  1. I have the Treo 600/Palm OS/Blazer Browser/Sprint (fast & unlimited data). For the past year or so, I've been using it to log-on to GC.com in the field (non-WAP) to lookup caches, log finds, travel bugs, etc. Very cool. But for the past 2/3 weeks I can not log-on GC.com. It let's me enter the username & password the same. But when the next screen comes-up, it says that I am still not logged-in. Is this related to the new WAP features?

FWIW About a month ago, my Treo 600 was exchanged under warranty, due to a cell/voice problem.

    Thanks

    PKPaul.

I found the answer to my own question and it can pertain to anyone using a Palm OS with web browser. The issue was a corrupt Palm Blazer file called "web cookies". A hard reset will fix it, sometimes. In my case, I had to use a freeware utility called FileZ v6.2. See http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/filez.shtml or Google "FileZ". I used it to locate and delete the cookie file remnants (the Palm OS was not able to see the file without the utility) and then delete it. Hope this helps others. PK

The WAP site draws from the same data and uses some of the same code, but it is its own entity and is not likely the cause of your recent troubles. If you go to geocaching.com with your Treo, you will see the actual geocaching site, you won't be redirected to the wap site. We've purposely kept the two separate so that people can make their own choice about which site to visit with their portable device.

Well I was able to log-in to the Groundspeak forums without any problems on the Treo 600 PDA. I just did it now. Does that tell us something?

Also when I purposely enter the wrong password at GC.com I get the proper error message. So I can kind-of half log-in at GC.com but I can fully log-in at Groundspeak.

  3. Feature Suggestion (Cross-posted):

Can you make it so that when you search "nearest caches" from a cache page that it automatically filters the caches you own/found. It is a natural. I.E. I'm out at a cache-site and just finished logging a find, Now I need to see the next closest unfound cache from where I am at now. That would be super fantastically useful. Trying to do this manually is very difficult, is time consuming and a waste of precious mobile bandwidth.

    Thanks

  5. Cool, thanks TeamK-9 re: www.invisionfree.com re: They're just about the best free boards there are now a days...

I think I have set up "NoVa_Cachers" under Outdoors & Nature (right next to nudist & naturalist, DOH!).

Tried to change to "sports" but would not allow.

    Will try again on Sunday.

And still thanks to MGS for past usage.

    Anyone else?

  6. NoVa or Northern Virginia has been without a discussion board for a while.

The NE site still points to:

    VIRGINIA

Northern Virginia Geocachers (subforum at Maryland Geocaching Society)

    http://nova.mdgps.net/

This has not been working for a couple months, due to MGS site upgrade perhaps?

PS. Thank You MGS for giving us that area.

Can it be reestablished? or shall we spin-off on our own?

I, for one, do not like pop-up sponsored sites like yahoo.com.

I prefer something along the lines of myway.com. Sample:

    http://boards.myway.com/jsp/topicview.jsp?va=1&tid=995983

Any other ideas. I know there must be something better.

  8. So who is deleting our logs?

The following makes it look like DisQuoi(Dissapointed) is doing it without any explanation. That's not like him.

    Is Co Admin doing this?

Sounds more like poison Oak or Sumac. My brother in law had that last month. Kinda looks like burn blisters, it's a very ugly rash.

Could that get under my socks? Most were on my ankle just below sock line but others were on my foot.

Thanks for the link, I'm surfing it now.

Never heard of fire ants. Would they be in Virginia?

  11. Cure for mosquito bites / itching?

On a recent hunt, I got something on my ankle and foot. Looks like poison ivy but the bubbles/blisters were bigger - up to 1/4" tall. Stranger yet was the areas affected were covered with socks. Each bubble was round and separated but near others, as though individual bites maybe. VERY itchy.

    Anyone know what I got?

I treated those areas as well as several mosquito bites with salt. That relieved the itching quite quickly and effectively. Has anybody ever heard of salt being used to relieve irritation/inflammation or tried it?

    Method

I put two drops of water on the bandage portion of a fresh Band-Aid then added about 4 pinches (1/8 teaspoon) of table salt and finally two more drops of water on the salt.

I carefully applied the Band-Aid to each bite and blister. I had instant continuous relief until I removed the Band-Aid or washed the area.

I have been using this method for several months. I would love to know if this method works (or not) with anyone else. Let me know.

    Any other simple remedies?

    Comments?
