  1. I'm glad to hear everything works out fine. You see, not every review is correct. Another one on the 'happy-with-monterra' list
  2. I have not checked out CacheSense but this is the second time I hear about it. When it comes to a mount, I am curious. I have not bought a mount for the car yet. Do you have the friction one or the suction cup one? And do you recommend yours? My experience with suction cups are not great so I am a bit unsure, but I have not bought a mount this expensive either. I use the suction cup one, and I'm happy with it, except that the speaker is broken
  3. I'm a happy Monterra user too. about logging on GC.com, this is the way to log with all Garmin devices. Android has apps that can keep your log offline untill you connect to a WiFi. I use CacheSense, very nice app. But I only use it to get GPX-files where I don't have my caches. e.g. when I'm on the road in another country (Europe) and we stop at a gasstation, I log in to the WiFi with the monterra, search for caches, export them as GPX to the folder of the Garmin app. Log it with the garmin app, and when I'm home, or have my netbook with me, I connect the GPSr and use the geocache_visits file to log them all at once. Why? 1. I've always worked like this with my previous GPSr 2. this way is easier and more secure for me to keep track of all the logs I did. Because I can see a list before logging. The only problem I have is that the car mount is broken, I think the speaker is broken. Now, if I connect the charger, it uses the speaker of the mount, and it sounds sucky, If i switch to charging it via the mini-usb, it's fine, but the mount is useless, it only keeps the monterra in place. I'm looking for a solution, but haven't found one until now
  4. I always have the impression that people are complaining because the other do so. There are obviously some problems, but they're not so bad as they claim to be. Maybe it is because they can't handle the monterra, maybe it's something else. But I'm very happy with it. If you should have bought it, and you have questions, you can always contact me As long there's a long bug list in the wiki I believe the wiki. Specially now I bought a Oregon 600 knowing there are bug according to the wiki, if fact these bugs mentioned in the wiki are there. Often the bugs are not detected because of the use, others have a wrong perception and everything seems to go wrong. And in fact the learning curve of a Monterra type op Gpsr is too high for some. I couldn't agree more. I've used the Monterra now for 10 months or so. In the beginning I had problems as well. But now (still learning new stuff) I must say, it's a very nice GPSr with a lot of possibilities.
  5. So I've been looking into it. The maximum is apparently 1+10 people to compare with eachother. And that's not enough for us. Also the things that are compared are not the ones we want. so the search continues.....
  6. thanks for the sample, looks like what I was looking for.
  7. So it can be interesting to get one payed account in order to see it. Worth thinking about it. But in any case.... Is this the only way?
  8. I get an invalid page if I want to see your example. And nobody of me and my friends have a paid project gc paid account. And is not A friend but like 20 of them.... Buy thanks for the response allready. Hope someone else has another idea.
  9. Can you please explain? Because I've been looking in to project gc but couldn't find it.
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a way to create a page (can be webpage, can be something in GSAK/GAPP/....) which shows statistics of me and my friends. For the moment we create weekly an update manually, but we'd prefer an automated page which is accessible 24/7 Does anyone have an idea how to start on this? I think it includes scripts, but I'm not familiar with these things. So a step by step description would be needed in this case

  12. beetje laat voor te antwoorden, maar: welk type gps? dat helpt al om een antwoord te vinden
  13. there is a new update 3.20 and I'm not having any problems at all. Maybe I don't use EVERY function, but I do use a lot of them. I navigate with the monterra, I don't play with it. And when I'm out Geocaching, I can go all day. But just in case, I always have a external battery pack of 11000 mAH. If my internal is drained, I connect the cable to the 2 Amp and it charges while using it, giving me more than a day extra since the internal is only 2000 mAH.
  14. to determine the accuracy, try comparing your position on the map with your real position. In my case, it's very good. I usually find my geocaches like that if I'm looking in the wrong place
  15. I would call Garmin's tech support. Ask to speak to a senior advisor as the entry techs don't have any idea what they are doing. There should not be a problem with the size. I have a 16gig card in mine and it works. I emailed Garmin support and after several email back and forth, they advise it should work and support has no idea why it doesn't. the support rep was going to escalate to his manager and get back to me. That was a week ago and they haven't replied............. The Monterra is a piece of crap. A nice idea and has the potential to be an interesting unit but Garmin released it way way way too soon. The way the buggy software is, it looks more like a prerelease-Beta unit and not a high priced, high quality unit already at software release 3.20. I plan on returning the Monterra and going back to my Montana 650. another complainer I have no problems with my monterra, and I encountered this problem with other devices as well. For me the problem was that I forgot to put the .img file in the correct folder on the SD-card (x:/Garmin/xxxxx.img) If that's not the case, then you should try unlocking the thing. you can contact me to see how....
  16. hi, I'm in Slovenia right now, and I'm geocaching with my Monterra. No problems for me. I've read a lot of comments about people who are angry with Garmin. In some cases I understand, but I think the main problem is: most people can't cope with the combination Android/Garmin. I'm someone who uses both Garmin and Android intensively, and even I had to search for some things. Now after 5-6 months, I handle it smoothly, and if there should be any problems, I know where they came from, and usually it's me trying things that aren't possible. ps, I'm here for work for another week, next I'm going back to Belgium
