Cachers met while caching
Helen in Mustardland replied to purple_pineapple's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Oh, I bumped into a cache whilst caching at the weekend..... ok, that sounds a bit obvious, so I feel I must explain that the cache wasn't in my gps*, nor was I looking for any cache at that point, I was on my way back to the car from what I thought was going to be my 12th and last of the day in Epping Forest, when I saw what was obviously a good place for a cache, complete with handy barkoflage.... wait a minute, that barkoflage really IS barkoflage! Two minutes later and I have my thirteenth and totally unexpected cache! *Cos of something to do with gsak thinking I'd already found it though I hadn't, I'd just somehow managed to get it thinking I've done a lot of Purple_Pineapple's caches as well as my own, when I haven't. -

Badger and I bumped into a caching family the other Sunday, which was a bit embarrassing 'cos we were there replacing the cache they'd just spent ages looking for! A long time back, when my finds were still in double figures, I DNF'd a local virgin cache straight after work, but took a chance that the Land Rovers would shortly be along to lead me right to it (based on their then prolific deflowering of Essex virgins) and so sat down and waited... sure enough about 10 minutes later a couple turned up with a piece of paper and a gps, and duly went straight to it, so I was able to surprise them as they signed the log and add my name to it too. Does sitting by a caching honey trap waiting for cachers count? -

By the way Golem you definitely are male Geobabe material The Badger now has a geobabe bracelet, and was allowed to join the sacred society of the geobabes! I hope you made him sing the anthem as part of his initiation? -

Congratulations on all that tupperware! I am honoured to have cached in your company, mad monk-king and general pedestal for a dog that thinks it's a parrot.... From your Interflora delivery girl x -
Ooh, I got my Lil Yello Etrex taken back to the courier depot when I wasn't in. A trip to Colchester which I didn't mind at all really, though it's a long way, as there was a FTF round the corner I could do at the same time, and yes same as you I got a brand new Etrex in exchange for my old one, which was WELL out of warranty as I bought it a good couple of years ago now. This new one's got lots of exciting new things like units in yards (won't use them though), and automatic datum setting when you change coord type. Also can't praise Garmin too highly for their service, sorry not everyone's had the same experience.

Er, my husband (of all of 4 months) already describes himself as a caching widower... I have also been guilty of going for a LONG walk in temperatures of -8 deg just for some caches (Hazel you're as guilty as me there! LOL) and of walking round London caching til I got blisters on the soles of my feet, just so's I'd be at 400 for Shrops.

OK, lets stick with a musical theme. Who was responsible for a movie soundtrack scored for "a chorus of 48, an orchestra, 11 dancers, 4 mimes and a dwarf"? (and for a bonus ding-ette, what was the film in question?) Dunno but I'll be checking YouTube for LordElph's version after the next camping event. -

Badger found a firework in a cache a few weeks back, and obviously removed it for safety. We lit it later on and watched in decreasing excitement and increasing hilarity as it emitted an extremely pathetic show of sparks, went Phut and fizzled out. -

It was a (drunken) bet made between Tony and Arfur Smiff, i seem to remember... didn't the loser have to stand somewhere in public and sing something with his trousers down, or something equally mature and useful to society? Or am I thinking of when he had to beat the Moldovan football team at tennis? -

How many times did they tell you you were buying the drinks for getting too many e-blueys, then? ;-) Glad you're back. Assume you got down to Heathrow ok then. Big raspberries and general rude gestures to your unit for leaving you to fend for yourself after getting back from a warzone! -

Grrr. Grrr. (rant Alert)

Er, I let some newbie cachers who found the grassy indent where my cache had obviously only just been muggled from, change their DNF into a find.... thought it might encourage them to carry on caching, after all it was about their second ever go, and they'd clearly got to the right place. Should I be hung, drawn and quartered for encouraging this sort of thing? I suppose had they already logged it as a find and not bothered to let me know it was muggled I might've had reason to be a little bit miffed...
