  1. This may have been due to operator error :-) I can see the cache now.
  2. I did a pocket query. Got a file with caches and copied it to my Garmin. When I went to the website to log the find a search page comes up that says the cache is Unpublished. If a do a query using the mobile app on my iPod Touch 4g that same cache appears. The description and log stuff is also there. However, if I try to click through to view the cache on geocaching.com I get the Unpublished page too.
  3. I see this icon sometimes on search result pages. It isn't listed on any of the pages that have icons and their meanings. (Types, Logs, Icons) Does this mean there are no trackables in that cache at this time? Thanks
  4. No, I think that post was correct. I did some Googling, and found this Garmin page. If you scroll down to the Maps & Memory section, the last line is: So it doesn't look like your GPS will accept routes. Thanks. I'm playing around with Garmin's BaseCamp. It has a terrible interface. Hopefully it will let me upload a custom route. durr...not sure what I was thinking. If my 1300 doesn't accept custom routes BaseCamp aint going to help.

  6. I did some searching and I think I found out what I want to do is not possible - but let me check. I have a Garmin Nuvi 1300. I created a custom route here on geocaching.com. After creating the route I did a pocket query for caches along the way. Results were around 70. I downloaded the results as a zip file. It was one folder with 2 files. A .gpx and a wpts.gpx. I plugged in my Nuvi 1300 and copied those files over to the GPX folder. I was able to see the caches in the Favorites menu on the Nuvi. I think listed by GC code. Now I think I need the custom route. Otherwise, I just have the caches. To be sure, I could drive from cache to cache but some of them are far apart. So I tried to copy over the custom route. On the create a route page I clicked on 'Create GPX of route' and downloaded a single file that was 'routename.gpx.' I then copied this over to the GPX folder on my Nuvi 1300. Problem is, I can't see the route in the Favorites menu. I do see the file in the Nuvi's GPX folder when I look at in on my computer. One post said that you can't upload custom routes to the Nuvi 1300. Is this true? Or am I doing something else wrong? Thanks
  7. It sounds like you are just looking at the preview. Make sure you select a day of the week for the PQ to run (today is Wednesday) and it will run and generate the GPX file for you. I think you're right. I didn't select a day to run because I thought that would apply to future queries and when I clicked 'submit' I would run this one query. I also selected to run once then delete. When I added the day of the week (today) I got the email almost instantly. Thanks!
  8. I just created my first 2 pocket queries. Everything looks good. I can see the route. I can see a list of caches on the route. ETC. I check all and download the waypoints. But I am getting no email. Nothing. I doubled checked everything. Nothing in my spam box. Nothing.
  9. Using Firefox to visit http://www.geocaching.com/ on a PC. Have new Garmin Nuvi 1300 connect via USB cable. When I browse for a cache I am able to click 'Send to GPS', my unit is located, and the file is saved in the Favorites section with a file name like, 'GCxxxRF.' Is it possible to change that file name (using something like Save As)or edit the favorite on my unit? Is this a feature that is available with the premium membership? In short, when I send the cache to my GPS I want to see the cache name, not the GC Code. Thanks
  10. Thank you for this post. My first experience with geocaching was when a friend removed his Nuvi 1300 from his Jeep and said, let's go find a cache. I had no idea what I was in for. We found dozens of geocaches in the SW USA on a road trip we took. I was wondering what advantages an entry level etrex would have. I had been considering buying the etrex 10 but it seems like I can have a similar experience with a Nuvi 1350 with the added benefit of being able to use it when driving.
  11. I'm curious if there are any geocachers who don't use a GPS? Is there a way to search for such caches on this site? I guess I'm thinking that the directions would be more detailed. Something along the lines of, 'Find the picnic table that is in the NW corner of the park. Walk around 10 paces south and you'll be close....'
