  1. The problem as I see, it is now going to cause more work for those minting coins. I can now see TPTB require the Name and the Icon along with the art before approving the coin. So those who think this was not thought about before, one only needs to read the post:
  2. Congrats all. I am going to see if I can get one of these for Firetruckflyer. Need to take him caching again!
  3. I just wanted to post in this thread. I havent posted but like others, I would love to pick up certain coins which are out there. Most of us have the same 'desires' as those are usually the older or very rare coins. The other day, I got a package in the mail. The package was open and I thought, o no, something got lost. I looked in and there was a bunch of bubble wrap still in. I reached in and there it was, one of the coins that I have wanted to get for a long time. One I thought I would never get except for a high priced auction. I would like to thank them for the very nice gift. I hope to pay this forward someday. Thanks nielsenc
  4. I dont think there are any 'large' staffs of people who work on Geocoins today.
  5. Dont worry, expect to see a half dozen on ebay the next day or so.
  6. One of these beauties flew into my hand today. As always, thanks for the coin.
  7. I edited my post to remove the link.
  8. I dont know if anyone has seen this yet, but you can save up to 20% on Geocoins from Ebay. This is by going to live search and typing in geocoins. (removing the link) Here is what shows up for me: It only works with Buy It Now. Just a thought.
  9. Only because I goofed and missed the coin that was 20 feet from where we lived, the Goofycacher caught me where I would be able to finally find one. At GW, I opened my door and tripped over something. Looking down, there it was, a goofy cacher geocoin! Wow. Many Thanks... I guess the force was with me that morning.
  10. Too bad it is 'random'. I wonder how many returns they are going to get because of a non-geocoin box.
  11. The Alaska Mint, from what I understand, does not do colorfill. The process is very costly to do in the US where labor costs are high.
  12. The threads usually get closed. I will expect this thread to go away as well.
  13. nice coin. seems i am missing out on a few of these. I should try to find more caches.
  14. Alaska Mint. Here is a very nice coin: http://www.geocachealaska.org/alaskageocoins.htm

    China

I was only answering a direct question. I wasnt getting into details beyond that. Yes, this is tragic. Yes I know people from the area. Yes this is not a good thing for friends or family. As some people know, I travel to China quite often. In the past 5 years I have been over 20 times. I not only visit but I work alongside many Chinese people. I have many friends and co-workers with whom I interact with on a weekly if not daily basis. I am quite aware of the situation and have been following since it happened. In the future, if you felt my post was insensitive to the situation, you can always PM me to have me clarify.

No, it shouldnt affect as most factories are on the coast. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chengdu
  17. I don't know why you think doing something is OK just because someone else did it. If you know it is wrong, why would you want to do it? This type of defense does not hold up very well in court. Since you want to do a 'Taz' coin, here is the copyright owner: WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC. CORPORATION DELAWARE 4000 WARNER BLVD. BURBANK CALIFORNIA 91522 In the end, owners of the copyright/trademark HAVE to protect it. If they dont, they can lose it.
  18. Since the start of Geocoins, I have seen 'copyright' issues. This isnt anything new. Even some of the more 'famous' coins....
  19. Mike, I dont know why this still comes up. If anyone has a question, they should consult an attorney. I even see three different threads, four counting this one, opened by you. It seems the forums cannot provide you the answer you are looking for? http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=168899&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=153496&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=182630&hl= We have had other threads as well: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=187459&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=160676&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=163931&hl= http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=168334&hl=
  20. After almost 3 years, I have still yet to know of any Geocoins which have been made and re-sold. If they were going to start doing it, I would assume they would start with the Moun10bikes. As others have pointed out, there isnt enough volume to make it worth it, unlike the fake Rolex watches you find all over Asia. I did meet a couple of 'enterprising' young guys. One from Seattle and one from Canada. The fellow from Seattle was buying fake handbags by the container and shipping them to Seattle. While the one from Canada was buying fake Rockport shoes and re-selling them to small stores.
