  1. The TourGuide function is part of the Nuvi Macro. I suspect that somewhere in the script it could be disabled, but I have no idea. I personally like the feature since to me it is a big part of the Macro. Otherwise all I would hear would be the ding, and most of the time I would miss it. Someone else may be able to answer this: If the Proximity Alert is turned off do you still get the banner? I always use the alert feature so I don't know. I know this really didn't anwer your question, but it may have given you more information to find the answer. ChromeBeast
  2. Thanks to all. I went out and tested the nuvi with about 1200 POI's. All seems fine. With the setup I have I am completely paperless. GSAK CacheMate Smartphone Edition PilotSnopes nuvi Macro for CacheMate eXplorist 600 Kai Teams 200 Waypoint export Macro for CacheMate Using GSAK and the macros I export the waypoints to the Smartphone, nuvi, and eXplorist. Then out on the road the Proximity Alert goes off (while taking a break from work off course - working for myself has that advantage) I head off to the cache. Once I get close the eXplorist takes me to GZ (Ground Zero). Once back at the car I fire up CacheMate and log the find. Pretty sweet! Thanks again! CBeast
  3. Yes, your are correct. The missing cache does show up when manually "spelled". I have the proximity alert on and would love for the nuvi to inform me of a cache when I am close; which it does for the ones that do appear on the list (and it may once I exceed that the distance of the 52 caches). It appears that now I will only be alerted of the caches that are one of the 52 caches shown. For example, will I be alerted when I am near the 92nd cache? Will I still be alerted? I wonder why the first time I used the Macro it did show all the caches and did not limit it to 13 pages of 4 caches per page? Any help would be greatly appreciated. CB
  4. I used the macro one time and it worked PERFECT! I loved it! Now when I load the file using the POILOADER I only seem to get 48 caches under my Custom POIs section. The Database has 500 waypoints and the macro indicates 500 exported. Any ideas? The nuvi 200 shows about 4.45MB free. The file that is created by the macro is called Geocache Tourguide and is 1.83MB. Thanks CB
  5. Well,,, since a corrupt file could be just about anything; I'd say maybe you tried loading it before it was finished downloading? Also, try opening it outside of GSAK and see what happens.. Are you unzipping the Pocket Query before trying to import it into GSAK? Also, try sending the PQ not zipped. The option is there from the PQ page. Shane
  6. You can use Cachemate for the BJII to navigate to a cache using a compass screen. Of course this is only Point-to-Point navigation. Once you load the cache details screen up, go to the menu and select Action | Navigate. This will start the compass and satellite detection. Once that all settles down you can navigate to the cache. I only use this once I get pretty close to the cache (<.30) or if I have a good idea of the geographic area. I only use it for urban caches. I do not want to get the BJII wet or dirty. As far as I can see there is no way to export the caches from Cachemate and then import them into Google Maps directly on the BJII. I will look around and see. There are other GPS nagigation progragrams that can import the .gpx file just like Cachemate and navigate via Street routes to the cache and then use Cachemate to get the details and that last few hundred feet to the cache. I use a Nuvi in my car to get me close and then Cachemate to do the find. I was amazed at how accurate it was! It was right on, <1ft. Hope that helps. Shane
  7. Oops, look like BCN only supports touch screen WM6. No WM6 Standard. So I won't be trying it. A VERY important point.
  8. To follow up: I got it to work. I had my wife use her ATT Tilt and try to d/l the .gpx. She got a prompt to save the .aspx file. That got me thinking about ASP pages. ASPX is a Server-generated Web page based on ActiveX scripting that uses the Microsoft ASP.NET framework; ASP code is first processed on the Web server and the resulting HTML code is sent to the user's Web browser. Funny, but the Blackjack II running WM6 did not recognize the .aspx extension. I used a program called FEADIE and added the .aspx extension to the registry. Very easy process. At that point I was able to save the file to the device. I then fired up Cachemate and imported the .aspx file. It worked perfect. I didn't even need to change the file name. All I need to do was to select the option during the import process to look for all files. So problem solved. 3 days of frustration solved. Immediately a better mood resulted. lol Hope this helps someone. Shane
  9. I'm really fond of Cachemate and for the price it is pretty good. As for support, I have always had excellent response time when I submitted a ticket. Now for installation, you got the instructions straight from the developer. If you are not sure how to load the EXE to the WM6 device, use ActiveSync and the Tools | Explore Smartphone option and copy the EXE from the PC to the device. After that, use the File Explorer application on the device to browse to where you saved the EXE and execute it. BCN does look nice and I am going to try it, but the post asked about how to install Cachemate, not which software was better. Hope that helps. Shane aka ChromeBeast
  10. I do sync to PC, and use GSAK and Pocket Queries for 99% of my geocaching. It's the new cache that gets published in my area and I want to get to it quick. Sure I can easily write down the coords and enter them into Cachemate (which will navigate you to the cache), but why do all that if I can download them and import with no paper involved. I have no problems getting a .gpx from the PC to WM device. Actually, I can run PQ's from my handheld, get the emailed file and import it in to cachemate. I am just looking for a real quick way to d/l a single .gpx. Thanks Everyone!
