  1. I couldn't care less if there is a muggled out option. This is what I would do. If I go to a location and for whatever reason don't really search for a cache I don't log anything. All the little circumstances that make me not search don't make me ponder over the reason I didn't find the cache. So I'm not going to be compelled to post me strife on the cache page. When I do finally search for it, and find it or not, I will mention the first time I visited the location. Searching for a cache and not finding it makes me want to share, because I'm still thinking about it.
  2. I have nine Leatherman's, to guarantee I have one on me or within reach.
  3. Interesting, however..... I'm taking the fam to the Neah Bay festival "Makah Days". Staying the weekend. Pepper said she wants to go though.
  4. Magellan Meridian Color. Still rock steady coords with it. Still works great for auto routing. Very glad I didn't go for a Garmin Colorado when I was considering. With all the bad reviews 'n all. I have a Garmin Rino120 but it crashes when on for more than 10 minutes. I'm hoping a firmware upgrade will fix it. I just have to find a computer with a serial port on it.
  5. Me either. To elaborate on the OP's question....actually, geocaching started a tad south of us, outside Portland, OR. But like wimseyguy said, Signal lives in Seattle. I don't think the first hide was called a GeoCache. It was posted on a usenet group, no formal web site. It may have been coined a cache, just not a Geocache. So Geocaching did start here in Seattle.
  6. I was not happy as I scrolled my track ball around with dirty fingers. I wasn't even using my BB as the GPSr. I was looking at cache pages and logging finds, but as soon is my fingers got dirty I didn't want to use the BB anymore. I think I'm gunna drag out my old Ipaq to view queries. Wouldn't feel as bad should the Ipaq fall in a puddle. Can replace it at a pawnshop for about $50. The BB on the other hand....
  7. My wife is a six year vet, and she caches with me and my baby. She was based in Coos Bay, OR. Go Guard!...
  8. I'm assuming in it's infancy there would be a need for physical markers the devices would read to verify with the network info. Eventually there would be dynamic multi app data that could identify what's being viewed digitally to interact with info and visual feedback to support his vision. First there has to be networks and apps that communicate so that this can be performed fluidly.
  9. FORCED to choke on WAP again today! OMG! I had to switch between WAP BB browser and Mini Opera Just to do the fist cache. There is just no connectivity or content on wap.geocahing.com So I have to use the fat graphic stuffed main site. Which doesn't always work with BB browser. Forcing me to switch for the third time to Mini Opera which is slow and clumsy! Even after I pay for queries I'm gunna want to use WAP when I'm in an area that my Queries don't cover.
  10. I applaud your vision. I foresee Oakly and Garmin creating glasses with integrated bluetooth and an optical H.U.D. Where waypoints would appear with floating icons at the physical location. Bluetooth 5.0 would serve audio and video chat and cell calls on the H.U.D. Geocaching would surely be a transformed experience. I just don't see your concept taking fruition until such technology is available. iPhone sux beans! hahahaa
  11. Absolutely none of your points support your proposal to make a new cache type/category. Your points refer to interesting aspects to individual caches. What do you suggest to make Ground Speak add your cache type to there site?
  12. Hardware specific caching is not going to work. Even if you made your own site for your new game I doubt it would catch on. Like Wherigo. The whole point of geocaching is anyone can do it. People using granpa's old GPSr or one you picked up from a garage sale. Even nostalgic ex-military who want to use a map and compass.(Can be done. Just takes more searching) Sounds like hardware specific "Virtual Caches"(banned) to me.
  13. Jeromy! Where's Jeromy? I'm gunna pay for queries! I want WAP fixed. Fix WAP Jeromy!
  14. Jeromy! Where's Jeromy? I'm gunna pay for queries! I want WAP fixed. Fix WAP Jeromy!
  15. So are these birds more powerful? My coords seam very accurate and steady. Better signal strength?
  16. I've already tryed an alternate app. My GPS chip only works with BB maps and VZnav. Hopefully they get an update out fixing it soon
  17. I looked at BCaching.com Kinda does what I want from the phone browser. Looks like I'll have to start paying for quarries again. They should fix WAP anyway!
  18. Verizon has a crippled GPS chip. I can't use apps for the GPS. Can I use it for a quarry reader?
  19. I would check to see if there are any firmware updates to be sure. I hope I don't have to upgrade firmware for the Rino. I don't have a serial port!
  20. I spent all last night trying to get the forum search to work and failed. So I don't know if this has been discussed before. I really like the idea of looking up caches on my new BlackBerry. Have GPSr Have phone set to cache. WAP.GC is functional but lacking. Gripe 1 no way to keep signed in. Why? Not everyone has a "dumb" phone. 2 the only way to look up a cache is by waypoint. 3 the find a cache is in decimal coords. So I have to switch my GPSr to decimal for the search and back to min.sec to input a waypoint. Why not have the search in min.sec which is the way it's listed on the cache pages? 4 all phones scroll. Can't we have the cache page info on one page instead of three or four? How long has wap.gc been up? Has anyone worked on it since it's been up? Enough griping. I can use it as is, just not very smooth.
  21. So I didn't see the old sats in the secret menu. The WAAS sats on the sat screen are solid blocks. I did a cache last night and had a sold 10'EPE. I must have lucked out and had my Meridian on during the update last year. Is there any problem with Garmin units? I've had my Rino in a bag for the last 4 years. However I want to use it this summer
  22. I entered the secret menu [01]. I didn't sat 122 or 134.
