  1. I kind of like knowing that favorite points are limited to the top 10% of finds from those that use them. It's pretty simple and seems to be working quite well. I understand that those who only search for highly favorited caches will most likely have smaller find counts, but that just requires them to be very selective in their awarding of favorites. Overall, I think the system is offering the benefit intended.
  2. Great video. I wish my daughters had an interest. They think it's geeky. Glad you're having fun.
  3. CJ, That is a rather passive-aggressive solution which some may take as condescending. I think you should state your position on your puzzle caches: From my point of view checking solutions "in field" is a nice part of this puzzle game. That is how I play. Please do not request confirmation of solutions.
  4. There certainly is enough ambiguity oh this site: From the Guidelines From the suggested Welcome Note on this site Either way, I think Groundspeak will only reinstate your deleted found log if you sign the physical log. Edit: I should have said that although I do not see ambiguity in the two statements above, many do and leave it to interpretation.
  5. Hmmm...Intro app log posting not a getting started issue. I think the problem may be TPTB have a grand scheme to dumb down the GC community.
  6. I keep thinking the issue of this topic is lack of accountability, not experience. However, the OP keeps focusing on experience. I can see the point (not necessarily agree) with the former. The latter has dead horse status.
  7. No because the cache is 1000km away from me... But I asked a local player to do it, since one of his caches was also logged by this cacher... I´ll wait and see... Funny, cache cop... Very true!!!! I like this game and when others try to ruin it, it makes me sad and can´t help it. How many times did you went to caches that weren´t there and the owner knew it but didn´t do anything? In Brazil, when I started less than a year ago, 1/3 of all the caches I visited were DNFs... Maybe you would be doing the same thing if that happened to you... Or maybe you would just mind your own business also... JP, I was in your part of the world a couple of months back and took care of one for you. Just doing my part.
  8. Either you posted to the wrong thread, or I missed something.
  9. I think I know where you are going with this question, CJ. I expect the CO to post an OM or Note. Without that, I assume no change has been made.
  10. I find it little interesting that the threshold between regular and large is 20L. I have never seen a 5-gallon bucket listed as regular, but it's actually < 20L. Pour 5.3 gallons into a standard 5 gallon paint bucket. It fits w/ room to spare. The measurement is based on what is put inside, not what the container can hold.

  12. Jeez, that is the poster child of requiring cachers to read the COs mind. I think a puzzle needs to stand on it's own.
  13. This has happened to us a couple of times. It's a pretty big deal when you discover it on a trip. We always check the gps now before we leave.
  14. Do a search of this forum. This comes up every year and some good suggestions have been posted.
  15. Don't let "permanent" scare you. You will be able to get the tape off after the cache is archived w/ some alcohol and wire brush.
  16. Here's the bottom line. The OP, although a geocacher, is acting in his/her professional capacity. He/she went out on a limb and suggested an alternative solution to removing them. The initial replies provided a few simple methods for archiving. The OP will do more for local Geocaching by showing the boss that unwanted geocaches can be archived expeditiously than trying to mediate.
  17. Sounds like you may be going across 80/90. Be sure to take a look at GC28.
  18. That's just about where I ended up w/ this one.
  19. You should have kept their NA log on the web page. Anyways, heck no I wouldn't pay any favors after that.
  20. Wow, it would be nice to live somewhere where that analogy hit home. I just can't get past the thought of drinking from the rivers in Ohio.
  21. I'm just curious. If a few cachers ask the CO (note)for confirmation that the cache is in place as intended and there is no response, might it get archived for lack of maintenance?
  22. I assume that would be fairly easy. Please respond with a hypothetical short paragraph for a hypothetical Maker Event and I will give it a try. Just take the Russian part of CJ's event description only and ignore the English version. Cezanne Thanks Cezanne. I only saw the St. Petersburg event on the map and it is in English. It was pretty easy to get Google to supply the following translation. I identified the part in bold relating to the event requirement. I like the comment regarding doing more such events if the attendees like it.
