  1. So getting the eXplorist GPS to work with my HX4700 iPaq may not be possible since they are both USB devices. I would need the iPaq to be a USB host, and the GPS to be a client. For this to work Magellen would need to write a Pocket PC driver, and HP would have to write a USB host driver. I could see HP writing the USB host driver but not Magellen writting the PPC driver.
  2. Has anyone found an eXplorist to iPaq cable? Specifically eXplorist 600 to iPaq Hx4700
  3. I found a PSP car adapter cable in a bargin bin at EB Games ($10 CDN). It's a MadCatz product that plugs in to the AC port mid-way down the Explorist USB cable. The MadCatz output is 5V/2A, but the AC adapter from Magellan is 5V/1A. What will the extra amp do? I tried it out for a few minutes and it seems to work okay, but I'm wondering what prolonged use will do. Any thoughts? -Bluenoser
  4. Ah, I get it now. Magellan isn't very clear on this topic. Cheers! Bluenoser
  5. Isn't the only difference between using the cig lighter with out an inverter (DC to DC), or using the 110 V plug with the inverter (DC to AC to DC) that you're getting more amps? So it seems to me if the plug is down, and you get enough amps it charges. I saw this PSP adapter on BestBuy.ca that should do the trick for $9.99 CDN: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...10056735&catid= I read posts on another site from people using it for charging x50v PDAs while they're on. I think I'll give it a try for 10 bucks! -Bluenoser
  6. The default install on the CD loads a "USB to Serial" driver. What would this be used for? -Bluenoser613
  7. Thanks for the info! Do I read your post right that you don't have the screw the cable to the unit when you use the mount? -B
  8. Hey, I want a mount in my car for my eXplorist, that I can use in any vehicle. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions regarding the swivel base vs the suction cup/ vechile mount? Regards, Bluenoser613
  9. Hey, I have a new eXplorist 600 but it came with only the "basic" manual that refers to a "reference" manual that is knowwhere to be found on the CD or in the box. I'm wondering what the difference is when the cable is attached up or down. USB doesn't see to work when it's mounted up. Cheers! Bluenoser613
  10. It's been a while since this thread was active. Does anyone have a current Tim Hortons file? Regards, Bluenoser613
