Well, I am hooked! This is a ton of fun and I still can't understand why it took me so long to go and buy a GPSr. I have known about geocaching for a couple years now, though I never looked for a cache until this year. When I did go and find my first cache, I knew immediately that I loved it. So here I am at 25 caches found and holding the New Cache Puppy TB. Might as well go hide a cache and help this TB fufill its mission, I mean, I would hate to deprive it of finding and meeting a FTF'er! So keep a lookout all, my first shot at hiding and not finding is coming up!!

I live at the end of the billion dollar highway to nowhere. I actually just entered the zip for High Point and guessed at which ones would be on the route. I did pretty well. I definitely plan on upgrading my membership. I know that won't solve the route problem, yet at least, but I can see that it is a big help. I missed a couple but, all-in-all I had a very productive day. Thanks for responding though!!

Hey I can only see 50 wps on my map76cs at a time. does that meen when I get to my final location the 50 I just downloaded will now be able to be seen because I am closer in proximity to them now?

I am a newbie and plan on making a trip to High Point State Park and was wondering if anyone has a list of caches that are on the way from NE PA! Me and the wife plan on making a day of it and would love to hear everyone's input.

Hi my name is Carl, and I am addicted to Star Wars. It started in 1977... Arghh! Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy the show and stop analayzing the bejeezus out of it! I already scored a copy of the movie and have watched all 6 back-to-back. What a feast!!! Let Ebert & Roper do the job and get back to geocaching, hehe! (Dind't one of those guys die? DOH!)

Does that mean I am better off trying in late fall, winter and early summer? I bought the map76cs, I thought this would give me better reception, I guess not?

I have missed 6 caches in 2 days. Is this the wrong time of year to start geocaching? It seems the tree growth really messes with reception. Is there a trick to help with the reception, or maybe someone out there has a list of family friendly caches I could steal from them? Either way any help would be appreciated!! - r2d21972

Thanks WickedSprint! But does that mean I will be walking or locating a cache based on a pointer and not a map? Does the base map work for this or is the basemap just junk and filler?

Thanks for all the help everyone. I just purchased the Garmin Map76cs! Can't wait to go searching for my first cache. Next question now... and please excuse my ignorance... Do I need to go out and purchase anymore maps or programs to be ready to go geocaching? Programs like TOPO 24K, or TOPO US? Currently just wanting to go geocaching, but will use for driving I am sure, down the road (excuse the pun, ) Again thanks for all the help!! I am a newby to the sport and don't mind spending the money to get the best equipment out there. A tech-weenie so to speak! I have read a good deal of the posts but figured it might be easier just to get some more input from all of you professional geo-cachers out there! I am currently looking at the Etrex Vista Color, not that I know if it is the best or not, but it seems to be a pretty popular model. Really excited about getting out there, so I hope to hear from some of you all soon! Thanks in advance for the insight!
