This one LE BOW was fun to find with the owners permission to move lots of stuff to get to it. Admission into what has to be the biggest junk shop in Colorado is $1 but well worth it to find the mark & see all the "stuff".

Thanks holograph, it's always fun to see the benchmarking route on the map. Paul, that was a "shortcut" to Branson & it was 103 one of the days going across. Last month m&h and I managed to change from white to a color 9 counties in southwest Colorado. Wasn't paying attention or I would have swung through that one lonley county down by the SW corner. Only 2 white ones left in Colorado.

I found this blaze along with a stone drill mentioned in the description. Really surprised the wooden tower & mast were still standing. The buttons/washers on the mast still had the remains of red and white flutter flags under them. At 11,300 feet, one of my more memorable recoveries. SCHOOLMARM MTN

Got access to private property on 12/31/08 to hunt a few USGS marks and two with PID#'s. These two PID's JK1176 and JK1171 were both stamped HAMMER and aproxamately 2.6 miles apart. One monumented by the USGS in 1939 and the other one monumented by CGS in 1949. It seems like the CGS would have known about the USGS mark and given theirs a different designation. First time I've come across something like this. They are both on the original Hammer Ranch.

Sounds like a great hike. Really liked the pictures & looks like if Katahdin were in Colorado it could be one of the 14ers. Looking at your pictures made me wonder, at what approximate elevation is timberline in that part of the country?

Found the Colorado Center of Population monument today. I reported it to the NGS as it does have it's own PID# DH0707 Designation..SAMPSON MTN I noticed in an earlier post that this one in Colorado had been Waymarked. I was under the impression if a mark was in the database that it couldn't be Waymarked. Doesn't matter to me, just a question. Do the other ones around the country have PID#'s?

Paul, I found the reset for JK0300 logged it as a note with GC, didn't think to tell the NGS as I thought it needed it's own PID#. Did I miss out on doing more than I did? I know I should have taken an area picture, gotten better coords ( it was easy to find) and given a better description, but this was not the correct disk for the PID. So... I pretty much blew it off!

Me Too! The Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. It was built in 1893 and a great place to stay....for a day or two. The BM AA3637 is a reset.

Good Job! I have found VERY many of the same ones that Colorado Papa has found, a few of them due to his good description and/or coords. Of all of these, possibly a hundred, I have only found 2 of his DNF's. This one KL0225 I just found 2 weeks ago north of Beuna Vista. I saw those you found while I was planning a "Poker Fun Run", but I was headed to Leadville. Always a "red letter day" to find one a great benchmarker like Colorado Papa was unable to locate. After logging one of his caches, a couple years ago, and seeing how many he had found is what got me started looking for BM's. Thanks Coloraro Papa
