  1. Thanks Scott! I couldn't find anything last night..weird. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  2. Does anyone know who "pika123" is?? My husband and I both received an odd email regarding a Sacramento cache from this person, but we couldn't find their profile on the site. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  3. Well, we decided to take a ride tonight and look for George's new one. Unfortunately, it wasn't revealed that the cache area is not accessible after dark. I guess it technically is "accessible"...it's just a matter of whether or not you choose to obey the "no trespassing after dark" signs! We have a funny story to tell about this hunt, but I don't want to give too much away. Suffice it to say that we were unprepared for a nighttime hunt, I took my Volvo down a yucky, bumpy dirt road several times, and we learned that Pat is pretty good at hiding when he thinks cops with their sirens on are coming after him!!!! Oh well...I know someone else is going to hunt this tomorrow. We will make another run during daylight hours..soon! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  4. I was able to figure out the coordinates earlier this morning, but I didn't rush out to hunt it yet. The night is still young though! That would be impossible to figure out if you were a newer cacher and didn't know any of the history! It was fun to do though and brought back some funny memories. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  5. Anyone wanna team up on Cachefest 2003 (George's new one)?? I know the answers to at least 4 of the questions for sure and probably the other two as well, but I was a bit confused by a couple things. If you don't want to team up, do you want to buy some answers???? Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  6. Congrats to the Green Achers bunch on find #200!! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  7. quote:Originally posted by Fallen:If you think there is a http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=53554 that is just so miserable you can't stand it... DON'T GET THE dadgum THING! Good grief. Maybe you should rename that cache to "Yes, there might be some stinging nettle out here and yes you might get some on you so you have been warned, and now don't complain when you hunt this cache and are exposed." There is no pleasing some folks. If the cache is a 1 in terrain, they complain that it was just too easy and not a challenge. If you add a bit of challenge, then it's too tough and they got hurt by mean things while trying to get the cache. Oh well...life would be boring if we were all as docile and agreeable as moi Happy 4th everyone. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  8. What part of Colorado are you traveling to? I have a pretty cool virtual in Parachute, which is somewhere between Denver and Grand Junction. I placed it while we were on our way home from Missouri last year, and it has had lots of visitors. I say "Somewhere between Denver and Grand Junction" because I lost track of where we were after that many miles!! Have a fun/safe trip. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  9. CoronaKids has four placed caches, two of which are rated under 2 in difficulty. Encouraging the laziness, maybe? A quote from one of his hidden caches: "This is a 1/3 mile hike uphill that will give you a nice workout. I wouldn't recommend this hike for children under 5. It is a steep hill." So, if you skip that one because you have small children along, are you still lazy?? Rhetorical question there..no answer expected! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  10. quote:Originally posted by Green Achers:Being rather low on the number of real caches that I've stashed, I can tell you that I've always collected my archives (or what's leaf of them). However, I personally wouldn't loose sleep if I missed one. Missing one isn't the issue. My problem is with people who knowingly archive a cache and then never bother to physically remove it, even though they might try to give the impression that they have removed it. There are several examples of just that exact thing happening here in the valley. I find it humorous when someone says a cache was archived because the container fell apart or it was missing or whatever other reason, only to later be found perfectly intact by another cacher! It is proof positive that some folks are in this game for one thing...numbers. They don't care if they have caches that are never maintained because that doesn't reflect on their stats. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  11. There are also cachers who don't have the physical capabilities to do higher terrain hunts. Another consideration is often time. If I have three hours to cache and would like to hunt for as many caches as possible, then I will probably skip any higher terrain ratings and opt for those that are easier to access. Not hunting higher rated terrains doesn't necessarily mean someone is lazy. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  12. A question for everyone/anyone interested: If cachers have a habit of not maintaining their caches, i.e. archiving them and leaving them in place instead of taking the time to check on them and pull them or take care of them, should they be allowed to place new caches over and over again? [This message was edited by JaimeeG on June 22, 2003 at 11:28 PM.]
  13. Okay..I must have gotten happy with the "post now" key 'cuz it came up twice. My apologies. [This message was edited by JaimeeG on June 22, 2003 at 11:27 PM.]
