  1. I like puzzles, the outside and walking, natural light and success.
  2. I'm a pocket mess. I have thought about maybe getting something like a fishing vest with a ton of pockets. Mostly my husband walks behind me picking up the things I left. And I am mumbling.... I forgot to bring .........
  3. I actually see Muggles as part of the game. The ideas of finding hidden messages and not getting caught just adds another interesting and creative aspect to the game that I enjoy . However if asked I would be more than happy to share what we are doing. The name doesn't bother me. It is just a term for those who don't play.
  4. Wow these are all great ideas. Thanks. I think I'll set up two packs. One for the longer hikes and one for a stroll or quick grab. I have also noticed that it would have been handy if I had printed extra logs for some of the micro ones as the strips were full and it looks like the pen soaks through to the back. I stood back today and let my family do the find, basically because I didn't have the gloves and I did not want to be the one to move the rocks. So gloves and a walking stick are a must take for any of my future country caches.
  5. I"m fairly new to this and it seems like I have to always go back twice to make the find. LOL. When I do find it I am so surprised I didn't see it the first time. But that make it so much fun. Happy New Year to You
  6. Hi, I am new to geocaching by a few weeks. I go out when the weather permits. But as it has been so cold I have spent my time researching and getting ready for warmer weather. I want to get a pack together and I was just wondering what I should put in it. What are your favorite geocaching items you wouldn't want to leave home without. Right now I have a TomTom that has the walking route enabled. I have set up my Kindle so I can view the hints, posts and information about each location. (So I can go paperless) I have a pen, some trinkets, and a notepad. Is there anything else that you can't do without?
  7. Okay I just had a blond moment. I had named the folder geocaching but the file as bike trail. I was looking for geocaching when I should have looked for bike trail.... duh. Thanks for your help.
  8. I tried that. In the TomTom Home on my computer it says it is on the device. But when I turn on the device it is not there. Odd
  9. Hi, New to geocaching. I have a Tomtom which I got just this Christmas. I know how to input coordinates but I want to know how to load Pocket Queries. So far I have made the pocket Queries. Saved and emailed as a .loc file. Opened it with GSAK Exported it to Tomtom POI file. (which actually saved it as 2 files a .bmp and a .ov2) I know I need to drag and drop the file from my computer to the map (POI) folder for my Tomtom The question is. 2 files one is a .bmp and a .ov2 How do I convert them to a POI file that the tomtom can read? It looks like I need them to be .png and .toc files. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.
  10. I've seen some where everything was put in a zip lock plastic bag and then the bag was placed in the cache. This way the goodies were protected.
  11. That's exactly how I do it. Thanks for all the replies. I'll keep doing it this way. I want to track how many times I have gone out. So I'm glad to know that is how others also keep their records. FYI - I went out with a wind chill of 20 degrees F. and found 2 more caches. I think I'm hooked... It was so much fun.
  12. Newbie here. I have a question about how to log. I've searched the forum and this is the closest to the topic. Forgive me if this is not the area I should be in. Question: Talking about double logs. I went yesterday to look for my first cache and I did not find it. I logged it as not finding so I have the sad smile. I went back this morning and I did find it so I logged it again but this time as a find so I have the smile. Should I delete the first log? Should I just updated the first log and changed it to a find? What do most people do? Thanks in advance for your comments.