  11. Unfortunately I can not get to the file at all. All I ever get is "this file can not be viewed on this device". I wonder if ATT blocks it? CB
  12. I have a Samsung Blackjack II Smartphone Windows Mobile 6 Standard (non-touch screen). Using Internet Explorer I will write down the coordinates from the geocaching.com website. From there I manually enter them into the WM6 version of Cachemate (incredible program for $8) manually. It seems that Internet Explorer will not allow me to download the gpx file for the cache. I used a program called FEADIE that was supposed to allow a file with the .gpx extension to be saved from the geocaching.com website. It still indicates that this file type cannot be viewed. "Viewed" does not mean actual viewing of the file, but downloading it, or saving it, etc. Does anyone know of a way to get past this? I can run Pocket Queries and email it to my Blackjack, but that is to much of a process to simply get one set of coords so I can get a quick FTF. My guess is a registry edit will do it. BTW - READIE simply adds a registry key for the .gpx extension. Seems like it should work and that is the purpose of the program, but it doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. CB
  13. Ok after looking at the site again, the links for these Googlemaps are still there: Geocaching.com Maps Geocaching.com Google Map Google Maps Google Satellite Google Hybrid I seem to remember that the map image on the cache page was changed to google and not microsoft. It could have been a GreaseMonkey script that changed it. I personally like the Google Maps better. Now, of to cache! Shane
  14. Yes, I also thought we also had Goggle Maps show on the cache details page? Now, all I see is Microsoft maps. Today, when I logged in I go a message indicating that the key for this site was register for another site and a new key could be generated at www.google.com/api/maps. I looked at it, but it looks like more for the web designer, not the end users. Thanks! Shane
  15. I disagree. When you create the region in Direct Route it creates am .imi file. If I copy that to the SD card to the Details MAp folder it is not an option to use that map. It only seems to work using the conversion program. I finally found the disk and got it loaded up. I was then able to move the map file and it worked. I do everything else in GSAK, but I do not think it handles the DR Regions. Maybe I am wrong. Thanks, Shane
  16. I can not find my Magellan CD that came with my $400.00 GPS. I called Thales and they wanted proof of purchase just to send me a CD that is used to convert Mapsend Files (one of their products at $175.00) to a format the eXplorist can read. They do not have it for download. The file is a tiny little utiity. If anyone has the CD with the Conversion Manager on it, coudl you please zip it and email it to me at smcbride.gps@rditech.net I will never recomend a Magellan again! I even read the serial number to the guy and he had my registration info, so they know I own it, plus this little utility does nothing but convert the .imi to an .img file for the eXplorist. Crazy. Thanks so much if anyone can help! Shane
  17. It does:) (Plus and Pro have it builtin or there are plently of utilities to do it for free, see GEC) So you are telling me that if I subscribe to Plus I should be able to hook up my GPSr and do realtime navigation? I tried to hook my eXplorist 500 up and it just wanted to trade files. Shane
  18. On webpages that produce errors the word "occurred" is spelled "occured". Just wanted to let you know. My clients always catch my spelling errors on my website. It was nice to catch another sites spelling error. Shane
  19. Wow, ok. I like the options. What I do not want to have to do is run a pocket query, but until I have time to look at the API's. I like Marks approach too. Now, if it GoggleEarth support realtime GPS tracking that would be cool! Thanks. Shane
  20. Dude, I hear ya. The things people push on you at the cache sites! I am easily offended by the cute little stuffed animals. Hey man, if they want to push those things on me, it's there world!. Those things are scary. I have nightmares. They might as well left a bottle of Jack D. I wish the people that put those Matchbox cars in caches would stop that too. I mean I'm a Ford guy and the GM cars really go against my beliefs! And if I see another lanyard from a school I didn't go to, I think I might just go postal! Don't make me go all Tyrell Sprewell on them! Oh, and those lame pencils! For the love of ink man! Pens were invented a long time ago and I personally switched to them when Da Vinci started that whole "code" thingy. And If I see one more log book!!!!!!! I mean this is the meaning of "The Man"!!!! What next? Video surveillance around a cache? Maybe fingerprint sensors? Retinal Scans? All his just to make sure we were there at the cache. Is our "word" not good enough? Geez, I could have around 14,000 caches by now if I did not have to sign those lame log books with a pencil, and all those lanyards and critters getting in my way. Oh, and that whole "put the cache back where you found it" is a waste of time. I usually leave it laying out. I do not like being told what to do. Another thing! Who thinks they can use US Army Ammo cans? I am against violence. These ammo cans contained munitions that killed people! What is this world coming too. Take God out of the schools, out of the Pledge of Allegiance, and out of society. Hears a catch 22: I bet no one ever complains about taking the word God off our money.....
  21. I think the ability to have a KML file that showed the caches not found would be killer! Then I could be in an area and quickly see what is around that I have not gotten, or if a new cache comes out I can see if there are any that I have not gotten nearby all inside of Google Earth. Anyone know if the API's are open for us to create kml file with? Or can someone make this feature???? I'd pay for this file/feature!!!!! Shane\aka The ChromeBeast
  22. I am having a problem with the script that I have come to rely on heavily. I do not know if it happened when I went to Firefox v1.5.0.3 or Greasemonkey v0.6.4. The problem: Certain caches will not display the: Google Map (inc Satellite) Google Earth links I now this sounds weird, but it appears that some users' caches will diplay the menu, but other do not. For example all of baskletlady_bee and umpire35's caches show the menu, while none of LegendPilot's caches display the menu. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks! Shane
  23. Is it possible to make a script that would show only caches that have not been found. I travel frequently and it would neat to pull up Google Earth and only see the caches I have not found in an area. But hey, the script is awesome as it is! I wish I had time to learn the scripting. I used to be a decent coder but it is something you lose it you don't use. Thanks! Shane
  24. I know this has been covered, but I couldn't find it. When an email is sent as a notification of a new/archived/published/disabled/etc cache could we please have the coords listed in the first few lines? Maybe under the name. This would be an amazing feature for me and all my caching buddies. Thanks, CB
