  1. So what does the position screen show if it's not WAAS averaging?
  2. I definitely have W's on the sat screen. Just hope I don't have to hack it. Like I said I don't have a serial connection. :-(
  3. I had my Meridian on all night. I don't see what says it's not recieving WAAS. It showed averaging on the coords screen. I just turned it off. It had an ETE of 13' on the window sill. What's not working?
  4. So if you leave the receiver on for a period of time does it receive the timing updates?
  5. WAAS was working fine way back in '02. The Meridian has always had USB connectivity via the card reader. You just have to learn how to do updates and maps with the card reader. I haven't had serial on my PC's for a very long time and I still use the Meridian as my primary device. You can find the Meridian receivers in pawnshops and on ebay for around $100. don't pay more. You will have to learn all new software navigation if you're going to install maps.
  6. Maybe they disregarded the BB 'cause the Verizon GPS is crippled and they would have no idea how many people wouldn't be able to use their app. Imagine the flood of tech questions as all the Verizon users across the country were not able to use the app and did not know the GPS didn't work with other apps. Apparently the Storms GPS works. Who knows maybe a update will come out freeing up the GPS in the other models. We'll see.
  7. I have heard the Storm is unlocked, but many at Crackberry.com say theirs doesn't work either.
  8. What cell service do you have? Verizons GPS doesn't work with any apps other than VZNav.
  9. Actually it's still locked. The GPS only works with BBMaps. I loaded an app from APP World called Where. Didn't work. Verizon still wants you to pay to use VZ Nav. That's why they crippled the GPS. I think that's criminal!
  10. Not if you upgrade to the latest OS release. Looked over the change list for the Rino. No mention of improving map size on the card.
  11. So do you open Mapsource then access TOPO City Nav and Bluechart to compile a map set before you send it? Can you add to it after its on the card. Can you load TOPO City Nav then Bluechart later? I seem to remember every time you changed the map you over wrote the one in the memory. (I've only had Garmins with internal mem)
  12. Don't understand. I could make as many separate maps as I wanted with my Meridian. They were limited to about the size of the state of Washington but I could load all 50 separate state maps to the SD. I even could load two versions of each map, TOPO and Direct route. So 100 maps or so. Can you only load one map to the Garmin mSD?
  13. Hey! That might be the deal breaker. Thanks. The preloaded wasn't available for my venerable Meridian.
  14. Suppose I can discuss this with myself. Anyone tell me the max card size of the HCX units? Is the Rino similar to the Vista or the 60? Subject to the firmware version? So it's probably better to buy the Mapsource TOPO '08 and a 2gig card rather than the preloaded. Will a 4gig or 8gig card work? Hmm... Before the search for it responses role in, I did. The search feature sucks. Nothing smaller than 4 letter words 'n all.
  15. Apparently there is a West Coast and HI mSD, and a Northwest 24k mSD. Anyone, anyone.......
  16. Experianced a fatal error when I posted this thread! I'm looking at getting a Rino 530Hcx. I saw there is a preloaded MSD card with 24k TOPO North West. Any one have opinions about it? It's about the same price as Mapsource TOPO for the entire US.
  17. Why did I say I had the 520? I have the 120. Sorry.
  18. Even with the older models, I have the 520, they were known to sound bad Tx. Due to their water proof membrane covering the mic. I remember several complaints that I couldn't understood. I carried a separate radio 'cause of that.
  19. My puppy believes she is a lap dog too!
  20. I was looking forward to instant payment with PayPal, but I suppose cash in hand is pretty instant. As long as it doesn't get complicated to complete the transaction.
  21. Selling on ebay a Garmin eTrex Legend Color. It's used but in great condition. Included are a USB cable and wrist strap. Happy bidding! Thanks for looking!
  22. I wish! I did plan a bike ride in the Monroe Valley, before I head for Tacoma. So I'll be at Petosa's at 7:30.
  23. Petosas is good and Hearty!
  24. That's just it. What is the read write speed of the 500LE? I don't think that's the issue. I think you have to much info loaded at once. The Display/Draw speed is the issue. To many POI, to many waypoints. Maps, POI, and user waypoints are loaded to the GPSr flash memory. They are in separate files. As the display is drawing these items to the screen it has to read all of these files and draw at the same time. I believe that it makes the processor lag.
  25. I thought I read that the new Rino has the brightest screen offered from Garmin right now.
