  1. I'm working on our next 2 caches, and cachers will need to download a file from my web page as part of an 'optional puzzle' I know VERY little of html. I have the file on the site and a link to it from the page. The problem is that it downloads without giving the user the 'save it or open it option' I'm using the following html:< a href="test.mp3">Click here to download (Click Save As) can anyone help, and if so assume i know nothing and you will be ok. 2. I've lost the details. When? Where? What page? Thanks. Look forward to seeing you there. Tech-no notice

  7. We think that publicity on National TV is a VERY bad idea. However, IF they are going to do it anyway, we want to be at our most 'responsible'. For us this means ‘Tim and June’ We are sure there are others just as good as T&J its just that we have met T&J face to face several times, so T&J please re-consider. Tech-no notice
  8. from your top 'Bear Hunters" Unless someone knows better. (we have one each) team Nia Tech-no notice
  9. On the 'satellites' page it gives an indecation from (best we have seen)) 18 feet to 105 feet (worst we have seen) This is not allways a true figure. when the batteries are low (50%) you can double this figure. when there is tree cover this can range fron Nothing, to 200 feet out. This is just OUR experience of using the eTrex. Tech-no notice
  10. Well everyone above sound like an 'Estate Agent' For us the best cache is a challenge, or puzzle. Hopefully with some nice walking on the way. The Kids also like the contents to be interesting, allthough sometimes just a log-book would save arguments. We are not that concerned with the final location. Tech-no notice
  11. We thought a forum is a place to give your opinions, our own post on that thread included IOHO. We always follow the rules and guidelines regardless of our own opinions, and I thought this was the case for nearly all geocachers. We never have and never will put anything edible in a cache, but IOHO some sealed drinks would be ok. There is a big difference between an opinion and an action. Sounds like a cop-out to us. 12. If you read this within 10 minutes, i'll try and help you sort it out. Tech-no notice
  13. I have a list of waypoints (SU xxxxx xxxxx)I want to enter into my GPSr (eTrex) I have set the GPSr to British Grid, and can enter one at a time, buy editing. This is painfully slow. I have tried using: Easy GPS - Does not accept BG Waypoint+ - ditto Waypoint Workbench - Allthough it converts TO BG it does not seem to convert FROM BG to anything. Correct me if this is wrong. Any ideas please Tech-no notice
  14. quote:Originally posted by The Hornet:OK - for just £20 I can offer the complete caching service. I'll supply the Ammo Box, painted of course, add logbook, pencil, disposable camera, ziploc bags and an assortment of goodies. I'll then hide the cache and post it on the site. I'll then go and find it for you, fill in the logbook, take my picture and take some suitable swap. Just to add that final touch I'll trash the cache for no extra charge. Where else can you get service like that _________________________________________________________ It is better to regret something you did, rather than to regret something you didn't do. But we still get to Score the find, YES Tech-no notice
  15. quote:Originally posted by Chris n Maria:Just a thought Mark, Perhaps you could team up with Hornet Enterprises and supply Ammo boxes with a Sticker on the side plus a log book and pencils already in them. Then all we would need to do is just add the swaps. Just an idea.... Chris Bear rescues a speciality! London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net A good idea (main problem is delivery) And a camera, I'm sure you could bring the price of these down if you bought a lot. (cheepest i have seen is £2.50) Tech-no notice
  16. I once went back to a cache we had hidden a few days before, without the GPSr and I could not find it. However assuming the GPSr takes me close i think i would remember all 120 caches. This is strange because if i walk from one room to another to get something, I often forget what i want by the time i get there. Some thimgs you never forget: ie words to a song that you have not heard for 20 years. Cache locations are like this. I just picked 1 year old cache at random, and i can picture the location and the type of box. Memory is WEIRD Tech-no notice
  17. and we still have it. It is identical to the one in the pic, they can scare you when you first open them, with the moving legs. I guess someone might be spreading them arround. Wonder who Tech-no notice
  18. If your are willing to catch a train to Winchester (just over an hour from London I believe) I can pick you up and am available to cache all day. depends on your schedule. E-mail us if you are interested. Tech-no notice
  19. My wife might read it (and I told her this hobby was free) Tech-no notice
  20. Once better accuracy is available, I think we will see a new line on the cache page Difficulty Terrain Accuracy Then planters can choose how close they place the cache to 'real' position ..and we expect to be using our eTrex for a long while yet. Tech-no notice
  21. We hope it is the 6th, as we go to France on the 10th, It will be great to see everyone before we leave, and hopefully firm up some visits. Tech-no notice
  22. quote:Originally posted by Pharisee: Caching with children must really slow you down I managed to find 13 out of 14 visited and still had time for a bite to eat and a couple of pints with T & J Sorry we didn't meet up with you, rain and family visits stpped us. 13 is impressive, I guess the children do slow us down, but the other thing is planning. We tend to take just the GPSr and usually have not even viewed the cache page. With the exception of multi-caches that we print out to take with us. This can cause a major problem, for example '3 locks" but we enjoy it this way. In fact this does make the caches last longer, 1 or 2 days caching for you would be 5 or 6 days for us. Tech-no notice
  23. I've read the info and i'm none the wiser. Can any one tranlate? What we would like to know is... Will this help our yellow eTrex? Will we need to get some new firmware? Tech-no notice
