Wear pants. Bring a walking stick. Contact someone near Charlotte like The Mariner or adventuretom. Snakes don't like the hot heat much, but you may find one basking in the sun on a log. I haven't seen many this year, and I work outside all the time. Also, there are some good caches in the Charleston, SC area. To my recollection, only the NGS can place or replace geodetic monuments. Their equipment is more or less, survey grade GPS. It's just more precise than the handheld units. The data has to be processed in order to obtain a balanced coord system. It's for fun, but actually reporting benchmark recovery forms to the NGS helps very much. I'm a surveyor and when I have to find these things to establish control on a project, it's nice to see a benchmark report that has a recovery date within the past several years. I have seen them with dates back in the 60s. Those are a good bet to be destroyed. However, my grandma says to put a moth ball in your pants legs seam and the chiggers will stay away. I haven't tried it yet, but who knows??? It might just work!! Yes, I've found the prefect cache meeting spot. The coords: N35* 45.304' W078* 44.539'. Just a few hints: This place is happening and was really crazy during the hockey playoffs. You can get it ice cold or room temp here. If you're hungry, some wings or a burger may tempt your taste buds. If not your forte, you may have a bagel next door at Panera Bread or a tasty cajun meal at Copeland's. I'm up for about any night. Thursday nights are a good one for me, and most weekends also. If I need to get this party started, I've been known to throw down at a moment's notice. Just kidding, but I'm ready!

Nice, Snowtrail. I grew up in Wilmington also. I can't believe I haven't been down there to find those caches, but they're still on my list!! Happy hunting.

There are several caches in Wilmington, and a few on Carolina Beach. Just search for caches in the 28403 area code and that should pull up some near you.
