  1. Charters (besides being Platinum Members ) are Premium Members who beat it to the punch and joined very early in the game, and have not had a lapse in their membership. I think it spells this out somewhere in the FAQ's either here in the forums or on geocaching.com or even the KnowledgeBase on Groundspeak.com
  2. If MS Streets & Trips can't directly interact with GPX files, then you can convert them into comma separated variables and import that. I'd use GPSbabel to do that. And if you use GSAK then you have that. But I'd also download the visual GUI front end for GPSbabel from the internet to make things easier.
  3. There's a reason it's hard to find a basemap. Magellan Lawyers constantly scour the internet and try to thwart copyright violations. They actively have web sites that post the basemaps shut down. Hence all the dead links. I'm surprised that there exists one embedded in a firmware file that Magellan has not yet detected. (or care about)
  4. Know someone who has has a heart attack and uses nitro-glycerin. That's what bison tubes were invented for decades ago. But drugstores have those much bigger non-bison-like things for a few bucks.
  5. One MUST be logged-in to geocaching.com in order to see any maps with caches on them. So your desire to have an on-demand map for your travel bug and the caches it's been through would only work for geocaching.com users who are logged in. It's a very simple url link. You can capture the map as it exists right now and post that to your hearts content, but you will have to update that with every movement.
  6. Maybe you have a Watch put on it. When you click on the cache, in the upper right near the log it link, does it say that 'you are among the 2 users Watching this cache"? Or go into your account and cick the link for watchlists. OOPS, I see you mentioned watches. Never-mind.
  7. There are Yahoo user groups that have firmware modification programs for changing icons. I think one is called MagIcon. Try the Magellan_Meridian user group. sorry, but I'm not sure if a similar thing exists for Explorists.
  8. Didn't I say to back up your own basemap? You only have yourself to blame. Published firmware on that web site might make Magellan Lawyers try to shut down that site. Just like they have shut down many sites that have ever posted basemaps. There are some people who have many basemaps. I have many and might send you one, but I need to know what that filename was on your Green/Yellow which you thought was a Gold (any why do you mention Platinum which is the only unit with a Compass?) WHAT UNIT DO YOU NEED A BASEMAP FOR? Everyone else who might want to help you needs to know the truth.
  9. Sure, but if you were to return that activated card to StarBucks you would expect to be able to get a refund. Unless it were stipulated that no refunds were allowed. Perhaps you have not tried to make a "new" recurring PayPal purchase at Groundspeak. I had stated that existing ones would 'probably' still work until something screwed them up like a leap year extra day, or perhaps a leap second, or something else unpredictable. How many people are not Charter anymore due to such a messup in the past?
  10. 1. Yes. 2. This will be on a case by case basis. It is impossible to know, at this time, what scenarios will arise. #2 sounds totally irresponsible to me. Please forgive my apparent disrespect here. How can any business allow money to be flushed down some toilet somewhere or be used to pay for their sailboats instead of whatever that money was supposed to be used for (or returned to sender)? All contingencies should have been planned for before any change to your money acceptance system was ever implemented. Secondary question here. Does the Gift a Membership use SSL or other high security when manipulating my credit card number? Your normal web page and forum page login surley doesn't. It would merely push their renewal date into the future, same if they were merely Premium members. I'm nearly positive that nothing would happen to your monthly $3 PayPal deduction. The gift would push your renewal date one year into the future, but PayPal would continue to send GS $3 per month. If you stopped PayPal from sending the monthly payment because of the gift, you wouldn't be able to 'restart' the monthly payment next year. There is no such thing as renewing PayPal payments here on geocaching.com anymore, perhaps those done before Groundspeak removed that ability will someday also get bolluxed.
  11. Since you don't know, your 'list' is just the last 30 days of your logs. To see all your logs you can click on one of the three "Show all logs for: Caches, Bugs, or Benchmarks. And then you can click on the type of log, all, find, note, DNF... To see your information, as others can see it, you want to click on the second of the boxes on the right of those pages called Stat Bar, or the link above that called View Profile. Then there are tabs for the various things. This shows your finds counts, and for travel bugs everything but the notes.
  12. You DIDN'T FIND IT. You didn't sign the log book. You cannot EVER log it until you DO find it. WOOF WOOF, Bark Bark. Do not CHEAT and edit your DNF to a Find. Hell, if you could do that then you could find every terrain 5 and difficulty 5 hide in the world, or even every cache... When you do find it you log a find ofn that day and leave the history alone.
  13. You can also search for players by using the Forums Memebers button on the top right. This only works if they ever posted in the forums. But you could also search for players names by clicking on your profile and then ""Find another player. You must already know that since you called it players and not members. You can enter as few or an many characters in their name as you want, there. It would be a great thing if whatever algorithm is used in that location were also used in the Hide & Seek A Cache, Hidden by Username: and Found by Username: places. Last time I looked, you had to exactly know how to spell out the user name EXACTLY in those searches. Edited to say. OK, forum hiccups prevented me from seeing any other than the first post and Skipper's. My answer are some ways to search for users, not at all by location which as mentioned is not easy or even possible.
  14. Can all us people who use the existing "order" and simple toole like Excel opt out of this fix? If not then it's only a simple progtramming fix for me to make to my spreadsheets.
  15. Did he directly address you, and only you? If so then there are any number of ways he could single out people. 1. prior loggers, or note writers. 2. people appearing in the audit list, of a Premioum Members Only cache. Especially if the most recent views were very recent... 3.people who have cached out the whole area and have not done that particular cache. 4...
  16. And perhaps perform a memory clear all operation depending on what firmware you previously had and/or what model number you are doing it on... Hundreds of satisfied people so far. Zero, that I know of, who have had an unrecoverable problem.
  17. I know someone who wears an external antenna on the top of a baseball cap, with a small bit-o-iron inside for it to magnetically adhere to. That being said. I just saw some Garmin external antennae (compatable with the 60CSx) at a local Circuit City that's going out of business, for something like $15.
  18. It's there since one could log their own caches. You could have had a non-caching spouse place the cache for you. And then you actually found it sometime. Or you could have adopted a cache that you had not previosly found. Or any number of reasons. Now, when you host an event, it's totally reasonable for you to "attend" your own event. That's a slightly different thing.
  19. People "collect" coin icons in their profile by finding coins, moving them along, and just "discovering" them when there are many such as at an event.
  20. Or right on your GPS. Most GPS's allow you to enter coordinates in whatever format is allowed on that GPS. And then you can change the coord format on that GPS to something else and view what those coords turn into in that other format. Some GPS's display primary and secondary coordinates, and when you go to the projection screen, and attempt to project from any stored waypoint, it will display that waypoint in both formats, along with the projected waypoint.
  21. Only the owner of the archived cache can have a say as to whether you should be able to log it or not. They had archived it for a reason, perhaps too many people were confusing a nearby letterbox or something else for their cache. But if the cache, the actual archived cache, actually physically exists at the coords that are published, and you signed the logbook then I think you should be able to log the cache.
  22. It's a sad thing to think that people only cache in their own towns.
  23. But that requires you to remember what the last post in that thread was. If there are a large number of replies seen in the Replies column I just click on the "Last post" word of the "Today, 12:29 PM Last post by: DukeOfURL01" on the right side of the screen, and scan backwards/upwards. If there are only a few replies so far I click on the topic on the left side of the screen, and scan forward/down. I have not had any trouble ever remembering if something looks like I read it before, LOL.
  24. If every location had a cache then there would be this many on Earth http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3618549
  25. It must be great to miss something that never existed. But to do what you want you need to use PQ's, not searches.
