  1. We bought our GPSr's just for caching. Found out about geocaching in a magazine, looked it up online, sounded iteresting so the next day we went out and bought a GPSr and the day after that we went out caching. Been hooked ever since.
  2. That statement is the best way to describe a Jeep. I had a 90 Wrangler for about 10 years. 7.5" of lift 37" MTR's TJ Flares and a ton of other goodies. Had a lot of fun with that Jeep. Just sold it recently and now starting another project. Bought an '06 Wrangler Rubicon about 6 months ago. Let the mods begin. Oh wait...they already did the 1st week I had it. Krazymtbr
  3. Mostly just getting outdoors is good enough for us, but we also love it when we find a new area we never would've known about if not for caching.
  4. Well since playgrounds are ususally in parks, for us it all depends how far away the cache is from the actual playground and if there are people there at the time we're about to hunt. We won't look if the cache is close by and there are people there. We will hunt for a cache if nobody is around no matter how close it is to the playground or if there is people there but the cache is nowhere near the playground. I don't think playgrounds should be off limits since a lot of cachers have families with small childern. It's a good way to get out, find a cache and afterwards the kids can still have fun. Cachers without kids just have to use some common sense when it comes to looking or not looking for these types of caches.
  5. Unless it's a TB we hardly ever take anything or leave anything. The only time we do is if something catches our eyes that we want. Then we'll take TSLS.
  6. I've tried getting a FTF a few times and would really like to get at least 1 but the FTF hounds around here are just too crazy for me. There's about 4 in my area that really stand out that seem to go out at all hours or even leave work early just to get the FTF. So seeing how it is around here I gave up on the hope of getting a FTF. If I get one, I get one, if not...whatever. Krazymtbr
  7. I thought it was just me also. I feel better now knowing it's the site having the problem.
  8. I was reading my Four Wheeler magazine one day and I saw an add for the Jeep Geocaching Challenge. I thought to myself, what the heck is geocaching. So I looked it up, read a lot of info on the site and knew I would really like this hobby. I like mountain biking, hiking and 4wheeling in my Jeep so what's another outdoor hobby. The next day I went out and bought a GPS and soon after that my girlfriend and I went for our first few caches. Since then we've been hooked. More me then her though. Krazymtbr
  9. Golf is LAME and that's all there is to it. I tried doing it many times, to make my dad, grandfather and uncles happy, but couldn't stand it. They all do it as a day out together so that's why they wanted me to get into it. Now that a lot of my male cousins are older they're all golfing to so they all keep asking me start up. I just tell them that I'll start golfing if they start mountain biking with me. That ended that quickly. Krazymtbr
  10. A normal day of caching for us would be going after 5 or so. One day we decided to go for 12. We found 11 of them. All but the last one so we were a little bummed since we were perfect for the day until then. It took us about 4 hours to do them. We both said that from now on we're gonna stick to our usual 5 for a cache day. Krazymtbr
  11. We've done several cemetery caches and in my opinion all of them were respectfully placed. Usually along a wall that surrounds the cemetery, in a tree or something of that nature. We always stay on paths and never walk over any of the gravesites. Usually after finding the cache we'll walk around a bit looking at all the old dates or memorials, if there is any. There's a series of caches in my area called, "For Those Who Served....". These caches take you to old war graveyards and memorials and you can get a great history lesson at most of the places. I think it's a great way to pay your respects to fallen soldiers. If it weren't for these caches I probably wouldn't visit these sites. Krazymtbr
  12. I was an outdoors person before I knew about geocaching. I like to mountain bike and hike. When I found out about geocaching I was thrilled cause that meant I'll have another hobby in my life that'll get me outdoors. Before I even tried it I was hooked and I new I would love it. I was right. So when I go caching the cache is the objective. It got me to many new places I never would've known about or might not have gone to on my own without a cache being there. I have a few trips planned for next spring or summer that'll combine mountain biking and caching. I can't wait for this cold, snowy weather to be gone. Krazymtbr
  13. I don't dislike multi-caches at all. I just tend to shy away from the ones I think are gonna consume a lot of time just to get one smiley. If it's a 2, 3 or even a 4 part multi that is going to be a nice easy walk in a park, sure I'll go for it. But if a multi sounds like all the stages will take some time to find cause they're all cleverly hidden then I'll do it when I feel like it. Most likely I'll just do one stage at a time and still try and get a few other caches in that day, instead of spending the whole time for 1 find. Krazymtbr
  14. My girlfriend(QT) basically bodychecked me a few times already cause she saw the cache before me. Geocaching is an addiction. Enough said. Seriously though, I refer to it as a hobby.
  15. One thing I do like is that since they're not putting up vitural caches on this site anymore some people are now placing micros where they were gonna make a virtual cache so you can still visit the location. I've also seen some still put up the questions they were gonna ask just for fun so you can learn about the area if you want. In this situation, I like micros.
  16. It's personal preference on what everybody likes and dislikes really. It just seems that micros are the target for a lot of people. I use to be a micro hater but I'm starting to come around since I'm getting better at searching. In my area it's getting to the point that if I want to cache I have to look for them cause that's the majority. I will always like small & regular size caches better cause of being able to trade items and stuff. I just love hunting for an ammo can out in the woods. The only time that I still don't like a micro is if it's in an area where a regular cache can be hidden. Like in the woods. But on the other hand, because there are so many micros in my area I'm kinda getting tired of them also. That might be one of the reasons that so many hate them. They're just popping up everywhere and there's no stopping them. Krazymtbr
  17. Instead of taking them to the final cache first and then sending them out, you could post the coords on the cache page to be the first micro. That would have the first set of numbers for the lock and the coords for the next micro. 2nd micro would have the 2nd set of numbers and the next set of coords. 3rd micro would have the final numbers for the lock and the coords for the final cache. That way you can skip that whole part of finding the final cache first, sending them out only to have to come back to the original spot. Just giving you another option on how to do it. Sounds like fun.
  18. We joined May 25th and found our first cache on May 29th.
  19. I got into geocaching about 6 months ago which to me also means another way to get poison. Hurray!! I've been a mountain biker for about 7 years now but my whole life I've been an outdoors type of person and every summer I always get a couple cases of poison. It seems like all I have to do is look at the stuff and I get it. This summer I started carrying around tubes of those moist towelettes with me. I just keep them in the car and when I'm done caching, biking or whatever I make sure to wipe down my arms, legs, face, etc. thoroughly. I still got one little spot on my arm this year but that's nothing compared to what I usually get. It felt more like a bug bite then poison. Well like I said it was my first year trying this and it seemed to work. Good luck with whatever you try next. Krazymtbr
  20. Krazymtbr is for - crazy mountain biker. I just spelled crazy with a "K" to be different and my last name starts with "K" so that's another reason. I was refered to as krazy when mountain biking by my friends cause no matter how difficult the terrain was I'd always try it. And QT is my girlfriend, just say the letters fast and you'll here the word. She had her own account at one time but she didn't like updating it all the time so we just put hers onto mine and that's what she wanted.
  21. I've been a mountain biker for about 7 years now. Just got into geocaching at the end of March this year. Never went mountain biking to find a cache yet but I plan to. I'm getting my g/f(QT) into biking and I want her to be more comfortable on tougher terrain before we go out caching on our bikes. I have a few caches picked out already and I know what the terrain is like to get to them. Krazymtbr
