  1. quote:Originally posted by Tim & June:We did try. See here. Not only did Tim and June alert us to their discussions in the thread hilighted in their post above, but in the thread "Some thoughts for new cachers" they explicitly stated: quote:On a more serious note, We have been working with "Forest Enterprise" and "English Nature" to try to establish a corporate type of decision on caching, Both have said they do not want foodstuffs or the list of other things we have given, left in caches on the land they manage. I'm not sure how much more warning people need. Rich mobilis in mobili

  3. Sorry if this is a basic question, but what is tinylink? Rich mobilis in mobili
  4. Hmm - I would have thought that in this instance the easy option would have been to say "yes, please feel free to place caches". Isn't it actually a more difficult option for them to say "no" because they then have have to police the ban and answer letters from disgruntled geocachers on their policy etc, instead of just letting people get on with it? 5. quote:Originally posted by jeremyp:As a non IE6 user... You get the same problem even with IE6. (edited - actually its a slightly different problem but there is a problem there anyway with long URLs) Rich mobilis in mobili
  6. quote:Originally posted by naffita:I too am sorry about the amount of time and effort Tim has put into this and I have to say it was a waste of time from the start. With all due respect, unless you were taking part in the negotiation I don't see how you can conclude this. The argument that committees always say no doesn't work. I know lots of committees that have said "yes" to things, and have even been part of a few myself! When I spoke with Tim and June a while ago they gave me the impression that the discussions were very constructive and positive at that point. Rich mobilis in mobili
  7. quote:Originally posted by Huga:I quite often leave bottles of water and Chunky Kitkats (which are in sealed foil wrappers). People are too paranoid. What is there not to trust? This issue has already caused problems - see other thread. Tell you what - those people who like to eat food from caches continue to do so. I'll continue to remove food I find in caches and throw it away. That way we are all happy and are removing food from caches we find. No problem. Rich mobilis in mobili
  8. These two teams have been way ahead of any other people for ages. It does seem a bit weird to me that both bimillenial cachers have not put anything at all about themselves on their profiles. Seems very odd to me. Rich mobilis in mobili
  9. quote:Originally posted by Lost in Space:Can we not get these threads back to subjects other than common sensibility?? Sorry LIS, to me common sense says "don't eat food found in caches". Why bother? I honestly can't see the appeal in eating or drinking something that has been sat around in a cache for an unknown length of time, left there by someone you don't directly know. 10. (which seems to put you near the leisure centre in Chichester) [This message was edited by el10t on March 09, 2003 at 01:47 PM.]
  11. You have made an error in converting from dd:mm:ss to dd.dddd 50:49:57 converts to 50.8325 00:46:91 converts to -0.7919 Rich mobilis in mobili

  13. Steet-based caches in London are fine without a GPS. Try finding one or two in Hyde Park without it though - much harder. Rich mobilis in mobili
  14. I wouldn't eat food from caches myself. It just doesn't sound very apealing somehow. Rich mobilis in mobili

  16. Has anybody got this software? If so, could you let me know what its like. Any good? It looks interesting. Rich mobilis in mobili
  17. quote:Originally posted by GingerNut:I bought the £12.50 one Ouch. You should talk to Mr Hornet. Rich mobilis in mobili
  18. quote:Originally posted by lathama:9 is my top but i think if i went to the states then it would be more cause there are loads so close together! My top is 9 as well, though they were found on a particularly hot summers day in June last year, and were all in London, and I used no transport other than my feet to get between them. It was certainly a hard day's caching. Rich mobilis in mobili
  19. I reckon you should scan in the pages and make them available for viewing online - the same as people do with the photos from cameras in caches. Rich mobilis in mobili
  20. By happy chance I am in London on Friday. Rich mobilis in mobili
  21. I was looking at getting some of these to use as calling cards. Unfortunately the minimum order is 500 at 96p each, plus 135 quid setting up the print run, so it was a little bit out of my price range. Shame really. Rich mobilis in mobili
  22. quote:Originally posted by el10t:Teasel - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=247&log=y on the list of hardest UK caches shoudl be number 1 - it is halfway round the world! Oh, actually, don't worry - it seems to have gone now. That was weird. Rich mobilis in mobili
  23. Trouble is this statistic would be skewed by caches that have gone missing and therefore have a lot of not-found logs. Rich mobilis in mobili
  24. quote:Originally posted by Teasel:There's also http://www.trbf.com/teasel/view_hardest.php, based on the sum of difficulty and terrain. Teasel - number 13 on the list of hardest UK caches shoudl be number 1 - it is halfway round the world! Rich mobilis in mobili
  25. quote:Originally posted by Teasel:... so if any real statisticians could give me some advice, please drop me an email! Some might argue otherwise but I consider myself a "real statitician" (at least that's what my job title is!) I'll drop you an email with some suggestions. Rich mobilis in mobili
