  1. The Other day I found a Hillary for president in 2008 item. We all fell about the cache laughing. It was a classic moment. Now there's a reason to pray.........
  2. Wow, a lot of back and forth on this one. You tried to do a good thing by bringing people to a park and hinting that CITO would be helpful. That's all good. But you posted your concern here and asked for opinions. You are obviously worried for the welfare of your fellow cachers, and rightfully so. Reading over the logs, it's quite obvious this could be a dangerous area.....so I'd say pull it and solve two problems at once. 1. Your worry goes away. 2. Nobody gets hurt. Hey, you tried.......just place it somewhere else. My 0.02
  3. I would have set my Garmin to stun and shot him. Wonder why he was so paranoid........??
  4. Who?? ME?? To most dog owners the dog is family. To them there is no difference between snapping a photo of their beloved pet and snapping a photo of their children and posting it in their log. We don't think twice, and never did I think I could possibly be offending anyone by doing either of the forementioned. Besides, sometimes our dogs are better than our kids. At least old Oliver (above) didn't run up a 806 dollar phone bill by texting 'till the phone smoked.
  5. Personally, I am not offended by the name. I do believe that the CO knew exactly what he was doing when he named it, and it's wrong on the family-friendly level. I am, however, offended by Saabs and Abba.
  6. I've never run into that problem in my area before....even after multiple DNF's. We've got some good hiders around here. How about this......when you log your DNF, tell them then and there in your log that you don't want any hints or spoilers. It seems these folks are just being extra nice, and they probably have more cachers asking for hints than not. You have the opportunity to nip it in the bud, so maybe give that a try?
  7. I sure have. I've encountered a couple up in briansnat's neck of the woods and a couple further south here in New Jersey. The last encounter being the most nerve racking. I've further educated myself on bears in the mean time, and taken some extra precautions. And if it weren't for geocaching I wouldn't know about bear "nests". I've spent a lifetime in the woods and never came across one, which is weird because my job requires me to bushwhack constantly. The only time I've come across one (bear included) was while geocaching. Cachers have a good sense of humor here in North Jersey........naming their caches things like "Bearbait" and such. Fun :-)
  8. If you CITO a county or state park, I'm sure a ranger would be glad to give you a letter denoting your hours.
  9. Yes, can we use Marshmallow Fluff jars instead? Sound wisdom. That way the cache don't kill ya........ Just makes you fat. But that could be another debate all together. On a somewhat serious note and in an attempt to post OT.... I'd personally stay away from using containers that once held any kind of food. Not that I'd never found them and enjoyed them......... Just me.
  10. Hey all. I won't be able to make this one this weekend. I'll bump the thread when there is less water and I don't have to work. Have a great weekend!
  11. Thanks MB! It's quite stable too. I can get in and out of it on the water without tipping it over. Here's a link to the K-140 and other Old Town sportsmans kayaks.
  12. I have the Old Town Predator K-140 and I love it. Not too big, not too small. It has the same hull as Old Town's tandem model only with one (adjustable) seat. It comes with a holder for shotgun shells and other things as well as a rod holder for fishing. It also came with an anchor. I have to say the shotgun shell holder was only glued to the bottom of the yak and the heat took care of that pretty quickly. There is room in there for hunter and dog and plenty of equipment. I think it weighs a little over 60 lbs. though. I'd stay real far away from aluminum, it's heavy and it sticks in the shallows.
  13. This whole sockpuppet thing is getting out of hand. No pun intended........ spelling edit. long day.
  14. I thought about that briefly, then dismissed the idea. The parking areas for this cache are both parking areas for local businesses. I figured too many cars would be a problem. As it is now we're looking at maybe a dozen or so hikers heading in. I'd carpool with 3 or 4 people. We should go pretty much unnoticed. When I did this cache previously I hiked in from King Coles. That daycare parking lot sure looks closer....
  15. I didn't mean to ask it that way what i ment is that if you just became a member but have been out with freinds on finding a cache but couldn't sing it because you were prevously not a member I want to go back to a few caches that i know were they are and sing them but not go back to them again. I see what you mean. Sure, now that you have an account on GC.com you should feel free to revisit the cache, sign the log and log your find online.
  16. Place a cache wherever you want......we're all subject to review. Personally I'd be more concerned as to where you kept your trade items. WayFinders, I want to thank you for proving my friends right. They all said that if I posted asking about placing a cache on or near a nudist facility or venue that someone would end up making a wise assed remark like yours. Lighten up Sally. First of all, I said put it wherever you want. Secondly just because I added some humor doesn't make me a wise a**. You've got zero finds on your profile and your first post in the forums is about a nudist colony. How serious do you think I'm actually going to take you?
  17. Okay, Scottmandude got back to me again and it looks like things are falling into place. Email copy: "Hi: I'm around Fri June 29, July 12-16,july 26-31. I would like to join the hunt if I can, but don't plan around me. It's been a few years, and my memory isn't as good as it was. I think that the boulder that the current cache box is near is on top of the old box. I think I have the old coordinates if you want, not that it will do you much good. I look forward to the adventure." So looking at the calendar I'm thinking of trying to tackle this on Saturday July 14th, say around 11 AM. That way travelers have time to make the starting gun and the beer should be plenty frosty by the time we're done. I'm sure Fernando is parched! That's what I have so far... Anyone from up that area know if King Cole's is still in operation? I'm thinking of hiking in a shale bar for prying the boulders. Thoughts?
  18. Do nudists where shoes? Nope. Just a sock. Still an amusing thread. Should be fun to see how it pans out!
  19. Place a cache wherever you want......we're all subject to review. Personally I'd be more concerned as to where you kept your trade items.
