  1. Thanks, I noticed that there was no longer a check mark in the "Use Default" box on the Export CachematePDB file page..once I checked that box it automatically generated "%Name" in the cachemate name field. Long story short things seem to be working normally now. I will download the patch though, just tohopefully avoid future problems. Thanks for your advice.
  2. For some reason, while trying to download new caches into my Palm PDA (using GSAK), I have lost all cache names in my PDA, everyone just shows up as "geocache". I am at a loss to figure out what has gone wrong. Anyone have any ideas?
  3. Hello all, I have just purchased a Garmin 60csx and want to start downloading waypoints directly to it. I have been using GSAK for a few months basically to just load cache info in my PDA. I have been reading about EasyGPS and how easy it is to download waypoints so I thought that it might be the easier option for loading a few (e.g. 10-20) caches onto my GPS. Whenever I click "DOWNLOAD WAYPOINTS" on GC.com, I get asked if I want to open or save the file, however it is defaulting to GSAK and not EasyGPS. I haven't figured out how to get from A to B with GSAK yet, so was hoping to just use EasyGPS to quickly download waypoints. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Thanks
  4. I began your Revenge cache a little while ago. I found the first stage but just did not have the time to carry on. After reading your recent posts on this thread about this cache and the following note from you on the actual cache page I have to say that I will be in no rush to get out and complete this cache: September 7 by jaredl (95 found) if anyone wants to fix up the coords on stage 3 for the final, thats fine with me. i was in a rush when i did it, and it may have moved since i placed ir, or not been bang on to start. just put what ever you have win with the coords i left. or write it on the back or something If you are not prepared to properly maintain your cache or to even take the appropriate time to ensure that the coordinates that you provide are correct, then to be honest, I just think you are wasting my time. I am well aware that as a cacher I can expect some discrepancies with coordinates, however, when a cache owner comes right out and says.... "I was in a rush when I did it....or not been bang on to start", that just strikes me as being a case of laziness. This is compounded by the fact that you have not (to date) gone out to confirm whether or not there is actually a stage missing on the cache. If you want to make it as difficult as possible then by all means go for it. Personally, I enjoy reading about people finding my caches. I would hate to go to all the effort of setting up a cache just for no-one to find it..that defeats the purpose in my opinion. My puzzle caches are not necessarily difficult but until there was an FTF, I provided no clues/hints. However, once it has been found I add hints to the cache page, because I want people to find it (is that not the point?). The cachers in the area are a seasoned group who enjoy a good hunt/puzzle. DNF's are part and parcel of the GAME. However, we will help each other out whenever we can, without giving everything away of course. This is something that cannot be outlawed. Again, this is first and foremost a GAME. Let's all have fun participating in the GAME.
  5. We want to pass on our deepest sympathies to the Dawe family. I stopped by a cache of mine on my way home from work for a couple of reasons, the most important one for me was to remember Tony. He was FTF on the cache and I found some solace in being able to read his log book entry, imagining him sitting there, pocketing the Tim Hortons coupon and writing down "wooo hooo FTF". 6. 1 of CGS and 1 of Yongecachers are still planning on attempting the Hilton Falls loop tomorrow. If anyone still wants to do it, let us know. We will plan to be at the parking area at 9am.
  7. Greg, 350 mile round trip, now that is what I call a full day of caching...how many caches did you find? In our case the owner had included their name so we were able to send them an email when we got home. We only had to wait for about 24 hours before it was posted on GC.com.
  8. We did sign the log (though it was hard for us to do, as we were laughing at our good fortune so much) and even traded coins. When I emailed the owner, his response was "Cool. Now that's an FTF".
  9. Last weekend, we were out searching for a location to hide a new cache, when we stumbled across a cache that had not yet been approved (GCTHTH). We could not believe it. This was a BRAND NEW cache, not one that was being adopted. There was no way for us to know that it was there. The cache owner was as surprised as we were when we notified them via email. So has it happened to you?