  14. Southern caching was MUCH better. We decided to go down toward Merced since there are lots of caches there we haven't done. We even got to find one that we found last year! It was archived for some reason but never was pulled. I always wonder why someone would archive a cache, make some note as to why it is archived, and then never bother to go remove it. Oh well..to each his/her own! Now to find a clean-up day to try and find all those ugly ones we missed today! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  15. Wow..what a day of caching. We decided to venture north and hit some of the Stockton caches that are newer. I don't know if the coordinates were done hastily or both of our GPSr's were just testy, but we couldn't zero out to save us today. The coordinate issues, combined with the fact that the majority of these caches seemed to be located on corners of busy streets with no parking (or dangerous parking), made me decide to avoid the Stockton area for the next while. Now, dare we venture south to where I was invited earlier today?? I am thinking that someone is trying to get even with me for the "Hey Mister...can I help you with something?" that I pulled a while back!!!! We did get the Stop, Go, Go, Go cache that we struck out on yesterday; amazing what the proper coordinates does for a hunt. Have a good week all! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  16. quote:Originally posted by Green Achers:A couple of the fun moving caches are http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=51289 which is very active No wonder we couldn't find that cache yesterday; we were using the coordinates listed on the top of the page, which I guess hadn't been updated since the cache moved. We were looking near the Macfamily's new cache, but I guess that is where you, Bill, picked it up, right?? For those who have not yet done Get The Point...do it! That is a really fun cache. We spent a lot of time laughing at some of the things we did in order to find the cache. I am sure if anyone was watching us, they thought we were bonkers. We went up to Sacramento yesterday and did a few caches along the way. We only looked for and found 7 and then went and visited my mom for a few hours. Might go back out today and look for some of the area caches we haven't done yet. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  17. Ron, Ron, Ron I am glad that someone had good luck communicating with them. Myself and a few others had nothing but trouble, which is why I decided to stop placing caches. I appreciate the work that the approvers do and understand it is voluntary, they have to follow the rules, etc., etc. For the most part, the approvers I have had contact with have been cool and easy to deal with. There are just those select few who seem to let their approver status inflate their ego and send them off on a power trip. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  18. quote:Originally posted by Ron Streeter:By the way, the Flyers are now doing more caching (and no approving). Ron Well, at least some things are looking up in the world of caching!! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  19. Wow...that guy is quite the case! Since he is so hellbent on finding these caches, why don't you Sacto peoples hide some special ones just for him?? I know you are a creative bunch, and I am sure you could hide some caches that would most likely make him not want to look for any more. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  20. There are a couple fellows from the San Franscisco Bay area of California who have had two big days thus far. One day was 51 finds, and the other was 74 finds. There were three (I think) of them along for the 74 day, and they seemed to have everything planned out down to the wire. I am not quite sure how an individual would accomplish that high of a number in one day though..yikes! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  21. quote:Originally posted by Ron Streeter:. No code caches, no knives....soon, no caches ! Oh well, if they stop approving caches, we can just all go around and find those that have been temporarily disabled for the last six months but are still in place!! 22. quote:Originally posted by CaptainGPS:Especially when considering the history of the word 'eureka' indicates that it was not a redundant statement. 23. quote:Originally posted by Ron Streeter:Here is Ranger10's answer to my email to him. ************** Since it is in an area where you are not supposed to be, it will probably be gone when I find it. That's an interesting statement. If it's gone, how will he find it?? So, this guy basically suckered you into a hint so that he could intentionally find and remove your cache? Someone has WAY too much time on their hands. I know of some very worthwhile organizations that could use some volunteers if he needs something to do in his spare time. Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  24. Thanks for the info Marky. I had looked at the website and was not at all disappointed to see there were really no BIG rides (I don't like 'em). The gardens look really fun to explore! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
  25. Has anyone here been to the Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy? We were thinking of going over there, and I just wondered if anyone had visited and had an opinion of the park. Thanks! Jaimee "What a fine thing it is to have an intellect, and room enough in the seat of your breeches to hold it."
