  1. Is there any way to ignore caches placed by a certain person? Arround my area there are 61 caches within a 3 mile search. 59 of them are micros placed by the same people. I don't want to search arround the city for anything. I got into caching to get out into the woods. There are pleant of woods just outside of town with what looks like some good caches in them. How can I eliminate the ones inside the city? -JR
  2. I live arround the Milwaukee WI area and I have never seen the WAAS working on my 60c. Is there anywhere to find a map of the WAAS coverage?
  3. I just put mine on no more than 10 min. ago. It looks great! I don't have experiance with this film as a screen proector, but my buddy has it on the nose of his Camaro and there isn't a single scratch on it.
  4. I found this through Google: http://www.elsinga.net/custom-waypoint-symbols.html Hope it helps! -JR
  5. My dad gets it. I will have to look for that article!
  6. I guess the title sums it up. I haven't seen anything on a WI Geocoin. Why not? If there isn't one, who do decides what states get them? Or does someone just create one? I have some ideas and my better half is a graphic artist. Any help is appreciated! Thanks. -JR
  7. I hope this is in the right forum. I need some accessories for multiple GPSrs ( my 60c. GPS V and my dad's Explorist). I will buy them online but I want to look at them first. What store has the best selection of products? Gander Mtn. has near nothing and the local sporting goods stores have even less. -JR
  8. It sounds more like residue than scratches to me. Be VERY careful using chemicals! Some of them will fog a clear piece of plastic like the screen. My advice is to try a product called GooGone. You should be able to get it at Wal-Mart. Don't quote me on it, but I think its safe on plastic. Read the label before you buy it, its kind of expensive. Something like 7 bucks for a small bottle. Just my 2¢ and advice. -JR
  9. I had a very strange experience using so-called "plastic paints". Following the recommendation of another cacher who had more success than me, I painted an unsanded L&L with Rustoleum Plastic Primer and allowed it to dry for about an hour. The primer appeared to adhere quite well and passed my "fingernail" test. I then sprayed a coat of Krylon Camo paint on the primer. It went on well but after about 30 seconds, the whole painted surface instantly blistered before my eyes. I let the paint dry and when I began to flake off the blistered paint I noticed that the primer was bonded quite well to the camo paint and the whole mess lifted off the plastic with very little effort. An incompatibility between the paints, perhaps? I've tried Krylon Fusion paint before but there was a very limited selection of flat colours available, none of which I found suitable for camoflage. I also found that, while it stuck well to other plastics, it scrapes off L&L's quite easily. The problem with your primer and paint blistering problem is an incompatability between the two. One is enamel the other is laquor. They don't mix well, obviously. Try a primer that is the same as the paint. Another idea is the texture paints. There a lot of earth tones and the texture makes it look more natural. -JR
  10. I love my SOG. I have had virtualy everything else, but nothing else compares. IMO the SOG Power Plier is the best for me.
  11. Last week, my buddy (who is GPSr challenged) was driving while we were on a road trip. I had my 60c on the dash when I fell asleep for a few hours. When I woke up, it said we took a slight detour, a few thousand miles off coarse. It also said the max speed was 700 mph. I didn't think I slept that long. -JR
  12. I do a lot of camping through out state parks. I always have the GPSr with me when I'm out hiking arround the parks. What is the difference between topo and topo 24k? Any ideas which one would suit my needs? Thanks for the help. -JR
  13. Sorry robert. I was typing when you posted. I didn't mean to say the same thing. -JR
  14. If you are concerned about memory, don't buy the Garmin GPS V. I bought it but the memory isn't a problem for me (I do really like the unit). I would look at one of the car specific models that garmin makes. The Street Pilot is a great unit. It has an SD card slot so you can as big of a card as you want. -JR
  15. Thanks for the quick replies! I figured it was OK but I wanted to ask first. Thanks again! -JR
  16. If you have already logged a certain cache as a find can you re-visit it to help a TB or a geocoin continue is journey? -JR
  17. Thank you for the help! The forums know it all! -JR
  18. I recentaly bought a Garmin GPS V with the CitySelect software. In reading in these forums I was under the assumption the software had 2 codes. I have a 60c and I want the software on it. I only have the unlock code that was on the coupon in the box with the GPS V. I registered the V with Garmin when I first set it up. Where do I get the second unlock code? Or do I use the same one twice? Any help would be great! Thanks. -JR
  19. I have made myself some cards that I'm going to leave in the caches that I find. I'm waiting on some coins that I had made. I'm going to be leaving these in caches that I really liked. (a challenging find, great location, or an especially good trading item, etc.) IMO, my sig items can be kept or passed on.
  20. I want to have a custom coin made for my special signature item. Where is a good place to go for this? I don't want to spend a small fortune on these things. Any help is greatly appriciated. Thank You! -MonopolyMan
  21. I have a GPS V with CitySelect for in the car and a GPSmap 60C with Topo for when I'm not in the car. I had a Legend C but I returned it to get the 60C. Nothing really wrong with the Legend C, just that the screen was a bit too small. I haven't used the 60C outside yet, just exchanged on tuesday.
  22. I just got a Legend C and I'm not used to it yet. I started with a yellow eTrex. Can I "hide" the basemap on the Legend C to make the map page less complex until I get used all of the functions? Any help would be great! Also, with all of my trial and error I changed alot of settings etc. Is there a way to do a hard reset on the unit so it goes back to the factory settings? Again, Thank you!! -MonopolyMan
  23. I have read a ton of books already on GPS and geocaching. Sometimes (usually in the bathroom) I just want to read a quick article. Are there any magazines on GPS or geocaching? If there are, where can I get them? Thanks for any help. -Monopoly Man
