  1. Thanks Patudles, for telling us about the Cache-cadians forum. And thanks for the notes about our 1000th. We enjoyed meeting you all last night. Good luck on your hike tomorrow. Will look at the caches you mentioned for everyone's posts. Cathy and Bruce of Team Pazooter
  2. As opposed to D/L'ing and dropping the gpx file into GE? Sounds expedient.
  3. Works great on a simple route. But high on my wish list is the ability to concatenate multiple routes into one PQ. Reason is that GE doesn't always plot the course as desired, so one must break it down into segments. Right now I'd have to run 5 PQs for my planned trip route through WA.
  4. Has anyone hooked their GPS up to their laptop, and tried using it in conjuntion with say MS Streets & Trips while flying? Any ideas as to how say MS Streets & Trips would interpert that data??? I'd think that that should be an interesting track. . . Digital_Cowboy We recently returned from flying to WA state from FL. We used Microsoft Streets and Trips on the laptop on all legs of our flight. We "pinned" the USB GPS receiver inside the pull down window cover (we used the window behind hubby's shoulder so we still had another window for viewing) and had very good satellite reception. (Usually 6 to 7 satellites.) The Streets program was fascinating to watch, creating a gps trail and watching the airplane speed (up to 538 MPH!). We were able to see altitude, bearing, zoom in and zoom out. Great fun to observe, even when cloud cover obscured our view of the ground. About the restrictions: we flew on American Airlines and were never questioned about the gps device attached to our laptop. While their manual states "gps systems" are not allowed, so since ours is only a receiver we had no problem using it. The steward was aware of what we were doing because he was checking the underseat power unit which, unfortunately, was not working in our row of seats.
  5. Thank you all for the good information. We are now looking at some other geocacher's recommended gps units. Guess we're not quite as ready to buy as we thought. I'll try to figure out how to close this thread. Thanks again. pazooter
  6. We've been searching and researching various GPS units to buy. The Cobra GPS 1000 DLX appears to fit our needs. Does anyone have one they are not using that they would like to sell? You can find and contact us as pazooter on geocaching.com
