  1. my grandsons last find was 02/01/03 he's been talking about starting up again
  2. I had heard that the traffic part was kind of iffy at times. Because of this, i figured i could do without it. On the otherhand, i can sure see where it would be a nice feature to have if it works well. Anyone else have an opinion on this aspect of the unit? the traffic has always worked great for me, the only problem I've had with the units(I have 2) is the power plug will lose contact at times, but after cleaning the contacts it works fine
  3. I've got the 255w with lifetime traffic, using GSAK it gives full description shows hints and 5 logs. The traffic part is great for where I'm at in So Cal
  4. It's kind of funny micros have been around longer then the majority of cachers on this site
  5. Garmin with lifetime maps and traffic
  6. Flagstaff area is about 6 to 7000 ft el. snow in the winter beautiful in the summer, Kingman about 3500 el and growing fairly fast some snow but not a lot (usually) summer temps 90s to low 100s, Phoenix nice in the winter hot in the summer same for Tucson, Yuma is a snowbirds paradise in the fall and winter to early spring, hotter then hell in the summer. We've cached a lot in the Yuma area and there are some beautiful views out in the desert. Hope this helps
  7. You might also think about getting one with lifetime traffic also, it does come in handy at times
  8. Planes, trains, and automobiles west of route 66 and Barstow, also some geo art in the area
  9. If your a premium member this one will give you all the information and hint and 5 logs
  10. not sure if this will help, I use this macro on my 255w. It's Lignumaqua's basic nuvi export for 36xx and other models, ver. 1.7 Never had any problems with it and it loads description, hint, and last 5 logs
  11. Was the one in Yuma in a bar, if so that was my last one of the day and I enjoyed a couple of cool ones  edit to add that was the one did it in Dec of 10 went in placed my order and signed the log
  12. ^^^^^^ That's about what we do with the Montana 650T
  13. ^^^^ That's the way my wife and I do them. It us 2 trips to Laughlin Nv. to complete the route 66 run
  14. tried the page, enter, power button. I got a flash on the screen but thats all
  15. A neighbor brought his summit hc over after he tried to upgrade his firmware and I guess he bricked it, does anyone know how to do a hard reset on the summit hc. Thanks in advance
  16. It's high desert, temps will probably be somewhere in the 90s take plenty of water and stay hydrated, and no gas between Alamo and Tonapah
  17. I'd have to agree. The 7 caches I've given favorite points to were all found early in my caching career, either good hikes or a WOW cache
  18. Picked up zaggs at Best Buy while in saint George Utah last year, , not sure if they all carry them, but it's worth a try
  19. I use GSAK and load 3 PQs of about 650 caches every Thursday into my Nuvi 255w and my 650t, they both show all the info and 5 logs and it takes less then 5 minutes to load both units
  20. I have the 650T which I bought last Sept REI had a sale on them otherwise I would have bought the 650. you can get free maps for them so the 650 would save some money. The camera is satisfactory, I also bought the Garmin cradle which turns the unit into a very nice Nuvi. So far I really like the unit.
  21. Usually one takes one's own ball and goes home, not someone else's ball. I rate this geocide a very lame 1 out of 10 due to the lack of actual caching time, no hides to turn into geo-litter, little to no hostility or flaming in the parting message, and taking someone else's ball home. Thanks for coming out. You forgot their abject failure to properly fill out and submit the official RK666 geocide form too. I still miss RK as a regular around here. He visited the site 6 days ago, I've noticed some of the old timers still visit but don't post
