  1. It would be a neat feature during the new cache submit process to show the archive log(s) of any previous caches that existed in the past within (for example) 50 feet of a newly proposed hide. That way a cacher might be able to determine if a new cache can successfully exist for an extended period in that location. We all know that certain locations turn out to be more muggle prone or severe weather affected than we count on - be nice to draw on past experiences for a particular spot.
  2. It would be cool to have a 'feature' on the webite that would show the archive log for any cache that existed previously within (for example) 40 feet of a proposed hide so that you could see if it was a good idea to place a new one there.
  3. Original owner had permission. I am going to call the park and re-ask, for mine. Thanks everyone. Be aware that many caches get archived because the location is somehow now 'compromised' such that a cache won't last long there. Maybe not in this case but it frequently happens.
  4. Wow - if you had to ask, I suspect you already know the answer.
  5. Doing this is also friendly to cachers everywhere as the database and servers will be doing a bit less work looking for "too many" caches in the first place.
  6. Fully agreed - who cares if it messes with stats if it accurately reflects the D/T of the cache.
  7. Gentle prod the person that took it to get it logged properly - if you can. Otherwise - go to the listing page for your cache and you can mark the trackable as "missing". That effectively removes it from the inventory.
  8. That should not be a problem in the physical cache - just a statement of fact. The commercial guideline is geared much more toward using the website, cache listing page to promote a group or business. Watch how you word the listing and it should be ok.
  9. http://geology.com/states/north-carolina.shtml http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/states/index.php?regionID=33 I just used Google for these......
  10. General instructions are to unzip the PQ and then place the files into a special gpx folder on the device while it is connected via USB. Unhook and go caching.
  11. Funny, I use IE 9 and 10 on various computers and have never ever seen the banner. However, a friend brought it up but he kept accidently clicking on the torn paper looking icon on the address bar without realizing it. Took me looking over his shoulder to spot what the issue was.
  12. fizzymagic created the grid in a statistics program but did not suggest a challenge based on it. Some folks turn anything into a competition......
  13. The general accuracy of our handheld units is in the 10 to 25 foot range. One can reasonably expect that you will get readings within that error zone on any given day/time. Close enough. Not sure this little activity would be much fun if all coordinates led us within 1 mm of the cache each and every time.
  14. I have long advocated for an expansion of available criteria in Pocket queries to include such things as include/exclude by username and keyword searches in addition to the existing criteria.
  15. You need to select a day for the PQ to run. Don't click that box. Here is a great PQ tutorial - http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm
  16. Not sure what you are asking but logging a Owner Maintenance log clears the NM flag if set.
  17. Just a recap - turn off compatibility mode in IE 8, 9, 10 while on Groundspeak websites and it works just fine.
  18. My definition of 'easy' to get to from the highway may or may not match your definition of the same thing.
  19. Yes there is, My kids use it every time we visit.
  20. Have you tried using the caches along a route feature?? Still only 1000 at a time but along a specified route. Up to 500 miles for each one. You get 5 PQs per day.
  21. Seemed low to me but how often do you get to eat lunch with Jeremy in a Museum café??
  22. General sounds all good. My only real concern is that there is sometimes a fine line between memorializing a loved one and pushing some sort of agenda. For example: "Placed in memory of my dad that loved doing puzzles but sadly died in '09 from brain cancer" - ok and "Placed in memory of my dad that died from brain cancer. Please support brain cancer research." - not ok Not saying you are pushing an agenda - just cautioning you to be careful in your wording.
  23. ....of course the appropriate thing to do is clean out those things that you see as trash and then leave something in the cache in trade - hopefully of at least a little value. I do not think it is appropriate to take stuff and not leave equal or much much better.
  24. You can run a My Finds PQ to get a listing of all caches you've ever found. I can't think of a way to just get your found caches for a specified time period. I'm not 100% certain that this will work, but try this: go to your PQ page, create a new one. Then when you get to the box that says "and include" choose the boxes "caches I've found" and "found within the last seven days". That should give you a list of all the caches you've found in the past week. If you're looking to make this a custom time period, then I don't know what to do. Hope this works. The obvious problem for such a PQ would be that it would exclude anything archived since you found. I grant that is low chance but it does happen. It works to get a listing for the last week. Would be nice if it was possible to give a time period. andyand But will never give you an archived listing. So say you found it 2 days ago and yesterday it gets archived - would not be in the PQ.
