  1. I bookmark instead of watch to get away from the anonymity of things. If I'm watching a cache, for good reasons or bad, I want the cache owner to know. If someone was watching my cache, it would be nice to know who. I could care less why.
  2. Just my own personal observation, GPSr's are currently being marketed as a tool for drivers and road navigation, not so much anymore for the outdoorsman.
  3. I dunno. I'm not good at algebra. I think the train arrives at 5:00.
  4. Maybe I don't get it but how is knowingly allowing someone to cheat ok? I would definately not consider myself to be "stooping" by correcting an inaccurate record of MY cache. I'm not worried about, I'm just going to be making sure the rules are followed on MY cache. Surely you don't consider this to be the focus of my life. I have. And while I am working on those things people can sign my logbook. Any references that I can see? That is about bass-ackwards from what I see and the reports that I read at the Sheriff's Office I work at from the DEA, Centers for Justice, Uniform Crime Reporting statistics, etc. etc. So if you get arrested for DUI because you drove to the liquor store after running out of booze, it isn't your fault? Sounds like the same mentality as "I forgot my pencil but it isn't my fault there wasn't one in the cache" that seems to pop up from time to time in the forums. Yep. My responses are bold-type in the text above. I dunno, time for some of us to agree to disagree I guess. My viewpoint on signing the logbook isn't going to change. Hope I haven't offended anyone in the process.

  6. Go to "My Controls" in the toolbar above the Groundspeak logo at the top of the page. Click "View Topics" under the "Subscriptions" section of the menu on the left hand side. This will list all of the topics you are subscribed to. Click the box to the right of the topic that you want to unsubscribe. Below your topic list there is a pull down menu of actions that you can choose. I think it is defaulted to "Unsubscribe". Click the "with selected" button to the right of the pull down menu. Done.
  7. I too am sorry for this off topic post, but I would love to cache with others that I have debated with. Most debating is healthy discussion that usually benefits both sides of a debate by offerring different points of view on a subject. I would only hope that all of you would be this passionate about your points of view in person. Hey spot200-welcome to Geocaching and the forums. Something that you will notice right away is that we all have opinions. Don't let mine get in the way of what you do. You just got in the middle of one of the more heated, healthy debates amongnst us. hiker
  8. If it were my cache I would have to tell the non-log-signer: NO SMILEY FOR YOU! edit for weird text glitch
  9. When I get to 100, it will be any other cache that I would go find. Large or small, hard or easy, won't matter. Not to pee in anybody's Wheaties, but every time I get worked up and excited about going to find a cool cache, there is a little bit of a let down when I find it because my expectations of what will be there and the reality of what I find are 2 different things. Cache on and let karma take care of the rest.
  10. Depends. Is it a large, public fountain? Well, I don't have a fountain but I have been banned from every Home and Garden Center for 100 miles. Maybe I should look under the Waymarking site for fountains.
  11. I have seen a few posts where people run the cans (without dishes) through the dishwasher with the lids seperated from the cans. I think they mainly do it to clean them for painting. I just handwash mine in a plastic tub.
  12. Hey DocDiTTo, I didn't know you had to be at a milestone to do that? I do that after every find. Am I over-celebrating?
  13. Ditto on the garage sale forum. I just want the ability to hang up the phone when I'm done talking.
  14. I thought the spirt was to find the cache. Well I found one, the second part of a multi cache, but the person before me had run off with the pen. Seeing as how I had no pen to sign the log I claimed the find and informed others via my on-line log that someone best take a pen to leave next time they went. Should that be a DNF...I don't think so. Sorry for being new and not always carrying a pen. Now I learned my lesson but I still think I get the find. Go back with a pen and sign the log. It isn't the cache owner's responsibility to make sure that you are prepared to go caching. Boy, you must be perfect, never forgetting anything! Sorry some of us are human and make mistakes. I didn't blame the cache owner if you would re-read my post. I still don't see what the big deal is- is there some contest or grand prize for most finds? Those that lie about finds are only really lying to themselves correct? Who really cares??? I for one would never lie about a find, why bother? I never said that I never forget anything. I never said that I was perfect. No you didn't blame the cache owner, nor did I say that you did. The "Big Deal" is the log needs to be signed. Have you read the whole thread? Have you read the information provided by the founders of the game on how the game works? The assumption that someone else lying about an activity that you are involved in does not effect you, or the activity in general, is a bad assumption.
  15. Because the internet makes it conviently easy to piss and moan about it to others without having to look them in the eye while you are doing so.
  16. "Stuck"? Most threads never get locked. Right, but in the unlikely event I actually start a thread and the topic has run its course, question answered, somebody calls me a big booger head and I want to take my toys home, etc I would like to be able to close my own discussion. edit-brain works faster than fingers
  17. Here. Took the Bronze medal for 3rd place I guess. Looks like it was close. My post has the same link as SIG-MN's.
  18. Sooo, do we ask a MOD Squad member to lock our threads, or are they stuck open forever?
  19. It has been my experience that good nature overrides the thinking process. I'm sure that whoever moved it thought it was for the greater good, without thinking maybe it should be left where you hid it.
  20. You can relocate to the new shoreline, or make the terrain a 5 star since it now requires special equipment, and note what is needed to access the cache. Just a couple of suggestions.
