  1. I received mine today and they are superb! The gold and the black nickle are my favourites. I'll be setting one or two off into the 'wild'. Thanks Huskies for these real nice coins.
  2. I've just spotted(and bought) some Huskies! Congratulations Huskies
  3. No problem with the delay, I know what its like to produce handmade coins as we've also produced some and I know that you always run into unexpected problems. The thing with handmade coins is that you can't just press on a button and out pops a number of coins, no, if there is something wrong it takes time to make moulds, cast, coulour, edit and fire again. I'm looking forward to the coins.
  4. I know I shouldn't, but I'm getting a bit worried as I havn't received an invoice yet. Could you confirm that there are still international orders where you havn't sent invoices for.
  5. Very nice coin. I'll have to get my hands on one! Not to be negative but this isn't exactly true as the Delft Blue coin is hand-made and trackable. Maybe there were some more handmade coins before the Delft Blue?
  6. Nice coins! Just curious... what does LE set mean here Luminous Energy or Limited Edition or something else?
  7. Thanks NotBlonde, for your responce. I believe that I owe you an apology as it appears that my comments were unfounded . (Phew! - Thank goodness, now I can go and buy some of these beauties!)
  8. I've bought/traded several South African coins(SA coin from 2005 and recently the Fish Eagle) and I'm quite proud when I show them in my collection but I must admit that this new coin is leaving more and more of a bitter taste in my mouth. I've refreined from reacting to this coin as I was still hoping that the cacher in question would come forward and present his/her coin to the rest of the community. All I can say about this now is that I feel that this is absolutely arrogant and inconsiderate behaviour . It's hard to believe that this is a cacher who never visits these forums and didn't notice this thread. And even if this person didn't know about this forum, how do you decide to just go and produce a coin on your own and then go and register it at Groundspeak as "South Africa Geocoins", yes, that is the registered title of the coin! I wonder what Groundspeak would say if the SA geocaching community complained about the 'claim' that this is the "South Africa Geocoin". Come to think of it, maybe I've got it by the wrong end and it's not a cacher at all and just an opportunist exploiting the situation, that would explain the behaviour. So now, do I have anything possitive to add? YES, it's a nice design. Will I buy or recommend it: NO, absolutely not!
  9. Umm, the percentages are different. the number still differs by 25, but thats not percentage. In the original there 7% aces, now there are 15% aces. seems to go against the claim that percetnage will stay as close to teh same as possible. there is double of the percentage of aces... just found it interesting, i dont care one way or the other, i cant afford them eather way What ever happened to sticking to your claims, especially when people are either prepaying or pre-ordering! I am very disappointed that you are changing the percentages AFTER some of us placed orders based on expected percentages (note i am aware of possible numbers increases, even though you stated "....THE PERCENTAGES WILL STAY THE SAME... ") .). The current numbers almost place the numbers very similar to each other (which some people may wish, due to the better chances of obtaining a set), however i was basing my order on the initial statements. How do i go about cancelling my preorder as i feel at this rate, it is not of value to purchase the numbers i planned. mm Anyone interested in cancelling their orders can send an email to support at usageocoins dot com. Thank you USA Geocoins Email sent.
  10. Quoted from Wikipedia: "The phrase Big Five game was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five large mammals that were sought in Africa. The term is still used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris. The collection consists of the lion, the African elephant, the African buffalo, the leopard and the black rhinoceros. The members of the big five were chosen for the difficulty in hunting them and not their size, which is why the leopard is on the list and the enormous hippopotamus is not."
  11. I'm looking for a Compass Rose 2007 Two tone. Yes, as is everyone else... I'll offer any coin from my trading list, yes, like everyone else... Only have HTFs on my Trading list...
  12. Nope, you dont have to pay the total amount upfront. At most you might have to pay a deposit. Quite often coins are sold before they're minted. These are most of the services provided by the coin brokers, you can have all of these done by the broker or do some yourself or by someone else: - design your coin (and icon) - arrange for the tracking numbers and activation codes - have them minted - sell the coin - collect the money - ship the coins - distribute the activation codes - manage all communication to the buyers - pass any profits back to you Usually this is done on a commision per coin based on which of these services they perform. They normally also keep a couple of coins for their portfolio. We did most of the work of our coin(Delft Blue) ourselves. Own design, manufacturing, codes, moneys, shipping, basically the only thing that we had done by someone else was a host site(my-geocoin.com) that sold the coins. From this site we got a list of orders and we took it from there. This saved us most of the commision but don't be fooled, there is a lot of work involved when doing it yourself.
  13. This is one of the two designs that I had for one side of the coins: (Text like "The Big Five" etc would be placed in the outer circle)

All coins have been shipped. I'll inquire into other coin shipments sent from Europe to Canada to get an idea of the shipping time... It certainly was a very exciting project for us too and I must admit that there were times that I had my doubts but in the end it was worth it, well, I hope that it was also worth it for all those that can now share in the coin.
  15. I've been working on a 'Big Five' coin for some time now. the difficult part was to get around copyrights and then I discovered the we had an artist in the family(in Namibia) and she made drawings of the Big Five and I've been working on designing the other side of the coin. I thought of making it a personal coin but I wouldn't mind turning it into a South African Big Five coin. What do you guys and gals think about the idea? And, obviously, if you're interested the design will be opened up to everyone for input.
  16. Received a couple of these beauties yesterday in The Netherlands. Many thanks! What does the text on the coin mean? Are there still people that (can) speak Cornish?

Shipping update: All coins will be mailed tomorrow morning, well almost all of the coins. Eight coins will be made again due to misprints, errors or small defects. Fortunately we have enough good coins to ship to everyone who's ordered and paid. I hope you like the coins. PS. I now also know how much work is involved in just checking and packaging the coins, and this is only 100 coins! Phew!!

I'm glad to anounce that the coins are finished !!! About half of the coins were were not up to standard and had to be re-made. From the remade coins another three will have to be done again but we now have enough coins to go ahead with shipping. We really appreciate everyones support and understanding for the situation. Shipping info will be posted on Saturday in this forum.

Well, it is certainly time for an update! Unfotunately the update is not as pleasant as we would like it to be. We got word from the artist that the final steps of making the coins didn't go as well as planned and that he is not completely satisfied with the quality of some batches of the final coins. We havn't seen the coins yet and will visit him in a day or two and judge for ourselves but we too want the coins to be of a high standard. So, in the worst case, we might have to do it all over. We'll also be sending out emails to everyone who has ordered coins with full details of the situation. We are truly sorry for the extreme delay.

Update time: We expect to get the coins into the oven this week. This has been a huge learning experience for us as we've insisted on doing some of the coin work, like the numbering of the coins, ourselves. And this turned out to be a lot of work. We'll be giving our best to get them finished asap.
