  1. I used my ATM card. It has a Visa logo on the front and can be used like a credit card.
  2. It can go into ANY cache that is NOT a micro. It doesnt matter if another TravelBug is there or not. Read the TravelBug page for that individual bug and try to help it on it's "goal", if it has one.
  3. LMAO "Stem" visits the Great Wall of China, Antartica, Iraq
  4. Put milk on the poison ivy sore - it may burn at first, but it wont itch anymore. I was told about this in Tennessee and it works. Goats milk is better, but cow's milk works too.
  5. It IS lame. But not worth getting upset about. There are worse things - cachers trading garbage for useful items, people muggling caches(with a GPS), someone finding a white jeep TB and then using it as permanent decoration around their house, cachers finding a cache and then leaving the lid off of it and out in the open, having the bomb squad finding your cache(in a remote location even) and blowing it up, the price of gas affecting your smilie count - I could go on and on...... If you meet the cacher at an event, just pretend at first that you dont know that they logged their own caches as a find. Then, ask him/her how many finds that they have. When they respond, open your eyes real wide and exclaim "WOW". Next, say "Wait, arent YOU the cacher that logged their own caches as a find?" After they try to explain - let out a HUGE laugh. The more people around the better. Try it.
  6. I had never heard of it before. Then one day, I was hiking in the woods and I heard a voice exclaim "MUGGLE!!!!" Next thing I knew, I was in a headlock and hogtied by 5 or more people. They carried me off to a secret cave lit only with aromatherapy candles and with a giant image of Jeremy on the wall. There was several GPSr's around a giant ammobox altar, where I was "initiated" over the course of several days. WHY?? Isn't that how all of you guys got in ????
  7. Normally I would say there is something wrong with that. But in this case, I know the cacher and I would say the drop was unusual, but adequate. Does the end justify the means? Who knows?
  8. I'd look for something hanging from a nail. OR, it could mean you have to be hammered in order to find it !
  9. I'm sorry, but I just don't see what the fuss is about. I dont see anything wrong with this response.
  10. I was thinking about hiding one inside a mall. I noticed a local mall had windows up high, so I brought in my GPS and got some signals! I was going to get permission, and try to think of the most devious hide - as it would have to be without getting muggled.
  11. Ok, THANKS! I'll check that one out. Caches which are close to climbing spots, but not necessarily rappel-to-caches is what I was looking for. Its great to cache and then explore around a little.
  12. I live in south Jersey and this past winter I moved back here from the eastern Tennessee/ Western NCarolina area. I learned to rappell and spelunk while down south and havent been able to do it recently. I would like to visit some areas to climb/ rappell and explore caves if possible. If anyone can recommend and post some good areas or caches in north/central Jersey where I could do this I would greatly appreciate it. I dont usually venture much past Trenton with the price of gas being what it is, but if there is some caving or climbing to be done I'm there! Thanks!
  13. You think that is strange? This TB was last seen (or logged)in Texas. Somehow the card (which explains its goals) ends up in Utah. Then, a cacher finds the card and moves it to Delaware and logs it. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...85-811407ca83d6 I visited the cache in Delaware and saw the card. I was looking for a white Jeep which was supposedly left in the cache and is MIA.
  14. I would copy and paste everything from the old page to a new one and resubmit it. Post a note at the bottom and explain what happened.
  15. There are a lot of variables. Generally, I can see 35mm film cans being ok to leave partially in the ground as log as they are not covered with any dirt(keep in mind that they will absorb moisture and are not waterproof) However, the ultimate decision is up to the owner or land manager. I dont believe that this site would deny a listing if the cacher received permission. In a cemetary, never even if the cacher somehow got permission. Getting permission is not a bad thing. In my experience, people will generally welcome geocaching. However, if you dont communicate or ask ahead, a land manager who would have normally have said yes, would propably not like the surprize (after finding out about it through other channels) and be turned off.
  16. I need some help here. I moved away from the Oak Ridge, Tennessee area at the end of Dec 2004. At the time I had a hide that I put up for adoption. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d0-3bc09f1b32d1 It was originally a regular cache, but after being muggled a few times I changed it to a multi. The cacher that agreed to adopt it does not seen interested in taking care of it. It has been disabled since April 29 when part 2 went missing. I need someone to check on part 3 and tell me its condition if it is still there. I dont have the coords, but I can give good directions to it - it is not far from part 1. Also, if it IS there it would be nice if someone else could take it off of RobbieNeutron's hands. If it is not there, then let me know and I think the best solution would be for me to post a "NEEDS ARCHIVED" note. Any volunteers near Oak Ridge?
  17. This log made my day http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...0c-1ffd3781c529 a previous visitor had complained that the terrain was too rough(male) and then a few weeks later two cachers(female) find it and one exclaims that it was her favorite to date! THAT made my day.
  18. A good hide + a decent container = low maintenance(or none). In my opinion if you hide something where if it's put back wrong, or left out in the open and muggles STILL dont come across it - thats a good hide. Also, using tupperware containers seems to be popular, but I've found many that are wet inside. The same goes with many homemade containers - cracked, small holes. Lock N Locks and ammo boxes seem to work very well - as either they are open, or closed, no in between. Some cachers have just a few poorly thought out hides, and thats too many for them to handle. Others can have dozens and it still wouldnt be enough. You cant go by the numbers.
  19. I wouldnt worry about the buried restrictions as 1- it is not covered with soil, 2- you do not need a shovel to remove it, and 3- a 35mm film can has little impact on the area. If you dont want anyone to step on it, just get some imitation dog poop from Spencer's Gifts or somewhere and and attach it to the lid with screws through the bottom. It will resemble the first part of one of my multis but its OK
  20. I am planning a puzzle cache - at the posted coords will be a 35mm film canister with a note saying "This is a puzzle cache. Go back and do the puzzle DOH !" Just in case someone downloads a bunch of waypoints in a hurry without paying attention.(something I would do)
  21. Post a "needs archived" note, at which point the reviewer will reexamine the cache and it will be disabled until a logbook is added. Wait, thats already been done... Anymore posting is just beating a dead horse. My very last thoughts on the subject: A beloved "micro in the woods" is bad enough, but one without a logbook? GEEEZ I can do better than that. How about I hide a turd - with my initials stamped on it as a codeword? But then it wouldnt be a micro....
  22. @#$%& !!! I was fooled at first, thinking that this was a recent thread.... Who would do such a sinister thing ?? and WHY ?? Wait, I did the same thing a few days ago..... All of your questions can be answered in Getting Started http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=8749 http://nozen.com/geo/html.htm also try these: http://www.fortunecity.com/help/development/html/tags.shtml http://cedesign.net/help2j.htm http://www.psacake.com/web/dy.asp
  23. If you dont like the fact that the cache is archived just hide one there yourself. A local cacher around this area is archiving most of his caches. Most of them were good. Very good. I dont like that they are being archived, BUT - he has 180 hides. 180. He is welcome to archive what he pleases, in my opinion, after GIVING so much to the sport. Its silly to get annoyed when you can just hide other caches in their place - and improve them, if possible. After I hide 100+ caches, I will probably know EXACTLY why he is archiving them.(if I dont know already)
  24. A lot of talking, no communicating. I posted a "needs archived" note which will get back to the reviewer. Standards are important.
