  1. Fiancetto: I think that's a great idea! I don't know how many people would want to make the effort though. If you have little kids, It might be a lot of fun to glue a paper collage together in advance. Brainstorming an idea that really wouldn't work - but maybe a box there with paper supplies and glue, creating a collage, then taking a photo with the mosaic would be neat. Of course, that's impractical in so many ways, just throwing it out there. What about a challenge to take a picture of yourself feeding the fish in a certain botanical garden? (Keep in mind they encourage fish feeding).
  2. 81! Thanks for the cointest! (edit - accidentally took a number that was already guessed)
  3. 30 2.5 I hope that the glasses are not seriously broken, that is such a pain!
  4. 19 2.5 Have fun and thanks for the cointest!
  5. 2nd guess: 16 caches, difficulty 2 3rd guess: 21 caches, difficulty 1.5 Thanks!
  6. Also, make sure you look at the chemical composition on bug spray lables, at least for DEET (I've never tried Permethin). 10 percent is a bit different than 25. I always use deep woods off, which is about 25 and is skin safe, (and the highest concentration I can find), however, I'm phobic about sprays and only spray my clothes. So, I'm probably not the best to ask. Don't forget to spray your shoes! Take duct tape - you can pull nonattached ticks off with it and keep them there if you don't like to touch them, but don't use regular scotch tape - they can pull out of it. Beyond that, I really cannot add to the good advice so far given. Good luck!
  7. 12, D2. Have fun! Wish I could be there!

(apologies for any middle english misspellings, I was doing it from memory)

  11. It doesn't show up on my browser - I'm running vista and IE 8. I get directed to a URL but it's just a blank screen. Probably just a glitch, I'll try again later!
  12. congrats! that's great news. I'm going to guess November 16th, 2010.
  13. Not sure if I entirely qualify, but I have no geocoins, so here it goes. Hi, I'm Quetzal1234 (I don't give my real name over the internet because it's unusual, otherwise I would!) and I've been a lurker in the forums basically since I started geocaching last year. My find count is pathetically low, but its been a tough winter here in Missouri and its still really wierd weather (or that's my excuse anyways ). I am considering my first cache placement, and I have a more complex idea for a multicache based off of a choose-your-own adventure pastiche of the three musketeers that I hope to place later. (not really as complicated as it sounds, and really funny) Do you know if multicaches that have more than one route to the final are allowed? I've never seen one, but at the same time I've never seen it prohibited anywhere either. Usually I cache alone, since my family is only lukewarm on the idea, although they will come along. I've been to australia but never New Zealand, though I'd love to go. It sounds beautiful! Thanks Keewee.
  14. Tentative June 12, actual June 13 at 1:00
  15. Hmm... today I'm going to be crazy early and say tentative at May 18 and actual May 19th and 1:00 pm. Let's spread this statistical cluster out a bit!
  16. I'll claim may 30th for the tentative, June 2nd at 12:30 for actual. Thanks!
  17. This is slightly off topic, but I've been wondering what people think of foreign coins as swag. As a kid, I loved them and collected them, and my dad still travels a lot so there are a ton laying around the house. I've thought about trading them because they're small enough that they can fit in a lot of small/micros. Of course, I only think that the unusual (well, unusual for the midwest!) ones are worth trading - norweigan (because they have holes in them, of course!), australian, new zealand, old german marks (which we have a ton of). What are other opinions?
  18. The book "North of Beautiful." Don't recommend it, it was a not so great book, way to melodramatic for me. but it did include a character who geocached, who I liked, and I thought that was the neatest part of the book. Most of my good ideas I steal from books. Edit to change wording on further thought.
  19. I have personally always thought a "choose your own adventure" type multi would be awesome. I have yet to see one, but I'm sure one is out there, as I haven't been caching very long. I have a plan for one based off of a pastiche of the three musketeers, that I personally think would be hilarious, but I won't put that one up for a long time, so I can find more geocaches first!
