  1. If people ask what I've been up to I tell them - some think I'm barking, some like the idea, some couldn't care less. Mind you, now I've got a fractured skull most of them think I'm completely away with the fairies According to Mrs N they could, of course, be right.
  2. Many thanks folks - I did my 200th at Pisa airport before even lunch or picking up the rental car! Had a few more planned but hadn't counted on skull fracture on tuesday night (see McD1's similar but later thread), two days non compos mentis or hospital admission on friday. Was supposed to fly home today but unlikely until wed or thur. Anyway - many thanks again. Robin
  3. Thanks all - I did my 200th within minutes of our arrival in Pisa before lunch and picking up my hire car. Had a great couple of days in Barga before slipping and hitting the back of my head. Spent the next two days in bed before mrs n insisted I saw a doctor. After three interesting ambulance trips here I am on the day I was due home - which should be wednesday-ish now with any luck.
  4. I had real problems getting mine connected when I first got it. I discovered that my XDA connection was hogging the port (despite the fact it's usb, not serial like the legend). Disconnected XDA and bob was my mother's sibling. You may have a similar issue.
  5. I'll drop my son an email - he lives in Walsall and has chalked up a few caches.
  6. I can also confirm the camo is waas enabled - both my sons use them and I have seen lots of lovely "D's" on them long before my legend deigned to lock on
  7. It was mentioned to me by Major Trek & Co in June 05 who had been told about it by Merecats. I bagged my first cache before Major T did (sorry guys) and introduced The Amazing Spider Man (son no 1) and Mcd1 (son no 2) to it. Mcd1 is on 80ish now (both with me and on his bike) but poor old TASM with a young family, no computer at home and not able to drive is dependent on me to take him out with his trusty camo. He's only on 26 (19 logged, 7 still to get around to stealing time from his employer to log). I also introduced my boss who's son, Howies, has got into it - now on 50 and I mentored him on geocaching as part of his DofE Bronze.
  8. What a star - if we meet at an event remind me I owe you a drink.
  9. In the UK (so far) the sadly disabled Alpha-quest Y. In the world - Windy Cove in Malta.
  10. Been using the Legend for nearly a year and still happy with it. Cost me about £130. Red Squadron's deal looks much better! Both my lads (22 and 16 respectively) use Camos (the same as the yellow etrex, but don't drop them in the woods) which I found them for around 70 beer vouchers each. All UK sourced.
  11. I'm jiggered if I can load a POI file of caches to Tomtom on my XDA. I'm creating it in GPSU - it looks VERY small indeed and, predictably, doesn't work. Memorymap won't even deign to create one. Please help before I have to open another bottle of wine and start shouting at the cats.
  12. I'll drop Mcd1 an email and direct him there - or now that he's 16 is he way too wrinkly?
  13. It certainly is !! I guess I'd better close this one now before my drinking habits get a very public airing
  14. You're stars, the pair of you - very many thanks.
  15. Maybe I'm lazy or just a grumpy old so-and-so, but is there a way to display the posting times in forums in local time? I guess what I'm seeing is West Coast US hour of the day and now my boss knows I'm on the forums at work when I count on my fingers and mouth out the numbers.
  16. Given that the UK forum is the busiest of the regionals I am, as we say over here, gobsmacked.
  17. Excellent response kbootb, almost all of which I agree with. The exception is: "as they are both trying to achieve the same aim, upset people so they leave the sport and put an end to caching." I think you give them more of an agenda than they deserve. I believe they just want the attention. Like spoilt brats. Oh yes - and if this is a sport - just who am I in competition with? I thought it was a pastime. Sorry - different discussion.
  18. If this is down to some arschlochs, then I'm really sorry. The limited contact I had with Eckington was always polite, fair and timely. Thinking about it, if I was spending my free time going through a load of new caches, some of which were bonkers, instead of getting out in the open I'd be going up the wall. Big up to Eckiington.
  19. My point exactly - I was being ironic (I think)
