  1. By being found and set into a cache or grabbed it is back in action and requires no action by you.
  2. You can run a My Finds PQ to get a listing of all caches you've ever found. I can't think of a way to just get your found caches for a specified time period. I'm not 100% certain that this will work, but try this: go to your PQ page, create a new one. Then when you get to the box that says "and include" choose the boxes "caches I've found" and "found within the last seven days". That should give you a list of all the caches you've found in the past week. If you're looking to make this a custom time period, then I don't know what to do. Hope this works. The obvious problem for such a PQ would be that it would exclude anything archived since you found. I grant that is low chance but it does happen.
  3. Thank god that is disallowed! Whether here or elsewhere - just link to your sounds.
  4. .... then go to this page while you are logged in. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/
  5. For starters - have you read the guidelines?? The Help Center? (both linked in my signature) Read them. Read them again. Start over and really really read them. Make sure your hides fits all the guidelines nicely.
  6. I have a somewhat different thought on the subject. If someone asks for a hint and doesn't bother to make it easy for me to reply, I won't bother to reply. All they have to do is check a box, for pete's sake. And if their reason is that they don't want me to see their email address, well then I don't want to correspond with them. Since the send my email address is the default - they actually have to click to NOT send it!!
  7. I have long advocated for an expansion in the criteria for Pocket Queries to include things like keyword searches, include/exclude by username and found/DNFd by various date ranges.
  8. The system certainly allows you to log your own caches as found. But most of us consider it a fairly cheesy practice. If you go check on it - use a "Owner Maintenance" log type - not found.
  9. It depends on whether or not they checked the little box to include their own email as the reply (which is the default option if they entered it into their profile). If they don't then you'll have to look them up to send an email.
  10. What, so for every gum wrapper, rock, or porn DVD I remove from a cache, I should put something in? Garbage is garbage. I was speaking of trashing things out in the context of this thread not necessarily the things you list - however, even if it was a rock, I would leave better then I found before rehiding the cache. Just me maybe.
  11. Garbage removal is not the same as trading. So you would rather the cache be empty than leave something in exchange for what you trash out?? Just because you see it as trash doesn't mean everybody else would.
  12. See this thread for information on general liability... http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=308597&st=0&p=5221752&fromsearch=1entry5221752
  13. They do watch and respond in this forum topic: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=139
  14. Trick question - obviously the terrorist criminal that tampered with the cache and planted the bomb would be responsible.
  15. Sorry - not trying to confuse. What I was trying to say is that IF (big if) the site allowed more criteria in a PQ like keyword Searches and include/exclude by user name in addition to the area specific options that exist - then a saved PQ in preview mode could be used to (pretty much) properly id and display any and all caches you are wanting to add to a bookmark list in your proposal. And keep the list current automatically.
  16. See this recent thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=308848 It doesn't help much but has an answer.
  17. See this very recent thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=308848
  18. I believe the main purpose of that feature is when you get to a cache and the cache is physically too small for the TB - but you can record that you went there anyway with the TB - log it and add photos.
  19. Not always true, in two of the cases I wanted to create and keep a list of a series. A pocket query might or might not have later been generated. As an example, one series (not a trail) was captured and mapped so I could specifically seek out those caches if was in the area. They are already in the GPS via broader PQs. I left it in place because there was no bookmark for the series. BTW, I agree that if the effort would detract from the larger project, it shouldn't be done. However, I suspect there isn't that much involved since the basic functionality is already present, and we have certainly seen lots of changes that really didn't improve functionality all that much. Think cache submission process, icon changes, cosmetic changes to the profile pages, etc. Keep in mind that PQs can be brought up and previewed much like a bookmark list - so if you saved all the criteria necessary to pull up a list of caches and then save to a bookmark list - the PQ itself could be used to bring up the same list at any time by looking at the PQ. For NyPaddleCacher - I too am quite familiar with the needed changes in a database to make searching new fields efficient (and in some cases - possible at all).
  20. You could by previewing on a map a Pocket Query. BTW - Do you mean disabled or those that are flagged as needing maintenance? (or both)?
  21. Excellent post!! - should be incorporated into the Help Center somehow.
  22. I think the energy and time spent on this would be better spent just adding more criteria to the PQ screen. Criteria such as keyword search and include/exclude by username. Ultimately you like to see the PQ results afterall. I know the focus these days is on making PQs highly reliable and as close to real time as is possible. I think there will be little or no additions to PQs until the dev team can meet those goals.
  23. You can display the stat bar from your profile page on any website: (right side near top) http://www.geocaching.com/my/ See our local group site for an example: http://www.wnag.net
