  1. I have one near home that took three tries to actually log it. First try was a true DNF - I did not find it and I logged it that way but included the fact that terrain held me back. Second try got me semi-success. I found it but couldn't physically get to it. I could see it out on the ledge over a deep ravine, but being alone and not having any safety rope kept me from actually touching it or logging it. I don't count a find unless I actually sign the log in the cache. This attempt would qualify as a Note if I were to log it. Third try was with backup! Complete success! We got the cache, signed the log and then logged it as a "FIND".
  2. I just went totally paperless using a Garmin Legend C and Palm m105 And I absolutely hate having to go through multiple programs to massage data into different formats. Most efficient way I've found so far is to download the Pocket Query (.gpx format) and upload into GSAK. You need GSAK ($20, voluntary) on your PC and Cachemate ($8, required) on your Palm. You can also export your Found List once a week and GSAK will update automatically. Write a easy filter for for "not found by me" and you are ready to export to both the Palm and the GPSr. GSAK will then export all the info you need (including hints, previous 5 logs, description, waypoint name, size, difficulty, terrain, etc.) to your Palm. GSAK also can download the same set of waypoints directly with into your GPSr. No problems. Then when you are caching you can log your find on the cache page in your Palm (includes space for Took, Left and TBs - but no comments - just add it to one of the three fields). I understand you can also automatically upload your logs ingo GeoCaching.com but haven't tried that yet.
  3. Just a note on the Garmin Mapsource files. I just got a Legend C and the Mapsource (ver. 6.0) provided in the package only uses the .gdb format, not .gpx. The file I ended up using was GPSBabelGUI. It was free. Don't know yet if it's the best but at least I was able to download a full 20 cache list from Geocaching.com as a .loc file, convert it to both .mps and .gdb. Both files then worked with Mapsource. There's sufficient info in the file to go caching.
  4. Or, even better, add that link (http://www.geocachingadmin.com/search.pl) to the Home page in the lefthand bar.
  5. Thanks for the insight. Didn't find that forum. Have moved it there. Thanks again.
  6. Just an idea - Place a goto Waypoint box on the My Account page to facilitate logging finds. Call it "Log a Find". Now you need to find the page through "Hide and Seek".
