  4. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=79163 4 tickets to country fest, face value of $80 for the FTF. It's a puzzle that doesn't require much in math skills (adding and subtracting) but it does require knowledge of local caches. If I have any trouble getting approved I'll pass on the info. 5. 17.3 miles away before the first one. And in the other direction, another 17.7 miles away. I was withing 20ft of one two days ago but I was too lazy to actually look for it. I had just ridden 40 miles on my bike and only got 18.8 miles away from my house. george Wanna go for a ride?
  6. Are we comparing registration dates... not THAT long ago. Just missed the cutoff. george Wanna go for a ride?
  7. I have 4 tickets to Country Fest 2003. We won them but we're not going. I'm going to put them in a new cache for a FTF if I can find the time. If I can't find a spot for a new cache I'll place them in an existing cache by wednesday. The concert is all day saturday in Galt. george Wanna go for a ride?
  8. quote:Originally posted by MountainMudbug:. Didn't teachers used to say "there are no stupid questions" ? As a teacher I can tell you there are plenty of stupid questions. Teacher: "Everyone open your book to page 232", teacher then writes the page number on the board for all to see. Student: (usually the same student) "What page was that?" george Wanna go for a ride?
  9. quote:Originally posted by Woodsters Outdoors:A flowerbed is environment. Environment is everything around you. Bushwacking does cause damage to the environment. So if you step on a flower you damage the environment. What if a deer eats the flower? What if deer graze on grasses in a medow? Are they damaging the environment? Nature is in a constant state of flux, live things die and dead things feed live things. (Enter Elton John singing "The circle of life") Stepping on a flower doesn't damage the environment. It's just that flowers are prettier when they're not squashed. george Wanna go for a ride?

  12. I gained weight geocaching, something in the 20lb range. I had to get back on the bike to get a real workout. I've lost about 10 of it, the next 10 will be harder, and the next 10 after that will require some big miles on the bike. george Wanna go for a ride?
  13. There was a local cacher who hunted without a gps who used to leave these as a signature trade item. I took one when I came across it. george Wanna go for a ride?
  14. No info from me. I'm not going to be able to make it to mammoth like I wanted. Conflict of dates. george Wanna go for a ride?
  15. Hey Fresno folk, I was interviewed for a geocaching article in the Fresno Bee. It was about a week ago and the reporter said he'd mail me the article. I'd just like a heads up from the fresno locals so I can look for the article online. george Wanna go for a ride?

  17. quote:Originally posted by Jomarac5: Having a problem finding one cache could screw the whole day up. Personally, I don't think a hundred in a day is remotely possible. ***** I can see 100 in a day. You can't linger at caches that are hard to find. You have to figure, if you can't find it in a few minutes, it's time to move on. george Wanna go for a ride?
  18. We got around 38 in one day with 5 or 6 dnf's. But, we had to kids with us to make sure we couldn't go too fast. It was about 8 hours worth of caching. george Wanna go for a ride?

  20. I've never had to worry about batterys going dead from not holding the charge after a week or so. I have 20+ AA batteries rotating between the kids and my toys. Digital Cameras, GPS's, gameboys, FSR radios, CD players and Mini Disk players..... but lately I can't find my rechargables. They've ended up in the cordless mouse, various remotes, and lately my wife's wet mop thing that has a battery powered squirter. Time for more AA batteries. george Wanna go for a ride?

  22. As micro containers go, I prefer tins to film cannisters. Especially for urban micros where you can attach a magnet to the container and stick them someplace creative. Out in the woods, I've found them and they're ok, but I think decon containers work better. george Wanna go for a ride?

  25. quote: muggle (MUHG-uhl) noun 1. An ordinary person, one with no magical powers. 2. A clumsy or unskilled person. [From a series of children's novels by JK Rowling.] "Of course, the team has had less magic than a muggle this year, with a 3-9 record, even with its new star player." Lloyd Grove; The Reliable Source; The Washington Post; Nov 27, 2001. "If a muggle stumbles on a cache, they sometimes take all the contents of the cache since they are uninformed on geocacher etiquette." Jessica Valdez; Players Try to Unearth Hidden Treasures in Game of Geocache; The Sun (Baltimore, Maryland); Apr 17, 2003. I'm on the word a day list too and I was surprised when they used geocaching as one of the example usages of the word. george Wanna go for a ride?
