  1. The datum was set to OS UK. Hopefully that will fix it. I'll verify it against a cache on the way to work in the morning. Thanks guys very helpful.
  2. I've just started getting into geocaching, and as a result I've dusted down my old yellow garmin etrex. It's giving me a few headaches though, as it's 113m out at a bearing of 306degrees. This means I can use it for caching, but I have to find a specific point which isn't at the end of the arrow. It's not too hard, most caches I've looked for are on a path, so I just wait until I hit 113m, then try to get the bearing right. I'm after a better solution though. Does anyone know if it can be fixed. So far I've tried leaving it in my garden for 2 hours to see if it works out the problem, but it didn't. I don't want to reset it as I don't want to lose all my waypoints, and I no longer have a computer with a serial port to dump the data from it. Is it time to start saving up for a new one?
  3. Hmm, so what makes a good cache? Is it one which is hard to get to so only experienced cachers get to it? From reading the boards, I wonder if it is the experienced cachers who take the bugs
  4. I found a travel bug yesterday. My MiL is going abroad in a couple of weeks - she is a keen hiker and owns a GPS so I want to ask her to take the bug abroad with her and drop it in a cache. Is that allowed? Would I then log the drop, but not the visit (as I haven't personally been there?) Richard
