could easily find them before I did.
We drove up and saw that there were people at GZ. My friend said, "We'll come back later."
I said, "no wait. Let me access the situation."
I got out and went over to the row of benches that was where the GPS had pointed to from the car. It wasn't until I got there that I realized the people there had a GPS in their hands. It was their children playing in the playground next to us.
Turned out they'd been searching for an hour. I asked if they wanted us to join in. They said, "Please."
I asked my friend to go back to the car and get our GPS. Then I looked down.
"No, wait, never mind. Here it is."
I picked up the nano hiding between the bolts on one bench.
I was beginning to become a cacher.
nice story.

I like that they present an opportunity to hide caches in places that it would be otherwise almost impossible. I also like that they are a cinch to find. Check the metal sign or metal post nearest ground zero and you'll find 93.7 percent of them in a matter of seconds.
I dislike that most are hidden in the most mundane places imaginable.
Thank you for the finding advice. Now I know they aren't too hard to find.
-
not really, especially 'cause they are so small and hard to find. and it's hard to sign the log.
-
Can you please fix geocaching.com being slow? I'm trying to print out some caches.
I can't get on feed back now, so I'm asking here.
-
usually, there is no good view to "unwrap".
Ok, so this virtual has a nice view, but this challenge doesn't?
True, but I said usually.
-
Seems to be working fine for me now.
-
But the challenges, although fun, aren't really caches you can "unwrap" in one way or another.
How, exactly, did you "unwrap" the earthcache you logged? Your rather brief log doesn't really mention anything that specific. From here, it looks like you parked within 500' of a rock formation, (a specific location), walked to it, and gathered answers to a few questions, (a specific task). Is that "unwrapping" in your book? I'm asking because, based on your earlier interpretation, a rock formation isn't a cache and shouldn't count toward your finds. I'm not suggesting you delete your log, but if you changed it to a note, at least it wouldn't show up as a found cache in your stats. That would be less hypocritical than refusing to participate in challenges which follow the same pattern.
(I.e; Go to a specific spot, perform a specific task, post a log)
It's like this, I unwrap the view/location which is the cache, and I answer the questions to verify that I was there.
My log was brief cause I was on vacation, and I had quite a few caches to log.
How is "unwrapping" the view any different between a challenge and any other non-physical cache?
usually, there is no good view to "unwrap".

I think the Lackeys are still making it. Be patient.

GREAT Block Party today!!!
A lot better than I expected, and I expected it to be good!!
I really liked all the activities, and really enjoyed meeting Bryan and Jeremy.
Great geocaching course!
Lots to do, lots of fun!
Great atmosphere too!! It was as if everyone there was my friend.
Bryan looked around and said, "this is great" and it was indeed.
You guys obviously put a whole lot of time, energy and money into this and it really paid off!!!
There were people there from all over the world! Everyone seemed to be having a great time!
Next year, let's have food vendors in the geocacher meet and greet area. With cold drinks and coffee too please!
And name tags for everyone. I would have talked to a lot more people if we had had name tags. Thanks. (yes I bought one, but most people did not)
There was a great kids area, and new challenges to do on the spot.
I did a fun one where you talk about your favorite geocache into a recorder.
There was another game course too, and a lot of prizes for all the games.
Kudo's to you guys for having a free event. Entry into all of the events were also free, and they obviously put out a whole lot of money to buy GPS's to loan out for the day's events.
They put out a whole lot of money to buy a lot of prizes and also geo-coins that the three founders of Groundspeak handed out for free.
Great atmosphere, great games, great people, great weather (wow), and overall a great event!!!
Good job guys!!!!
Yes, it was a lot of fun. I LOVED the fremont challenges in which you got a puzzle piece at each station. I also like watching the lackeys getting dunked. Getting the travel tags was fun too.
It was great!!

I did the fremont challenge course at the block party today, but I'm not going to log them unless they don't count in my find number.
But I did have a lot of fun.
So, you don't agree with the notion that going to a particular spot, as established by GPS coordinates, and performing some task should apply to your find count? That's fine, if you feel that way. I'm just curious why you didn't feel that way when you logged a find on an earthcache. Didn't that require that you go to a place, established by GPS coordinates and perform a particular task? Seems a bit contradictory...
Here is my explanantion. The Earthcache is actually a "cache", a virtual with a pretty view which is considered the "cache". But the challenges, although fun, aren't really caches you can "unwrap" in one way or another.
Just my thoughts

The Dates Are Back Now.

I made this idea on feedback. Any comments? If you think it's a good idea, please vote for it!
Thanks!

I guess 90.

I listed a challenge, now all these people are giving it a thumbs down probably because they can't do it or something? It's a local challenge with a photo.
I'd suggest that it is entirely possible that those thumbs down votes are simply the result of people poking around, not realizing that they are doing. I myself voted yours down, but then voted it up, which removed my down vote. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to totally remove my vote.
Has anybody tried the "Flag Challenge" link yet?
Yep, not sure exactly who/what it does.
Although the Offensive option should probably be changed to Not Appropriate
Is that an option that you get when you click on the "Flag" link? I'm hesitant to click the link, in case there is no way to un-do it, just like I discovered about voting on the challenge.
yep

Yes, I did, there were two challenges I thought inappropriate. So I flagged it. Soon afterward, it disappeared.

OK I'm pursuaded to return the date to the log. I'm not sure yet if this will be in addition to or in place of the timeago display. Thanks for that feedback guys.
Thanks, Dates are Very Important to me.

I wonder if it's too late to change my username to transgressively agonistic deviant?
No, this is how you change your username: http://www.geocaching.com/account/ChangeUserName.aspx
But why do you want to change it to that?

My foreign coins got skipped? Oh... must be bad!
I think foreign coins are a good idea. :-)

My little brother really does not like geocaching, but I really love it. I try to get him to come with me, but all he does is argue his way out of it. I try to explain that if he would give it a chance, he would love it, but he just absolutely hates it for some reason. He refuses to go to meet n greet events and won't even get out of the car for a 1/1 light post park n grab. What can I do to get him to come with me?
Question: Has he tried it?

-
No I never. But I have dreamed about it once.

No, it can't be yours, now that you said it, I guess.
