  1. Washington, as in Washington DC or Washington State,

and if the State, which region? West, Central, or East?

Sorry about my lack of knowledge. Maybe I have to visit sometimes :anibad:

Of course I don't have the coords yet, but I have a suspicion that the cache would be close to the NZ embassy, so that would be washington DC

    Thanks for asking

  2. Is there anyone, preferably in and around Washington, who like to team up for a multi continent cache from New Zealand?

So the first cache is in New Zealand, second in The Netherlands - The hague, 3rd stage will be in USA - Washington - and finally will have the final back in New Zealand

    Look for this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5PG6V_nz-around-the-world-a-3-continent-cache?guid=8a3eabed-debc-4b31-9caf-dd7e43529f37

SO who likes to team up.

    Nice Challenge.....

    Cheers

  7. We don't have a sdcard in our phone. We tought it is not needed ?! We have downloaded whereyougo from the androidmarket and have a couple of Wherigo's working. Don't know why now a couple of these are not working. And most of all why can't I find the whereyougo folder on the phone. It should be somewhere. (I tried with the searchbutton too)

    Do I overlook something?

  8. I loaded the new version today. Bin out caching, unfortunatly same problems.

    I noticed also another issue:

    4) You can put a filter on your GPS. I don't want to see my "question-caches". So ticked these off in the filter. But the questionsigns keeps on popping up.

Of course can you solve this not to load these question-caches in the query, but I need them if I do a question-cache once in a while. Why is the filter not working?

To answer the question about loading to the unit. As far as I know I just use the queries of geocaching.com.

  9. I didn't know if it was common and thought maybe I have done something wrong.

I just looked on their websie. Cause I'm living in New Zealand was looking for possibilities to send an email.

Cause the issues I have with the garmin where really Caching related, I thought maybe some other cacher had the same experiences.

Maybe it has something to do with the map I am using.?

    Thanks

  10. I was also one who was (silly enough) to get the dummy cache first.....Remember the description and found the "real" cache.

I do encourage such a funny caches. It is what said before: it breaks the normal caching hunt.

Put the dummy back !! I love it

  11. I have my new GPS for half a year now and have some issues with it. This is my first GPS so I don't know if it's normal or not

    1) If I have uploaded 2 or more queries on the GPS. Through USB cable. If I than start up my GPS it stops halfway the startup. I can't do anything anymore except getting the batteries out. If I than turn on the GPS I lost all caches. If I delete the file and upload the query again, nothing happen. I need to make a new query or wait a day to run the query again.

    2) Sometimes I noticed that the accurancy of the GPS is not close to the geocache (meters difference).Even if you read in the description of the cache that the coordinates are sport on. What could be the reason that the coords are not spot on with my GPS? (not under trees, or between rocks etc)

    3) Everytime when I turn my GPS on, the cursur is still on the last location I have visited. It takes a long, long time till it turns to the place where I am at the moment. This is a bit irritating, cause you need to wait a while till you can start your walk.

    Thanks for your advice

  12. What if you discover that a cacher did "claim" a find on your cachesite, but didn't sign the logbook.

In first instance I just asked if it was easy or dificult to find. (because of GPS reception). He said it was an easy find for him. For me it was a bit strange because I had only difficult and dnf's before. But yeah maybe it was easy for him.

So I asked a bit more specific question about the cache. No reaction anymore.

I'm a bit in limbo what to do. Find or is it a do not find, because he didn't sign the log ?!

  13. we kind of agree with this,,

we were the FTF of a restricted FTF cache. it was our very first, FTF.

we had all the excitement and adrenalin buzz of rushing to the site, finding the cache and signing the brand new log...and then it was kind of like... oh.. where is everyone else?? it seemed as if we had been given a head start in a race, and therefore not really a winner

In your cache it was a really honest FTF. Because the mentioned FTF'ers where out of town otherwise they would have this one too (as they admitted). So don't worry, you can be proud on that FTF and are a really winner.

I don't believe in restrict a cache to only your "friends". Only want to give others a chance. Many cachers don't attemp anymore, I want that feeling back what others are saying on this forum. That you meet each other at a FTF. Talk and laugh with each other in stead of the obsession running from 1 cache to another cacher to be the FTF on all, just to make your list longer.
