  1. You may be in for a nasty surprise! The Legend C (and Vista C) will auto-route ONLY when fed data from Garmin's City Select or City Navigator software discs. Both these packages are v. expensive, particularly when compared to the cost of the hardware. If you already own a Garmin unit that came with one of these software packages included, you can use the second "unlock" available with the software. You can then use it with your Legend. Note - I suspect that the 8 mb of memory in the Legend C would not be big enough for anything other than the smallest map "tile" in CN. City Select is the preferred software for the Legends. I have a StreetPilot 3 that included CN. I unlocked the software to my Vista C using the second "unlock". The software works superbly in it. Yeah i would agree that the city select maps are way too expensive. I have been using the basic Legend in the car with Garmin Metroguide software, this has suited me fine so far, but I do have to plan all my routes before hand at home (or take out the laptop with me), very impressed with the Legend/Laptop/Nroute setup except that my wife doesn't like having the laptop on her knee whilst I am driving ... so I think I will invest in a TomTom Go 300 for the car.
  2. Bought the basic Legend but contemplating buying the Legend C just for its routing capabilities...... Although I have thought of buying Tom Tom for the car and using my Legend for when I'm on foot. I have been more than happy so far with the basic Legend although it does seem to suffer under the lightest of tree cover Xiwolf
  3. Yeah if you can spare some more cash I'd agree that Webfusion is the way to go. Although I have hosted several sites with 123-reg and found them to be excellent 123-reg's basic hosting is just what it says on the tin.....basic. I must admit that the extras that Webfusion offer are worth the extra cash and if you sign up for Webfusion when you aquire your domain name from 123-reg they usually give you a special discount for doing so. 4. There are no hidden costs and you get several email redirectors (ie. anything@yourdomain.co.uk/com) You can easily point your domain name to your free webspace I have done this myself in the past. Xiwolf
  5. I've used http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ (owned by pipex) and they're quite cheap & reliable. I've also obtained several domain names from these. Xiwolf
  6. Thanks for the good explanation, never heard of that phrase before.
  7. Sorry for my ignorance, but what are wooden nickles? Regards, Xiwolf
  8. Hello again, I've been given some watertight flare cases, these may come in handy for caches. It seems 'Decon Containers' are rare in the U.K also I should be receiving some ammo containers soon. Thanks for the help anyway! Xiwolf
  9. Thanks for the prompt replies checking out the links and ebay now. Xiwolf
  10. Hello, My family and I did our first three Geocaches today and we're already hooked! We're hoping to setup our own cache soon and are looking for a U.K site that sells 'Army Decon Containers', if we can't find any we'll just have to use a tuppaware container and some camouflage netting. I must admit I'm surprised how accurate my Garmin Legend is, took us straight to the cache every time! Thanks, Xiwolf
  11. Hello, My wife, son and I did our first three caches today, and I must say we're all hooked. I was very surprised how well my Etrex Legend performed, got us right on top of all 3 caches perfectly, very impressed! Going to do some more tomorrow . Hopefully will be setting up a cache of our own soon, does anybody in the U.K know where to buy army decon containers? Any help would be appreciated. If I can't find any I'll use a tuppaware container and some caomouflage netting. Thanks, Xiwolf
