  1. Cool! and its an evening that I don't have to work!!! (or at least so far!)
  2. My condolences to you and yours. I just found out that a very good friend and co-worker died this morning from cancer. Even tho' John didn't geocache, he loved the outdoors... I had been planning a cache in a local park, think I'm going to dedicate it to him...
  3. Hi and welcome! I don't live in south Jersey but have been known to go caching there
  4. Here's the main ride (at least when its above freezing: and where my Quest goes:
  5. I would say "Yes." There is a check box on the cache submission form to check whether the cache is "Active" or not. I can't imagine submitting a cache for approval, and stating that it is active, without actually having it in place. Around here our FTF hounds go out at all hours of the night to find new caches. Two of my new caches were found at one in the morning on a moonless night. That guy would not be very happy to be out looking for something that wasn't there . . . I agree... If my cache isn't in place when I put the page together, I just leave the active box unchecked so that the cache doesn't go in before I put something out in the spot; my most recent cache was found within a couple hours of being posted...
  6. I like caches in places I didn't realize existed such as hidden little parks or takes me somplace that teaches me something new. In general I perfer regular size caches but a well done micro is fine too (I don't do a lot of trading)
  7. Just did a restocking run on a cache I just adopted GC4AA4, Stopped by the dollar store and picked up a couple of toy bikers, some polishing cloths, roll of duct tape and a couple of other items that worked with the cache theme, spending about $10. Cleaned out a bunch of junk drawer crap that I round filed upon reaching home.
  8. I have a cache that seems to move quite a bit, every month since I set it out, I've had to go back and put it back in it's original spot (it has migrated as far as 15 feet from the place I put it originally) and it seems that the people who have moved it almost want it to be muggled (it is in a high muggle area). I guess they want it to be easier on the next cacher who comes along or for some reason they think they should put the cache where they think it should be and not where I placed it... sigh... yesterday where I put it back, I was with a friend who zeroed out the cords at the correct spot (he has a Magellen, I have a Garmin and we both got the same reading.... guess I'll have to do a monthly maintanace run just to make sure the cache is where its supposed to be.
  9. I have a Fuji FinePix A210 point and shoot that I carry everywhere; fits very nicely in my tankbag on my motorcycle. Takes 2 AA batteries, 128meg card fits about 168 pics shooting at 3.2 megapixels. Use a Fuji S20 or a Pentax 35mm for the more serious stuff.
  10. I've been thinking of getting a DL650 in addition to my SV650S; just a bit more off road capacity with that sweet 650 motor .... until then, I just use the SV650S and just be aware of what caches might be down softer dirt roads that the SVS can't deal with and not go for those (at least at this time)
  11. I like my Leki pole Fits (almost) in the saddlebags on the SV650S when collasped and I haven't had any problems with it doing the unexpected on me. Works well for this person with bad knees.
  12. I use my Quest for the driving section and then switch to my Legend after I park.
  13. EntropysEdge, or anyone else, keep me in mind if you want a motorcycling partner. I, too, look for partners to bike and cache with. Just shoot me a PM
  14. I ride my motorcycle (SV650S) when I go geocaching any kind of distance from home.... 56 miles per gallon!!!!
  15. Yeesss...... especially if there's nice twisty roads leading to the cache site
  16. I was fortunate that I found out that I needed the topo maps BEFORE I bought my Legend... at the time I got mine, Dick's Sporting Goods had a special where they combined the unit with the topo maps for only a little more than the unit alone.
  17. hehehehehehehe well I am partial to my sportbike myself So when are we going to all have a geocaching ride?
